I personally can't get enough of the beta right now. I find the interface the combat the quest system..... hell I just like the whole game lol. Hopefully the cash shop system won't screw up a game to me that shows nothing but promise.
I thought the game really showed its chops for me when I first fought the Gnoll chieftan with a full group. This boss battle actually requires teamwork not overly complex teamwork but teamwork none the less.. I was like "no way" when I first saw someone shoot out a hook chain to take the boss down so we could all beat on him lol. In short I just find it fun, fast and pretty damn good looking.

I think the game has lots of promise aswel, I just can't play it damn it!!! I spent 8 hours downloading the client (slow net) .... and went to log in to the client to find I was constantly getting the ''you were disconnected from the server' when I clicked start game, so I went to the forum, and sure enough ' USA AND CANADA ONLY' would have been nice if it were on the main website...

Well hopefully you will be able to get into the open beta phase so you can get into the action also. If you like hack-n-slash with rpg elements thrown in I think you will enjoy it. Cheers and hope to group with you at some point!
For right now, it is easy to judge the game for what it us b/c there isn't much else. However, I have been following the game in Korea and it has quite a bit more to offer than what most can experience now...which is a shame.
1) Skills
I love how the skills are based on your combo and key sequences. I am sure most will say it is repetitive with left/right clicks. But isn't spamming 1,2,3,4 skill bars the same? Fighting isn't just about spamming attacks. If you are not careful, you can get stuck w/o stamina and end up on the end of a giant hammer.
The skills will start to take more key combos to work. I know Lann has an uppercut swing when doing dash+smash. He also a repeated charging slash that is done during a combo (i think invovled the dash key as well).
I am really looking forward the release of the higher level skills to really bring out the combo system.
2) Classes
2 classes right now (and 3 in Korea) do sound pretty limited. But what most don't get is that they do have "builds" for these characters. Since you have to train skills up, there will be area you may want to specialize in. Of course, you could learn every skill grinding AP (Mabinogi allowed players to learn every and any skill), but hey...we want to try to be more efficient right?
Fiona can learn to master maces, which are slower, but have skills meant for heavy smashin damage.
Lann starts with 2 swords and is meant as a burst DPS character. He can master spears and that style has much more AoE type skills.
Evy (the mage) has magic attack skills, healing skills, or can master the battle scythe (one of the recend updates in Korea).
Also, the masteries in stuff like armor will change your play style a bit. Heavy armor stats are fit for Defence, while it seems Light have more Wisdom bonus (for crits).
Honestly, I really like this design of simple base class and using skills to "build" a class. It's not the greatest possibility in Vindictus, but still an interesting touch.
3) Instances
Instances do randomize a bit. The dungeon maps look very similar, so it is hard to tell if anything has really changed.
The thing i want to say the most is why people have such a strong negative feeling towards instanced. But then again, it's all in feeling and tastes. There is some rewarding feeling running through an open world to your destination. I don't see instances as a bad thing, since it cuts the trips you generally have to take to go where you need to. Straight to the action, quests, boss...less time enduring the travel.
In many MMOs, i find myself rarely partying, especially when i am out doing a quest. Maybe if i had a friend doing the same, we might party. Vindictus allows me to play solo, jump into a launching boat, or make my own boat and wait for a group of people to join.
Ugh...I remember the FFXI days...calling or waiting for a party to just play...
4) Customizing character and crafting
Vindictus allows you to gather materials you need from dungeon runs. I find this more appealing than running out and spending hours just farming mats. At least I can fight and earn exp/AP/loot/quest while trying to get my craft mats.
You can gather ores by using bombs to blow up crystals. Of course, this means you will have to give up that secondary weapon for it (not too bad in a party). I can't wait ot try fishing.
B/C this game is based heavily around the action, I do not see a heavy need to have "uber" gear. You are not standing and trading hits like tradition MMORPGs. This gives a bit more freedom for players to wear what they want IMO (if they aren't hardcore on maximizing stats). Korean version showed quite a variety of styles. In the beta there are already quite a few choices of armor to choose from (Light Battle, Crimson, Pike, Winter, Spider Cloth, Savage).
Of course, aside from the gear will be the infamous underwear shop. Don't know if any other types of clothing will be available.
So far I'm having fun with this. It's certainly not deep or even really an MMO, but it's fast paced and fun. Think of this like a Diablo/Torchlight type game with shiny graphics. Probably won't become my main game, but will probably hang out on the hard drive for some quick fun on occasion.

To me, the game feels more like a medieval Phantasy Star Online crossed with DDO than Diablo.
