Final Fantasy XIV PC Controller Revealed!
Next week Final Fantasy XIV Online for PC hits stores, and Square Enix will be releasing an officially-branded control pad to go along with it.
Officially licensed and produced by Snakebye USA, the Final Fantasy XIV controller features a 9' wired USB connection, dual analog thumbsticks, a D-pad, switchable dual vibration effects, and 12 action buttons. An included driver allows the controller to work seamlessly with Final Fantasy XIV, incorporating game-specific commands and actions.
No word on pricing or specific availability information, but we've requested more information, so stay tuned for updates.

any controller will do, that's what the dev had in mind when designing the game. There's no perk getting this specific one though. I personally prefer logitech controllers.
naw its more like when you go to the game store and you see a Devil May Cry controller or God of War controller ect ect, or like whole systems covered with a specific games decals all over it. it works no better for the game nor offers anything over any other controller that can be used its more of something for the fans of the game.
The logitech dual action game pad is way better as its completely programable for any game via the software.
i like my logitec gamepad, this one just looks silly i hope that is just the concept pic?
I doubt SE makes any $ from this. Otherwise they'd sell it through their own online store. It's the same design as a playstation controller, go figure

They break mouse and keyboard support and then offer their own option for money.
It's like going to a car shop to fix your engine, they rip it out instead and offer you a brand new one, it will only cost twice as much as your car too!

If someone at beta phase was telling me they will be selling FFXIV controllers for PC, I would call him a troll
I would have at the very least expected some nifty graphics printed on it.
But this just looks boring. I wonder what they'lle charge.

It's just a gamepad with a skin on it, relax. Personally i use my Xbox controller and it works fine. I prefer using the gamepad over the mouse and keyboard, i find the game more responsive that way.
Wake me when I can play smoothly and accurately with a keyboard and mouse. I hate controllers. Thanks.

The controller is in beta phase, the released controller will have all kind of nifty graphics on it, so go on and pre-order two of them, thank you.
It basicly looks like a very ugly PS2 controller. No thanks, I prefer my xbox360 wireless, works perfectly!
The problem isn't that no other pad would work (They do, we know), the problem is that this probably means keyboard & mouse controls won't get any better, since they are bringing out their very own official gamepad for the PC version.
But I guess there are people that were gonna buy a pad and can now buy the "official" one.

its the interface that needs to be adjusted for keyboard and mouse users. Although, if you're waiting for something like that then you're right, its not going to get any better.

Been using a PS3 controller with motionjoy. Doesn't make the game any better though.
The only benefit to that thing that I see is that according to its product description it will automatically be key mapped to the game other than that it will probably be an overpriced piece of plastic.

Mouse and keyboard work fine, though I much prefer to use a controller.
However, the playstation controllers are an abomination and need to be destroyed in a fire. They're one of the worst controller designs I've ever seen and it boggles my mind that they're so popular.
I use a wired Xbox controller with the game and it works wonderfully.
I could easily say the same thing of the X-Box controller.

For the price of that controller I'd rather pay a little extra and get a sixaxis. I mean c'mon, it's not even wireless.
Id say overpriced piece of plastic. i plugged in my xbox 360 controller and it was reconized and automaticly keymapped. basicly plug n play.
heck that was in closed beta.
Agreed, the PS3 controller didn't change much from it's original PS2 design. It's funny how ppl trash xbox when PS2 dominated the console world a few years back. PS controllers work perfectly fine, I personally love the design.
I don't really understand what you said in the above statement, sounded like you flopped opinions. Although I would say you are in favor of the PS controller? Like at the start is sounds like you are defending Xbox, "It's funny how people are trashing xbox when PS2... but then you say the last part. Very confusing indeed.
