Confirmed game improvements post-launch

MMO.MaverickMMO.Maverick Member CommonPosts: 7,619

I thought I'd help weed out the speculations and rumor mongering and infuse some (more solid) facts into the discussions.

In this case, regarding patch changes that worked out and noticeable improvements in the game and gameplay as it is now compared to the open beta.

So far I found these in comments of players on several sites:

Improvements in FFXIV post-launch upon open beta

- UI lag has decreased noticeably

- hardware mouse enabled and default now

(- game runs faster) *

- more cutscenes and other main story content is present than in OB

(- crafting has improved: easier to get into and more frequent skill ups)

(- buying/selling from NPC's has improved, has become faster than in OB) *

- action bar doesn't reset when switching classes

- dialogues have been fixed in a lot of places

* (the ones between brackets and in italics are the changes that are contested or apparently not universal among all players)

The softer, more subjective impressions regarding improvement:

- community ingame has improved  ('more talking to eachother all over the place')

- scenery has been updated (? saw only the comment, but no specifics)

There may be other, more improvements, but these were the ones mentioned so far up till now.

If I encounter more in reviews and impressions posts, I'll add them to the list.

So basically you're saying they have fixed most of if not all the major issues everyone was having with this game?

    That's good to know

Crafting is the same, don't hype.

There is no knowledge that is no power.

How do comments equate to facts, and confirmed game improvements?

Are you giving credence to those who report the game is pretty awful, also? Or just the ones who are reporting roses and butterflies?

I still see UI lag when accessing vendors, aswell menus for harvesting too.

You are weeding out rumours and speculation by taking comments from random strangers on random sites. Is this deliberately ironic perhaps? Seems a pretty unreliable way to get to the truth of things. It also seems that you are being extraordinarily  biased in the second third and fourth hand "facts"  that make up your synopsis. I notice that a couple of "facts" are disputed within the first few posts...back to your sources I guess.

Wow crazy, those were just the things I had the biggest issue with when I was in Open beta. I haven't picked up a copy of the game yet but if people are saying that it's fixed what am I supposed to believe? Also now there is people saying the opposite so which is it? Did they fix the UI lag or is it  at least slightly improved? The hardware mouse is a fact now has been confirmed with no one saying otherwise. How is the crafting is it still full of lag or is it that you have lag in certain areas like right around atheryte?

I'm getting this too. I think this is due to latency and server lag.

To bad none of those 'fixes' made the issues go away, there still there just not as bad.

hardware mouse is in so that is a good thing!

I didn't play much in Beta so not sure how bad UI lag was myself, but in live I only experience a little lag when I select buy or sell at a vendor, usually have to wait about 2 seconds for it to come up. not a large lag but noticable that when you click and have to wait a sec for it to respond with the next window.

Same goes for harvesting, inbetween the menus there is a delay. I am unsure about crafting since I have yet to try it out.

Personally I can live with the 1-2 sec delay on vendors, but with harvesting it just makes an already tedious, menu heavy task, that much more annoying.

Read the first page of this thread and draw your own conclusions, or read a few posts about it. Discount the blind faith fanbots (the ones that have been saying its not a problem since OB) and discount the people that are obviously just hating. The conclusion seems obvious (and somewhat different to the OP's).

With confirmed I mean that the observation has to be made by several people. What I'm striving to weed out is all the emotional fuss and people repeating comments regarding situations of the past that have changed.

So what I'm looking for is the comments and observations of people who actually play now, after launch.

Since observations are partially subjective and individual (a good example: most ppl don't have much lag in AoC, but a small core does experience it consistently. Addition of a hardware mouse isn't a subjective change) and patches will probably keep on coming more frequently this shortly after launch, the list will be updated from time to time with accumulated insight of the situation as is.

So, the issues most in question right now are these:

    - UI lag has decreased, as good as nonexistent now

    - game runs faster

    - buying/selling from NPC's has improved, has become faster than in OB

So, am I correct to presume that the situation for these 3 is still the same as in OB?

(note: 'gone away' is not the same as 'decreased' or 'improved': comparisons are between the OB and post-launch)

Seems like anything that requires a lot of database access and/or menuing around can be somewhat irritating, so probably safe to add crafting too.

  • MMO.MaverickMMO.Maverick Member CommonPosts: 7,619

Hmmm, the pre-launch period for pre-order/CE players for a MMORPG  is often actually a better time to measure things, since the actual launch and days after it are often a horrid period when it comes to lag and responsiveness - I can remember how obscenely crowded the Aion servers were right after launch.

But I will add crafting to the list of uncertains, until more info and reports about it emerges.

Changes in faster skill ups and easier crafting is gameplay based, this should be easy to verify and identiy for someone who has played OB and live. Anyone?

Here is what i have noticed with launch,

UI lag, GONE. i can sell all my stuff in seconds in stead of minutes.

retainer lag, GONE, just as above, move stuff back and forth no issues

Crafting Lag, GONE, no random freezing when crafting

    Those were my major issues,

they are gone, i am happy
