I loled at the character customization bit, but it's still great. :D

I just couldn't get into the game during beta.  Maybe I will wait 6 months and see how it goes.

  • WolfClawsWolfClaws Member UncommonPosts: 638

Wait, that didn't come out right... when I was in beta I just didn't like it.  But that is just me.

Have fun for those who plays it

    So What Now?

  • kishekishe Member UncommonPosts: 2,012

It wont do well in west but Asians will buy it like nuts...once the PS3 version is out.

You could poop in a bucket but as long as you'd title it "final fantasy poop" you'd have 100 million asians buy it.

that seemed pretty fast. i guess because I wasn't waiting for it. Personally, I'm going to wait for a free trial. I remember waiting for FF11 thinking it would be the game to end all games, but it was one of worse games I ever played. When I tried it about a year ago, I thought maybe I could get into since I was older, but it was way too slow and dull for me to force myself to enjoy it.

With this, it just seems like only FF11 fans are enjoying/sticking to this. The screenshots and videos make it look like an updated FF11 with the same looking races and world and the painfully slow combat

And yes, if FF11 and FF14 didn't have the names Final Fantasy and square enix behind it, no one would pay any attention to it. I know I wouldnt have bothered with 11. I still don't know why people consider slow progression MMOs to be hardcore games. Theres nothing hardcore about watching your character hit monsters for hours and hours with very little results.

This has been my sentiment with Final Fantasy games, and it gives me a twinge of sadness because it is a such a staple in my growth as an rpg player.  But I just couldn't vibe with any of the design philosophies they have and in a bit more of a shallow way, I wouldn't mind fighting corny monsters like giant sheep in an rpg I was playing alone at home but I hope for something more epic if I'm in an mmo,  The game just looks and seems so childishly designed that I have to agree with alot of the sentiment you hear that they know they will always make money in the East and the west is a bit of an afterthought.

I do hope this game turns out better than the press on here has lead me to believe but this is going to be another Final Fantasy game I may never get to play.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

The only way I think I'll ever try / play this title is if they offer a free trial or someone gifts me with a buddy pass *hint* *hint* :)

The rating of FFXIV in Japan is half that of the english raiting on amazon.com 1.5/5 stars vs. 3/5 stars

I like a game that let's me sample what it offers, having only one avatar and having to pay an extra monthly fee for more just is ridiculous in this day and age.  I have very good friends that play this game, but I tried their prior game and did not like it, won't be touching this one either.

I'm sorry but I dont count gathering or crafting as a class. Simply because no game developer can seem to make a gatherer or crafter deep enough to warant it as it's own specific class.

This game has 7 classes thats it.

For everyone that says FFXIV looke like an updated version of FFXI, you're wrong, it's like taking a giant step backwards from FFXI in terms of how it runs. Saddly while the Japanese might not have recieved this game very well, as stated as long as it has the Final Fantasy name there's be plenty of stupid fan boys with no real idea what good game design is that buy and play it.

ya I think usually when you read this the person reads "physical appearances at character creation"

in reality, this is talking about customizing your character throughout its lifespan in the game.  In this respect, being a classless system and being able to take part in any aspect of the game and combine these, there is a huge amount of character customization.

It must be bad. No one has a good word for it.

  • kramsterkramster Member UncommonPosts: 93

I have a good word for it but my strict upbringing will not allow me to type such words

    Sooo....

People were saying during the beta that that SE deliberatly held back content so that it would be a "suprise" for release.

Would be interesting to see if this was actually true.

  • ShodhanShodhan Member UncommonPosts: 9

So happy they never offered any digital download. This would have added more to my bucket of wasted money, on stuff like MO, CO,AION, AoC, etc...

Clueless idiots with more imagination than sense spout this same line in every beta; they have not been right yet. It is nothing but wishful thinking from the disappointed and disillusioned, who refuse to accept their beloved title is not quite as expected. They then start making excuses for their disappointment, in the vain hope a miracle is on the way.

It is the same group who will happily claim all the graphics files have not been downloaded for beta X, or features for beta Y were tested by an external source and will be enabled once live; you know, that same group of gamers with the IQ of a shoe lace.

My Colour Is Vomit green, I puke on the tards with stupid colour sigs. My symbol is ,,!, O ,!,, My enemies are any prat with a colour sig, a meaningless personality test, or a pointless list of games and classes.

I love the "It's still beta" line when its a week before launch... ooohhh and the "All the texture files are compressed for beta" line really gives me a good laugh.

You can sample every craft, class, and city on 1 character.

Even though i won't be playing and think the game is a step back from XI, i thought i'd correct you.

I could not have said it better. I read the part about paying 3 bucks extra per month per extra character slot and thought they must be friken nuts.
