No, I don't think so. I sweat this game was at 8.74 a week or so ago.. Just people who are anti-guild wars vote 1. Which is alright i guess. It's their decision. It's not like people have not been voting the newest starwars mmo 1 either.
in winter and spring GW2 had a 7.somehing rating and was not between top 5.
But the negative comments on the hype was basicly very misinformed. (like its not ammo , you can't jump , i hate instanced worlds and so on). i think thesse early votes does actual still draging the overall hype down!
But let us face it. GW2 doesn't need higer hype numbers.

It's kinda cruel to kill the innocent monsters standing in the fields picking daisies. -GW2-

Nope! it's already at the top!...=)

Nope, higher it goes the more 10 votes it will need, and closer you get to 9 it will get practically impossible. Plus there will always be someone voting this game a 1 just to ruin the rating of it.. you know.. the trolls
I honestly wish people would stop over hyping every new game. It only leads to disappointment. GW2 will probably be an awesome game but with this much build up people seem to expect genre shattering perfection and innovation.
I hyped this as a 3 and I assume not everyone has it at 10. I looked at the movies and read abit about it (not everything though) and decided it´s nothing for me. Seems like your everyday MMO with a few highnotes. Not everybody will love it and I assume this MMO just isn´t targetted at me.
All statements I make is from my point of view unless stated otherwise.

well then u got korean grinding mmos
Nah it was mostly the artstyle that put me off. Also I didn´t enjoy GW 1 either which certainly made a difference in my opinion of this. Personally I feel I need something new to bring me into an mmo these days. Maybe TSW will deliver, other then that not too much ahead.

The real issue with a public hype system is the way people use it.
Too many people put 10s for every game they're interested in, instead of choosing an actual number. The same is to be said of people who aren't all that interested.
Then it gets worse because all of the fans think that all of those who don't like it are giving it 1s so they give it a 10 instead of an 8 or 9 to compensate. And then all of the people who aren't fans give a 1 instead of a 3 or 4 because they think all the fans are giving it 10s and need to compensate.
In the end almost no one puts in their ACTUAL hype value.
They should just switch the system to a 4 choice system of: Couldn't care less, not interested, interested, OMG can't wait.
That would end up being a far more accurate representation of people's opinions instead of a system where everyone puts something different then how they actually feel.

Actually make a system that requires 10 meaningfull forum posts to add ahype point, 100 meaningfull forum posts to add a 2nd hype point, 1000 meaningfull posts gives you a 3rd hype point and 10000 meaningfull posts gives you a 4th hype point...
You could give all your hype points to 1 game or spread them over a few games....
This would be a meaningfull way to hype and reward long time members while preventing people from abusing the system.
Personally i would give GW2 2 points and SW:TOR 1 point.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

I would actually give the right to hype a game once you reach your first star as a poster
I wonder if it would work to rank your incoming games from 10 to 1, with only one game per rank.
The hype is fine the way it is. I think there are some people that are feeling put upon because of the unending complaints against their game of choice. it'll level out eventually, unless of course theirs is just a complete basket case of a game, and some other game will take the top of the hype meter. Especially once GW2 is released. Working as intended.
Comments
Maybe when the PvPs cast their hype based on The Mists?
When we find out it's actually half life episode 3 in disguise, it'll probably hit 10.
Im still wondering what was the highest hype level ever achieved in this site
"It has potential"

"It sucks"

Out of all the MMOs out there this one is the only one that I have Hyped.

No, at that point just one vote at 1 will counter nine votes at 10. A rating of 8.72 or whatever it is at now is already insane.
Guild Wars 2!
8.8 maybe when more professions get released and some new info, but never past that I would not think.

+1
It is actually the only one I'm very much waiting for!
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP

who cares about hype?
GW2 is already a good game, even if it scores 7, i will still play it
So What Now?
I think many who are low-balling their votes will be playing it too; they just won't admit to it publicly. The call to troll is strong with some.
