iRO is a bot paradise

LainLain Member Posts: 52

image yes, it's true.. 60% of all iRO players are pure bots. Sure, GRAVITY has knowledge of this but they simply dont do anything. Most bots PAY their accounts so that they can bot. So at GRAVITY's eyes BOTS = MONEY so why ban them?

My sister was banned due to a CHARGEBACK that was originaly made by GRAVITY's payment department because of a error in their payment page. 1 month after they returned my 3 extra 32USD payments that were made WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION they simply banned my sister's account.. image stupid but TRUE! Plus, after that, they stopped replying to my emails.. this happened in January 2004 .. still no reply.

Want to give money to this incompetents? Just get yourself into a Private Server! There are plenty running around!

If you are unlucky enough to have troubles in the official servers, most likely you will get no help from any GM.

I can't believe people pay for this game. Not only is it lacking creativity (hello? races, gods, quests, storyline??) repititious (kill this thing for .001% exp, do it again, and again, and again), but its full of scammers and botters. This is the only game in which you can go to a "zone" and be outnumbered 20 to 1, bots to people.

Diablo  II was also full of bots and scammers, but atleast they were doing their thing in private games.

Oh, and any game that you can summon an END LEVEL monster INSIDE A SHOP is just pure crap.

you know why they allow people to summon monsters in town?

to control the merchants who try setting up in tool shop and town

of course thats what most Private servers do

yup they have the dumbest/worst staff ever they don't even help you they just want your money thats basically the only reason why the koreans make the games... to rip people off.

They are doing something about it now. I've seen fewer bots now than in the beta stages. I'm sure everyone hates bots, but they have their own uses. I'm not saying botting is good but theres a few reason why bots are good. For instance, mob control, the mobs are everywhere on the map and bots simply takes control of it. I'm sure theres other good reason why bots are on the server. For me, gravity should get rid of all the bots on the server. It also takes time for gravity to invest time to ban the right person. I've heard stories that people being banned for botting which is false. Heck, my friend got banned for botting, but I know him he won't bot cause I know him in real life. Right now, I don't think gravity is spending alot of time investigating a way to prevent bots. There will always be a way to surpass the security system. We must understand they are putting their efforts into stopping people from botting. Besides people who paid monthly just to bot ragnarok online is sad. They are simply using a bot to control a character which takes the fun out of the game. Serious gamers will never do that only fools do.

Oh man, I know ... they're everywhere and they're ruining the game for me.

  • dot_boydot_boy Member Posts: 24

wat are you talking about? even though it is un-fair for you that they bot it is still a dis-advantage for them...

because they will never have the satisfaction that you will get when they level up or get new skills that you will get if you do it the right way without somee stupid program cheating you up...

and if you want to have a botter gone you just tell gravity thier name and that they bot, snap their perma banned! because gravity never looks into it when that kinda thing happens or is reported.

just the other day one chic got banned for botting, and after she was caught she made up some story
about some other dudes and chics botting too! 1.then gave gravity their names 2. waited a little while
    3. then gravity banned them without spending a second looking into it, no fair trial nothing!

so if you really want botters gone and don't want to spend time looking into they are botter or not, then just give gravity thier name and they'll do the rest... but you would have to take the risk of accidently banning some innocent shy person that actually was just leveling quietly.::::21::

excuse me but that is not true that gravity dosen't take care of botters because they pay gravity.

actually its more along the lines of most of the botters operate on private servers. secondly if they banned
all the botters what kind if reputation would that give them?

    A good one?

Bots aren't necessarily a problem when they're "quietly leveling", because that is just a head-shaker. But I notice bots that actually come up and KS without mercy. So many that it comes to a point where reporting everyone is ridiculous and might come off negatively towards me. Yes there are private servers, with botters on them, but there are just as many bots on public P2P servers provided by Gravity. We expect to have paid for a quality game and a good community. Both in which is ruined by someone who bots.

Sure, some of the botters are actually nice people that only do it on occasion and every other time are a lively member of the community. But botting is strictly prohibited and is listed in the rules for the game. No one bases whether someone is a bot by just seeing if they're "quietly leveling". (If they do, figure out another method because people don't just talk to themself.) They figure it out when they have sparatic, random movements in no direction, KS repeatedly (which is an offense all its own), and when they say nothing is response to you. If you don't have the sense to say something to someone talking to you, you don't deserve to be on an MMORPG any way.

Heres an idea enable PVP, if you see a bot, kill it

or you could just fallow it, and steal all of its kills

deal with it, bots are in every online game well most but thats the thing is to become stronger is the main    point in every game...

It's funny, somehow people have this moral abhorrance for bots, but if you think about it what does it really matter?  Essentially, what difference does a bot and a person who doesn't talk make to the player who does or does not interact with them?  I'm not saying bots are great, but people seem to regard bots in the same way someone would regard the murderer of their sister or something.  Sure bots are bad, but sometimes I feel there are worse things than bots (ks-ers, griefers, newb-gankers come to mind).  In either case, no game is without its bad apples, and with RO it's not as bad as other.

err bots have totally ruined RO. it is a game about economy of items. bots can play 24 hours a day with very little chance of ban.

let me tell u something u probably did not know. a clever botter can make over 50million a day just from drops. easily. you show me any legit play that can do that. imagine now somebody who runs 20 bots. RO is about economy and pvp and how fun do u think it is to pvp somebody who botted all their equipment?

i will give you an example of just how much botting has effected the game. every wizard has to have a phen card right? its almost standard gear for any wizard. u can pick one up in prt for about 1mill. from a bot. if there wasnt at least 100 bots in byalan4 at any one time then i estimate a phen card would be worth about 20-30mill due to its large usefulness. this goes for hydra cards, thara cards etc etc.

as time goes on this problem just compounds itself. the rich get richer, because they have the equipment to reduce downtime and speed up killing, whereas the rest of us get poorer because the items lose value due to market flooding. i quit RO after 3 years to run a private server because official RO is in dire need of a wipe and a decent gm team. (logging bots ip's and trades can easily be done, and the main account should be blocked, as well as the bot.) how many people would continue botting if their main account was banned?

yeah. summoning using dead branches in louyang fields is a good bot killer.

  • SalmonellaSalmonella Member Posts: 12

Unless they drastically improve the engine, I don't see how they could prevent bots aside from extremely vigilant GMs. I think RO is one of the easiest MMORPGs to bot, and even when RO implements an anti-bot program, botters come out with a new fix in under 24 hours.
