REAL RPers Wanted

Do you enjoy really roleplaying?  Can you stay in character for more than 10 minutes even when you forget to take your Ritalin?  Do griefers get your goat?  Are you tired of feeling like a CPA tracking your characters leveling?

If you answered "yes" to the above questions, I have a WORLD for you.

It's called "ADELLION" and it is in alpha testing right now!

If you want to check it out, go to www.adellion.com .

Just remember, it's not available to play yet, but there is a very active community that participates in the forums, plus there is a lot of lore already on line to explore.  So, when you get serious about your role-play, see you in ADELLION!  And tell them BRYNNE sent you! image

Looks like it will never get done to me...

First news story is from 2002, so 3 years and they still are not at a playable game yet?

Or is this being done as a hobby?

Witty saying to amuse you goes here.

The dev team is largely made of volunteers.  Check out the website.  If REAL RP is what you want, I think you'll like it.

It looks nice, but Vanguard and D&L are in a more advanced state than Alpha, so I will wait a little bit more before giving Adellion a shot.

For all RP players out there I suggest Dark & light which will be out in 6 months.

After that it s the turn of what I think will be the best RP game for years...... VANGUARD, which will be out in 1 year time.

You're correct, D&L  is definitely going to be out before Adellion, not sure about Vanguard.  Adellion should be in beta by summer, hopefully.  What I think sets Adellion apart are some game play innovations and the MANDATORY role playing.  That's why I headed this thread as REAL RPers.  As in, those who actually want an immersive experience.  :)

I dont understand something though. Btw this game looks pretty nice. But, how are the devs going to keep track of the community for RPing? How do u make it mandatory and what repruccusions are there? How deep do u have to roleplay?

Will be interesting to look at again.  I have it on my Favorites, marked as "human only, medieval, no magic."

However, the best roleplaying game/setting I've seen are some persistent worlds of Neverwinter Nights.  Selected players (DMs) interact with and reward the player base with XP (and sometimes items) for their roleplaying.  In game roleplaying sometimes is carried over into the RP section of that world's forums (or they are an extension/write-up of in game RP).

Am guessing that Adellion will have 24/7 GMs in it (staggered and extra GMs for peak playing times) and effective game mechanics to track character actions as logs for GMs to review (as in did that Druid-type mass slaughter animals) or elaborate AI to reward for roleplaying.

They have their ways to encourage RP.  My suggestion, visit the website, and read the FAQ, and for how RP will be enforced, the watch word is Yvoroc.

    What is Yvoroc?
Yvoroc has different meanings, depending on whether you are referring to its IC or OOC purposes. In-character, Yvoroc is a disease that drives people mad and eventually kills them if not cured. Out-of-character, Yvoroc means you have violated the rules of conduct and essentially you were attempting to ruin the playing experience of other players by acting OOC, not roleplaying, randomly harassing other players, or by other means determined by the guidelines of the game. Anyone that dies from Yvoroc can be banned but usually several warnings will be given before death/ban is executed. Any attempts to hack into our software or similar actions will result in immediate banishment.

Yvoroc allows us to create a general explanation for OOC behaviour. Madness created by the disease causes its victims to rant of unexplainable things. This can be explained from an IC perspective and allows roleplayers to deal with OOC behaviour among other players.

Typical roleplayers with a skewed view of the world. Why all of you have this lurid belief that the world is all candy and roses, and Pking and harassasment does not happen is beyond me.

Well I wish you luck with this project, though to me as a long term gamer it sounds like a failure waiting for a place to happen.  If you guys are content to have a small community, then All should be superb for you.

Yeap...they started building the game 2002 for java engine but later scrapped it for better one....they had to start everything from the beginning so that's why it's taken so long.

Actually, we're not "typical roleplayers" especially not the ones that dominate the MMOs today.  Adellion will be small compared to many MMOs, at least at first.   Adellion is not for everyone, the focus is on quality not quantity. image
