Truthfully, the best advice they could give is to stop playing and find another game unless you want to pay to be a VIP. Everything is locked, even PvP, which goes against what they originally promised to old players who returned. Find a better and more honest game, best advice available.

An opinion I'm sure a few share with you but by and large I think you guys are on a pretty small island, is a great amount of content locked?  Yes but there is also a vast amount of content open and free players are given the ability to make enough turbine points to almost get all the content without spending any money at all.  I always make it a point to add that it would take a combination of making a few alts and grinding but I don't think it would come close to alot of the grinds I've experienced.

You are entitled to your opinion but I can say for sure there are lot's of others who disagree with you.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

LOL. Everything is NOT locked. As the poster above me says, the ability to play ALL content is there. My opinion? At least try it , best advice available

95% of all percentages quoted on the internet are made up on the spot 50% of the time.

What do you want for free? Seriously you have the ability to unlock all content without spending any money at all! Just like jaxsundane and ziifnab Mentioned. Its a great game! Well worth the grind if you don't want to spend money in the shop.  But since it is such a great game it deserves your support by buying the occasional Turbine points when you can.

It's hardly a 'grind' early on (don't know about later yet).

As a new player I have created 2 characters (on two different servers) to see what the game has to offer.

After less than a week I already have half the Turbine Points I need to buy the next quest pack - and that's without even trying.

So, I figure that by the time I have created characters to try out the other classes I will be almost there (if not there already)?

My only real 'complaint' - if you want to call it that - would be that F2P players cannot sell anything in the AH unless they buy access (you can buy stuff - just not sell).  While I can see some reasoning behind that it also means that many low level materials these people could put up for sale are not there and that in turn makes it hard to buy these things.

For example: Rowan Planks required for Woodworker are expensive and rare on the AH.  And this is required by lower level characters.  Yet my characters with Forestry skills cannot sell their surplus via the AH.

One slot with a 'gold cap' per F2P character  based on level would be better IMHO?

Hell I only played beta and hated the engine. Tried F2P and loved it.....bought Mines of Moria, and subbed for 29.97 for four months.

Oh cry me a river.  Post a ridiculous rant and expect to be called on it.  All content is available for a very reasonable price, you can get it at whatever pace you want.  If you expected to play this game completely for free, you are just another fool.  There is no such thing as free to play, they are always free to try and then eventually you have to pay something to play.  Turbine has made the paying part relatively cheap and simple.

    Correct.

You can still fight the mobs and mine and collect wood too.

(I went for a walk around a couple of nights ago - so far have explored Evendim and the North Downs)

It's NOT area lock and quest lock...

    It's quest lock only.

Think of it like the "Sharn Syndicate" quests in the Marketplace in DDO.  Same thing.

You can travel to the area - look around - and you can see the quest giver - you just cannot do the quests.

So really, this is better than area lock - particulary if you like exploring.

U should also mention that MANY wont be able to purchase turbine points  because their credit card wont pass validation/ check and they ll got some stupid error 8001/8003

so if u aint US player there is a chance for this to happen... your only option will be to call them on their paid lines, and u ll end up waiting few hours listening to a stupid music...

the game is GREAT, but i had to stop playing it coz i m unable to spend my money on it... and i dont wanna spend countless hours grinding turbine points on countless characters...

what kind of game company doesnt wanna take the money?

and i m not the only one with this problem....there r alot of others with the same problem (for DDO too), u can look up on their forums...

I'm also an European playing on the US servers but I never had that problem. My paypal card never got an error (so far).

Have you tried that option? Or do you just use your regular credit card?

Also, do you know if they offer an option to buy digital versions of Mines of Moria or Siege of Mirkwood?

TU2 Closed Beta Testing... looking very good so far :D

yes, i tried, but i found out later, on DDO forums, that they have turned off paypal too with the same error...i mean if i was the only one i could understand coz i come from Serbia (the country is not listed so i had to chose Yugoslavia), but there r others like me from different contries with the same problems...and i know that some US companies can make a purchase from my cradit card (like SOE)

Try putting a "0" (ZERO) in front of your CC number to make up the required number of digits.

Seriously.  I have done this with another provider and it works.

Don't worry - if it doesn't work you lose nothing.

they seem to have forgotten the most important part "be nice to other players and say hi to one once in awhile"

well you might be able to get someone to sell for you and give you the money.  You might want to join a kin and make some friends. We have F2P players as members and we try to help where we can.  We are on Brandywine - Defenders of Mirkwood.

My advice is play the game on FTP,  if you like it...and most do....go to Best BUY and buy the all inclusive Moria expansion for 10 bucks (with free month).  Still like it? pay the 10 bucks a month ....hey the monthly fee is nothing compared to the cost of a good PC and a cable connection, if you afford those, the subscription is nothing and then you have no limits.
