Help me remember...

DragimDragim Member UncommonPosts: 867

I played in beta, and I remember some other options for "leve" type activities.  At the first camp in Limsa Losa (SP), camp Blackrock or whatever, you could of course initiate your leve's from the crystal, but I remember there also being a person there that gave out "missions" of some sort that were similar to leves, but more difficult, and also, only available every so often?

I forget what these mission things were called and who exactly gives them out, and how often.  So if someone could enlighten me, that would be great.  Also, any dungeons or anything discovered yet that groups can go down into for a challenge?

(Sorry for the mispellings/grammar, too lazy to care)

I don't think I have a buddy key.  I did not pre-order, just bought it from gamestop yesterday.  I believe only the pre-orders had the buddy keys, but I may be mistaken.  If I do have one, I'll give it to you, but I will be at work for another 6 hours, and I really doubt my game came with one, so don't hold your breath.

You can get levequests from the NPC in town and then activate some of them at the aetheryte crystal. Fieldcraft (gathering) and Battlecraft (combat) leves are activated at the crystal. You can do 8 of these. Leves from those two categories count towards the total of 8. So you could do 8 fieldcraft or 8 battlecraft or any combination of those two totaling up to 8. There are crafting levequests that you can do as well that are separate from the Battlecraft and Fieldcraft leve limit. You can do 8 of those. You can get these from the other npc at the same stand as the one that gives out Field/Battlecraft leves. All leves reset after 36 hours. Alternating between 8am and 8pm EST.

There are also Behests(?) that can be done every hour on the hour. I don't know much about these as I have not yet participated in them. From what I gather there is an NPC at one of the camps that will appear and you can initiate the Behest from him/her. Maybe someone else here can elaborate on them.

As for dungeons I really don't know.

I do understand the leve system, but there was an NPC in beta who gave another type of mission.  He stood in the "camps" where the aetherytes are and I beleive he would make an announcement that "such and such" was beginning soon, and to find a group and sign up.  Then the mission would begin and it would involve a lot more mobs than a leve quest.

Believe what your talking about are "Behests".  I personally haven't done any yet nor seen the NPC that appears at the camp to give them out but it is available to the first 15 people who accept the behest.

Sorry about that I was editing my reply to include that as you posted your last message. Check my original reply.

    Good to know. Thanks Ordnasselo.

Ahh k, that sounds right.  I don't recall it being the first 15 people, but then again I really don't recall much about it, other than I did it, hehe.

    Thanks for the info

(Edit) I believe it was a Taru(Lalafell) in the Limsa Lamosa (SP) camp that gave the behests in beta. But in release I started in the desert area (which is amazingly awesome/beautiful looking) so I have yet to figure out who is who around there.

Thanks Nicolette for the link!  This is copy and pasted from the website.  - http://ffxiv.zam.com/wiki/Behest

    The Behest System

Behests are quests to vanquish monsters, occasionally occurring near certain aetheryte and aetherial gates. Players can receive rewards such as items and gil for successfully completing them. The Battlewarden NPC will spawn in camps every hour on the hour. They have been most often sited at the level 1, 10 and 20 camps for each starting region.

    Initiating a Behest

When the battlewarden NPC spawns, approach and speak to it. This will start the timer for the Behest to begin. From the point of the first person accepting the Behest, the NPC will wait 3 minutes to begin. Unlike a Guildleve, everyone in the party must speak to the battlewarden. The leader of the party speaking to the NPC is not enough. In order to join the Behest, you must be within the proper level range. Not lower, not higher. From what's been seen so far the ranges go: 1-10; 10-20; 20-30 etc.

To cancel your participation in the Behest, simply speak to the battlewarden before it starts.

    Tracking the Behest Targets

Once the actual Behest has begin, things play out much like your standard battlecraft Guildleve. Your targets will be shown in the mini map along with the arrows pointing to their direction. Seek out and kill the targets! The battlewarden will walk (slowly) to the target area, but will not participate in battle.

Note: The system is currently bugged so that if one group (or solo player) attacks a monster that belongs to a group, all of that monsters group will be claimed by the single group or player regardless of who is participating in the event.

    Boss Time

Once the initial targets have been defeated, a Boss monster(s) will appear. In order to complete the behest, you must defeat the boss. The types and levels of the bosses will vary with the level range of the Behest itself, but they also may add new sorts of requirements in the future.
