Nice options . But I have feeling that black (and other most wanted colors) will be in cash shop, but without subscriptions i dont have problem with it.
MUCH more interesting blog then I figured it would be. The screens are the best part. Shows how cool, yet practical the armor is and how in depth the character creation can be.
Also, do my eyes deceive me or is the female character actually wearing a FULL set of armor? Unheard of!
Ermmm, i am looking forward to this game as much as the next person but lets not get carried away. Why is a female wearing a full set of armour unheard of? What mmorpg have you played in the pass? Anyway, i think this GW2 system will be better than lotro dye system and that's saying something. I wonder how many apperance tabs we will get.
I was being mostly sarcastic. It is a rarity now-a-days to see a female, human character that has a full set of armor on. It is usually something 90% skimpier then what the male version of the armor is. And if you don't know this, what mmorpg have YOU played in the past?
I don't know if anyone noticed, but it was implied that dye unlocks would be available through the cash shop, however, nothing that won't be attainable in-game

=O, =D! I think i need to hug someone to death!....Wait. On second thought, i would need you to be alive, cuz you have about 200? other colors to make!...OMGShhh~ XD, yeah.
Love you guys~

All other mmorpg devs right now must be thinking: "Oh sh**, they even beat us in armours! WTF can we make now? ....
"I know.......... a GW2 clone!!!!!"
*others staring at him*
"No????"
A: "Well, we can make a clone with a different payment model. I'm sure we still can fool a lot of people that preffer P2P games with perv, shiny, spiky and too much bigger for the character armours!"
Visually stunning to look at, yet retains a functional appearance. A very nice mix and one that I can't say I've ever seen accomplished yet in a game, with any degree of success. And actually, I'd advocate to have at least a couple of dye packs offered exclusively through the offline store. They'd be perfect for it because 1) they have zero effect on gameplay, and 2) the dye system is so damn sweet that even hardcore item shop detractors would be sorely tempted to lay a few dollars out for that perfect look.
And I want to echo other comments about ArenaNet's designers. These folks give no indication that they're working for a paycheck. They really seems to love what their doing and their enthusiasm is infectious. I mean, who would have thought you could get excited reading a blog post going into details differentiating visual spectrum colors from paint palette colors?
This sort of feature usually does not pique my interest at all, but ^as above, those devs' detailed, enthusiasm for the dye system is another feature that looks to out compete the competition. I'm now wondering what other features ArenaNet will put into the game that give players a sense of creativity, once you get a taste for creating things...
I, as well, love the amount of color customization we are getting. While I do think color packs will be perfect for the cash shop, I don't think Anet will offer any exclusively in the cash shop. I'm willing to bet that any they offer for purchase, will be attainable in the game. I'm sure that there will be armor that's more skimpy and/or spikey, just to satisfy that crowd. Anet stated that we'll even be able to wear the armor you see NPC's wearing. So that's exciting.

Anticipation meter goes up another notch...
This was my greatest joy. Seeing armor that looks amazing but also practical. It's a great thing.

I believe it was said somewhere (srry, i'm too lazy now) that you can acquire everything that they have in their cash shop trough playing the game. You can also buy those items.
This means that either it takes some time for you to get it but you will have it for free, or you pay for it and have it right away.
Time is money as they say.

I doubt you can buy everything, in fact there really isn't all that much to sell in regards to gw2. Skill unlocks were only for pvp in gw1 but everything is automatically unlocked for pvp in gw2 so they can't sell any of those things for gw2 apart from a few skins and I'd doubt they'd sell skill unlocks for pve in gw2. Dye unlocks, some costumes, weapon skins and the usual cosmetic crap and a few bonus missions packs etc seem like all they can sell for gw2 unless they want to infer the wrath of their fans. Seems like they've limited themselves to even fewer game altering stuff than in gw1 and those things were hardly even game altering in gw1.

Interesting read.
If they make the dyes unlockable, they might miss a chance to take some Ingame-money out of the economy.
