I'm going through an MMO withdrawal *sigh*

KareshKaresh Member UncommonPosts: 242

Honestly...there are just no good mmo's on the market atm. My last hope is GW2 (which no doubt I'll play)...but I'm still going through a withdrawal until then. It's been so long since I've played a good mmo, it's killing me.

Anyone else feel this way? (p.s. feel free to suggest an MMO, i'll give it a shot)

I know what you mean. I keep jumping between MMOs. I quit WoW several months ago because i was burnt out once again. I vowed to stay away until Cata but I couldn't resist. I resub'd to AoC, Fallen Earth, Darkfall along with a slew of F2P games but none of them have been able to keep my attention very long. I've been playing FPS games too but those don't last long.

So I'm back  in WoW, playing a couple of my characters, just doing randoms and having some fun. Cata is almost here so I have that to look forward to. I don't know what it is. Besides WoW, I think SWG has been the only other game to keep my attention more than a couple months. I'm sure I'd be going back and forth between WoW and SWG but SWG is only a shell of its former self. Plus the fact I can't even log into the game anymore without getting constant disconnections. It is ridiculous.

My hope is that when GW2, SWTOR, WoD, Forsaken World, along with some others that  I will find one out of the pile I can stay for the long haul and enjoy myself. I hope.

I've tried most of the bigger p2p games, and a load of f2p. I didn't necessarily make this thread to find myself a good game, so if you can't think of one to suggest don't worry about it. It was kind of just a last thought. I cancelled my sub to AoC a couple months ago b/c I got bored...and I honestly haven't really been able to really get into another mmo since (maybe due to them being too similar?).   Either way, if nothing else, I'll probably just end up playing my ps3 along with some f2p games casually...and it never hurts to get some fresh air outside.

I have felt that sensation before. When I tried WoW I was utterly disappointed, but I loved the large community of gamers in an MMO community. I shopped around, tried stuff out, and that is how I landed on Ryzom; and I never looked back.

Vindictus, it's not really an MMO. More like GW (and yes i dont consider GW an MMO). Fun, fast-paced, button masher. It's free, nothing to lose. Give it a try if you're in US/Canada and can get a beta key. Might be something to fill you in before GW2.

    Be strong.

Before resubbing, ask yourself what made you leave in the first place.  Think a good 30 minutes on the things that made the game bad for you.

Chances are, you'll remember it all when you boot back up...so why go through the expense?

The only way we'll get some good games is if we starve the beast.  Just say NO to mediocre games just to scratch the MMO itch!

Yeah, sometimes the best thing to do is just take a break from MMOs in general. If you are already sick of the status quo, then there's no real need to keep trying more right now since most are the same.

Enjoy the rest of the good weather we've got this year. Soon enough the nasty weather will be rolling in, and then you'll probably want to play MMOs again.

Here's a suggestion- try FFXIV.  It's fantastic and it was just released.  How could you not know this?

(Note: These are my opinions and not fact, yer welcome to disagree but please provide reasons for a polite discussion.)

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I yern for an open world to explore and progress in. Right now only RIFT sparks my interest as TERA (in my humble opinion) still feels too asian for my tastes -- I don't enjoy games where everyone is a supermodel and gorgous beyond reason, and that's the vibe I get from TERA. If I can't get past the art I'll never get into the immersion of the world. I had a similar problem with AION -- everyone looked like they were right out of a manga.

RIFT seems to have a nice balance of pretty characters with classic D&D looking characters, a bit of whimsey and heroic look. THe world feels nice and open like classic EQ and Vanguard, so that entices me, and spell effects for basic attacks don't look over the top.

GW2 already feels too heavily instanced from what I played at GamesCom and cool concept art aside, I haven't seen anything from the in-game stuff to really spark my excitement.

I'm looking for something with a hint of old and a hint of new mixed together, but a virtual world I can get immersed into.

I feel ya, I just hit a wall on Eve & AoC. Barley bothering to login anymore onto Eve to switch skills.  Think its basically because nearly all MMO's on the market are pratically the same core.

We long for something new and keep us entertained but not much out there....

But for stufff to try out, perhaps LOTRO,Pirates of the Carrib. Sea? Heard those went F2P

    I know what you mean.

I want an MMO made properly, exciting and relaxing to play and not tedious "Kill them because I told you to" grind.

None of them at the moment and Guild Wars 2 seems to be getting near that, if AN pull it off, Kudus. I wish success for them and so I have something fun to play!     / _ /

I'm doing the F2P thing on LotRO right now.  I'm enjoying it very much and will probably sub rather than trying to buy stuff bit by bit in the store.

    Important facts:
    1. Free to Play games are poorly made.
    2. Casuals are not all idiots, but idiots call themselves casuals.
    3. Great solo and group content are not mutually exclusive, but they suffer when one is shoved into the mold of the other. The same is true of PvP and PvE.
    4. Community is more important than you think.
