I currently own a laptop with a 8800m gts, will probably run this game at low... but choppy and I was wondering if this one could run this game with some smoothness.
here are the specs :
Its an ASUS
Intel Core i7 720QM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870
1600 x 900
7200 rpm
8GB DDR3
comes with windows 7 64bits
Im quite amazed with the 1499.99 price at bestbuy.ca...
sound like a good deal imo no?
Im working as a paramedic and im often outside of my home so thats why I wanna invest more in a laptop.... to kill the time playing a mmo :P

Good enough to run on normal/high settings without considerable problems.
For 1 grand 5, I'd rather shell out for an alienware laptop [for the brand name whore that I am]
But Asus are pretty amazing too, so have fun

FYI, here's the sys req page.
yea was wondering about alien too... but aliens are about 2399 and all more they got is the possibility to add crossfire... exept that the specs are pretty much the same from what ive been reading...
and cash out 900 bucks only for that possibility sound quite expensive, tho I like the look of the alien...
But the look of the asus
G73JH
is not bad
I mean the 11-inch alienware laptop/notebook/whatevs
I went to Micro Trend [is that the correct name?] and got a touch of it.
Really light, small, and a Goliath for its size imo.
For comparison, a GeForce 8800M GTS is essentially a laptop version of a GeForce 9600 GT, while a Mobility Radeon HD 5870 is essentially a laptop version of a Radeon HD 5770. That should offer well over double the video performance of your old laptop, and probably a lot better processor performance, too.
The question of whether that laptop will give you acceptable performance is really a question of whether it's possible to buy a laptop that will give acceptable performance. Well, acceptable frame rates, that is. A hard drive will mean everything loads painfully slowly, and maybe it breaks if you drop it.
If you want a gaming laptop right now, that's pretty much the video card and processor to get. There's probably better stuff for both components coming around the start of next year (mobile versions of Sandy Bridge and Northern Islands, respectively).
ah yes the m11 ok but theres a 335m inside which is maybe not whats needed for this game?
To give you an idea, I am running on mostly high settings on a Toshiba I5.
The specs are
I5 2.4ghz
1gb ATI Radeon 5x graphics
4gb DDR Ram
I am using a XBOX360 PC controller and HDMI cable to run it through to my 42" LCD, and it could do with some more optimizatin (game wise) but is perfectly playable ans still looks good (on par with FFXIII)
The point of the Alienware M11x is that it's small and can kind of play games. But only kind of. It's below the minimum system requirements for Final Fantasy XIV.
For comparison, the specs on the laptop at the start of the thread are well above the minimum system requirements, but well below the recommended requirements.
the problem on my laptop is the cpu , only got 5450 I dont expect much of it... despite I got a nice vid card in the 8800m gts
Im gonna give a try first with mine.
How was the benchmarks for ff? what you got?
1900+
But again, it's a desktop.
