Yeah, well there was a chance to help burn -A- to the ground, and I'm only human - you can't expect me to resist temptation like that.

I will say that I've been surprised and pleased by the improvement in the state of the server. It's by no means perfect, but the difference is definitely there. Shame to took something close to a player uprising to light a fire under CCP's ass and get them actually doing stuff but eh. Anyway, fights up to 300 or so are silky-smooth now, it seems, and last night with 800+ in local, I was getting 2-3 mins locktimes and module lag, but apart from that it was managable - the kind of performance we were seeing with 1200-1400 in 2009. So I'd say that CCP have made up about 2/3 of the ground that they lost with Tyrannis/Dominion.

If we can get reliable lag-free fights of 256 vs 256 on unreinforced nodes, then as far as I'm concerned, CCP have held up their end of the deal. That is by anyone's definition, a fleet fight: 1 full fleet vs another full fleet. Anything after that would be a bonus, although ofc very welcome.

CCP have also taken the "hint" (Hundreds of guys all yelling the same thing whilst brandishing pitchforks, & torches, and burning you in effigy is a 'hint' in Iceland it seems) and they're working a lot better with the CSM as well.

So basically I took a break and when I came back I had got what I wanted, so I re-upped.

Bonus: After I gave up trying to PvP this summer, I just did anoms and plexes as much as I could, and just whored ISK for 2-3 months. Now I have a rack of T3 ships and I can play for free for a couple years.

you think eventually youll be able to land on planets and interact with their enviroments...pve/pvp   imagine corporation controlled planets that you could invade and have massive ship and foot soldier battles...

Pretty sure that that kind of mass-battle action will be the preserve of Dust 514. Capsuleers might get out of their pods, but they'll be staying off the dirtballs for a while. IIRC, CCP explicitly stated that they dont want Incarna to become a FPS with pilots bunny-hopping and firing frag grenades.

I wonder if they can network the two games......I always envisioned an RTS  networked with  a FPS   so you have a strategist defining targets and hot spots and who to send    then you have your fps people folllowing those orders

RTS    snipers take east mountains hold for command

RTS    infantry hit watch towerrs from north and infiltrate base..attempt to push target out to the east.

    RTS snipers wait for target

all the while FPS ers are making the shit go down

Dust squads purchase new equip/vehicles/mods with ISK.
Dust squad players designate a commander for a battle.
Commander picks what equip/vehicles they will commit to the fight and loads them on the drop ship.
Dust squad players fight on the ground while the commander flies overhead in the dropship giving orders and dropping vehicles/equip on the ground.

There is also the implication that losing your dropship will also destroy anything on board so your group will have to keep a reasonable income to stay equipped.

The current planned interaction between EVE and dust ends at payment and planet status, though. Its not known how/if Dust planet relocation will be handled with ships or whatever. Dust squads are supposed to own a capital class "War Barge" to deploy from.

I think you guys started a threadnaught and they listened. Incursion seems to be the content-lite expansion with a focus on fixing performance/bugs/polish that everyone was asking for.

Wyclife, actually people are seeing it the other way around lol. People crying that it so PVE focused, and barley took notice of the Note of hardware upgrades for fleet fights. I'm just calling that because that is what i'm seeing on  these forums lol

I can also picture a special "Fortress" Vehichle that the capsuleer can chose to pilot to help out in the larger battles if needed. It will of course be very big and probably flys as a sort of command carrier equiped with a Pod at its core.

Well its one idea for something that does have SO many possabilaties.

P.S. You know when you consider how eve has grown and developed through the years you can't really imagine what it will be like in 10 years....but the possabilaties are pretty uch out there. like for example the modular system for tech 3....how far can that be developed?

Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981

They are expanding PVE but thats what EVE is lacking atm. I don't see how improving on that will take away from the sandbox, its just giving players more options. Incursions additional PVE content sounds interesting and people seem to enjoy the live events. For the most part it seems like PVP just needs some balance/bugs worked out, adjustment to the new sov system, and getting server performance back to pre-Dominion levels. While I don't believe Incursions will be changing the sov system, the performance issue is addressed on the expansions website and I wouldn't be suprised if rockets or other problems get solved as well.

After Incarna, CCP should consider doing a PVP-centric expansion for winter of 2011.

A pirate expansion would be most welcome.  Yarrr!

Welcome to the parts of Earth & Beyond and Auto Assault that always felt out of place in the game... enjoy.

edit:  Heck, throw in  a little of the STO fail while you're at it...

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

^Yeah yeah, we get it already.  You don't like Incarna.  Repeating it isn't going to suddenly make this feature go away.  It's coming.  Either accept it, or stifle your rage.  Many EVE players are looking forward to this feature, and are excited that it is finally making progress that we will soon be able to see for ourselves.  No amount of complaining and moaning about how it's ruining your game is going to make this particular feature go away.  This isn't lag.  It's not something that can be fixed.  It's not something the majority of players even agree with you on.  It's something you feel is worthless.  Seriously, get over it, because it's gonna be here come summer.

I never played EnB, but that was one of the only features of Auto Assualt that I liked. Even though the controls were gawky, it was probably the one and only part where I actually went "oh wow, that's pretty cool".

Of course, soon after I logged off to never log on again because the game was a pile of junk. But still. I thought it was cool and I'm stoked about it being in EVE, finally. The only reason it felt out of place in AA, was because it was like they didn't spend much time on it and it felt like they just tacked it on in 15min. I am sure, with the development of Dust514 and WoD, the avatar system in EVE will be much better.

I'm looking forward to Incarna even though I probably won't be taking advantage of the feature too often. EVE is a game in which is ultimately driven by player interaction; however except for in corp/alliance channels most people don't socialize, the major hubs like Jita are constantly spammed with scam contracts and other garbage, and most random encounters end with corpses floating in space. Ultimately Incarna will give EVE something it simply lacks; a forum for casual ingame socialization.

Exactly. That an a connection with your character.

I love connecting with my character in MMOs. I'm the kind of person who spends alot of time and in game money (not farmville cash or any of that BS) on building up my area or making things that I like to enjoy and think look good. But, this is completely lacking from EVE and I can overlook it because the game is just amazing, but I would still love to have that part of the game come to EVE.

If Incarna introduced a character metaverse like environment, I think I would have a heart attack and if I survived, I would probably pre-pay for half a decade on both of my 2 main accounts all at once. Not really sure which.

i still remember so many times people said eve is fail and will fall apart...7 years later they have learned alot and each year grow bigger. fallen earth is another small company just like  eve used to be following the same foot steps. point im getting at ..finally companys/dev's realize the community controls the game 100%. if ya ignore us then ur game goes flop (apb any1?)..lol im proud to play eve n im goin on 5 years now and ill stick with this game till i keel over. cuz i dont see if dieing at all in the next 10 years. Personally eve has more potential then wow has ever had. and we all can say with certainty. it will outlive wow 100% forsure. (not saying itll steal the players base) just saying game span wise itll live through it all. i like f2p games also yet i find myself covering 2 subs per month now with a smile. I say indie game company's is where the fun is!. ok rant over...XD whether it be space/station or land ill see ya their!
