In this week's Player Perspectives column, Jaime Skelton reflects on the past year writing for MMORPG.com. She reminds readers that they can take care of themselves and, with that, bids adieu to the column. So with sadness, we present the final Player Perspectives.
A full year has passed since I began writing the Player Perspectives column, and after a full year, it is time for me to bid adieu to the column. While I will still be writing actively in the online gaming industry (feel free to come see me at Examiner and MMOHut, among other places), I simply don't have the time to commit to a weekly column here on top of everything else.

I don't blame the OP. I wouldn't want to write for a site that is nearly overrun by gamers who take too much for granted and don't understand how they affect the mmo industry. Anytime recently when I read a thread, maybe 3 out of 10 aren't some kind of flame, troll, or bully comment, which is sad that anonymity on the net emboldens such rude gamers.
Those attitudes only serve to fuel the fire of politicians and lobbyists who continuously try to create/pass laws in several states every year, claiming that the violence and debauchery in some video games create those behavior patterns.
It is unfortunate that the OP's articles weren't able to cause more gamers to become more introspective and daresay more responsible for how they treat other gamers. I of course can't speak for her, this is just my opinion.
Thanks for all the interesting contributions. It was always interesting to read your columns. But I understand at some point you just have said all there is. We will certainly miss the "female eye" in MMO gaming here, which often put things in better perpective in a still male dominated environment.
Good luck with whatever you do. ^^
People don't ask questions to get answers - they ask questions to show how smart they are. - Dogbert
Thank you for a year of insightful articles and best wishes wherever the road leads you.
You are a credit to the industry.
can I have your stuff? just kidding, I know where you are coming from. Be well!
Good luck Jamie, will miss reading your articles. I know how real life can be so I sympathize with you when it comes to being passionate about the things you love. Sometimes there is just not enough time to for them all. I'll look for your stuff at MMOHut!
goodluck and thanks.
"Never met a pack of humans that were any different. Look at the idiots that get elected every couple of years. You really consider those guys more mature than us? The only difference between us and them is, when they gank some noobs and take their stuff, the noobs actually die." - Madimorga
Many thanks for all of the interesting columns. I wish you the very best in your future efforts. Take care.
Those other sites you listed dont look all that good. Why the leave? Your a rare breed of writer; one that does not have his/her head up their own ass is refreshing.
Goodluck.
Thanks for everything, I did enjoy your stories, good luck on your ventures..
Without fail you provided some thought provoking, thoughtful and insightful articles, there wasn't one I didn't get something from, thank you for your contribution to this site, you will be missed.
Thanks and good luck out in the wild
I used to visit this site a lot however in recent years it has become the home of negative forum posts, illogical opinions and tantrums so I visit less often.

It is a shame, it was the best column on the site. Good luck with your future endeavors.
Aw after reading the title i was expecting a well written article on reflecting on past MMO's and not having the ability to move on from our rose tinted views of our past MMO's and then i read that arguably the best column MMORPG.com has had in a long time will be no more
All the best Jaime I'll definately look out for your stuff on the other sites unlike the majority of poorly written ill researched artciles that people pass off as gaming journalism these days your articles where great.
Well this is sad news for the readers; as many have said above, we've lost the best columnist on this site. I know you'll take your talent for perspectives into everything you do, and that might end up as a boon to your readers in the long run, but MMORPG loses a level (or three) with your absence.
Sorry to see you go, but things change some new doors open when other old doors close. I wish you the best. I found some of your articles interesting while some of them well I respectfully disagreed with.
Sad to see you go, Jaime. I enjoyed your columns more than most. Best of luck to you in the future.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
Because she took the time to write for this site i will ackowledge a thank you and good luck to your future.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
while i didnt care for your writing style or perspective, i appreciate that you put yourself out there. gl in future endeavors
Ahhh I am sorry to see you go, your articles always made me think. You are a welcome distraction examining gameplay and the human aspect rather than hounding us about a particular payment model. Thank you, and good luck in the future
* I read most of what Jon Wood writes
* He needs more bullet points though
Good luck and best wishes Jaime.
Jamie, you were one of the best writers on this site. Funny how this site loses the best writers all the time.
Good luck to you.
I'll miss your articles very much, Jaime. I always looked forward to reading them, and found your insight and calm consideration of the varagies of gaming (from both player and devloper perspective) interesting, informative and thought-provoking. As someone else mentioned, it was great to have a woman's perspective on the wonderful world of gaming.
I'll keep an eye on your articles in other places for sure.
Wishing you lots of luck with whatever life brings next,
Take care *hugs*
Now I have to go over to some hut of the MMOs to read Jaime's polished, often insightful articles? Quite unfair. MMORPG, you should've given her a raise, or a virtual parking spot, or maybe a car or something. She's probably the best writer you've got. Er...had. Jaime, you turn out the most professional, well-written articles on this site, I'll miss them!
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
