title says it all ive heard bad things about FFXIV about beta but so my question is which is gonna be better to play?

FFXIV is newer prettier and according to all those that have gotten in early it is a solid game.

XIV still has a lot of bugs in it, so right now XI is better. But in the long run, I thing XIV will prevail.

Yeah, do you want a cute virgin who might not please you as much at first, or do you want an older more experienced one who might not be much of a looker, but would rock your world?
I really enjoyed ff11, I'm actually holding off on FF14 for a while to see what happens, a lot of rumors here and there and would like the launch quarter to iron a few things out and then check up on player reviews~
OMFG answers like this is just really stupid, all i wanted was a comparison between FFXI and FFXIV and the dude had to give some freaking smart ass answer like this, but to all of the other replies i send u all a thankyou. I just want to make sure im picking the right game i want to play without picking the wrong one that would be fun. I was going by some things that i heard my friend from work saying about FFXIV and he was in beta.
Try the FFXI trial, and if you are lucky you can pick up a buddy key for FFXIV.
Overall, FFXI is a better game at the moment. Release or not, XIV is still in the "Beta" status as far as being finished goes. FFXI has been ready for almost 6 years now, so the comparison is hard to make. Economy has been established unlike in XIV, all major features are working as intended, et cetera.
But no doubt, XIV will become a better game than XI in all aspects, but it needs time to get there.
It's not solid at all. I ran into bug after bug, after bug. The games immersive, and fun. But theres alot to be fixed.
Sometimes when u inv pll to group they dont get request. When they do and they accept, it takes a good full minute before you see their name change to group color, and for their health bar to popup on screen. Sometimes one person sees member in group when member themselves cannot.
There are times when attacking a uncontested mob where it says invalid target or something no matter what you do you cannot kill these mobs.
Its really bad when a mob is killing you and it wont let you attack it because it says somebody else is already fighting that mob, even when nobody is there but you.
Its also bad when you hit a mob 3+ times and then all of a sudden at random it says somebody has claimed that mob and long behold, somebody runs over and starts hitting your own mob that you cant hit anymore! This frustration is compounded by the fact that there are so few creatures, and so many people, you can spend 5-10+ minutes trying to find 1 creature that is easy enough for you to fight.
Also, why are the creatures so DAMN small!!! I understand it's the noob zones, but comeon, FFXI had large bees, and worms that were 4 times bigger then any of the creatures in FFXIV. I think they should just resize some of the mobs to look bigger.
Game also needs further optimization. My friend who has a GTX 485, 8gigs, i7 processor. Even he cannot run with AO and depth of field. It's like crysis when it came out, there are very few if any systems that can max the game completely.
The game will be great once it gets fleshed out, it really was rushed. But give it a chance and once it improves, it will be well worth playing IMO. It has its problems, but I am optimisitic most of it will get cleared up pretty fast.
My honest suggestion for those of you who are on the edge of whether to buy, or wait a while. Wait a couple of months.
OR, since I don't know how craftin/trades work right now or how bugged they are. If they are ok, then I would say you could sub now, and just work up on becoming a good crafter while waiting for the combat side of the game to improve. You still gain physical levels by crafting.
