Ok, this is not an allegation of any sort but, I think it's a question worth asking since it is very relevant as it pertains to the subject at hand.

Are you on drugs, or no?

If yes, that may very well explain your above statement.

If no, we may have investigating this debate further.

    That's right.... i'm pretending.

Get over yourself (lol).   It's not my fault you have a closed mind and narrow view of things.  It's one thing to not like a game, it's another to attack others that do.  IF you can't see why its even possible for someone else to like a game, then you need break out of your shell and expand your mind.

Relax ... so defensive.  It was a simple yes/no question, not an accusation.

Now your response, on the other hand, was an attack toward me.  But I won't take it as personal.

I understand it's important to you, but excuse me if I don't share your passion.

We are, afterall, on a forum board discussing a video game.

    Hardly worth hyper-ventilating over.

You basically said the only way he could be enjoying this game was if he was on drugs, so yes that is an accusation and a baseless one at that.

Did I really basically say "that the only way he could be enjoying this game was if he was on drugs," or is that what you made up I said?

    Stop being such an instigator.

You said that if he where on drugs that would explain his statement of liking the game; that is an accusation, so don't be so naive to pretend otherwise.

Being under the influence of drugs is a tangible explaination for increased enjoyment by anyone in the performance of any of a number of things, including playing games.  It is, for the most part, why people do drugs.  To ask the question is not an accusation or insult, but a statement of fact.

So the question is asked because It is not unreasonable to expect one to enjoy something more while under the influence.  If one is not under the influence of drugs, then all one has to say is "no, I was not under the influence of drugs, and in fact sober while playing the game, and I still enjoyed the game.

It was a yes/no question.  Nothing more, nothing less.

You FFXIV lovers are seriously on the defensive about this game.

    Get a hold of yourselves!

Do you really expect anyone to believe that you asked the question for the sole purpose of asking a question. That type of question and the assumption you made based upon the possible answer only indicates that you believe the only way he could be enjoying the game was if he was on drugs.

This has nothing to do with us "FFXIV LOVERS BEING DEFENSIVE"; that very statement demonstrates that your motive was to cause strife in some hope as painting FFXIV fans as being unreasonable or overly defensive. So as the other person said "get over yourself".

    Hellooo ... I was jokiiiiing!

It's a video game.  How can anyone even take that little statement as being anything other than a joke lol

    You know what ... nevermind.

Sorry that your wittle feelings got hurt over your beloved video game, sir.

    /how annoying ....pffft...

LMAO... I find it funny how your only defense is that you where joking and yet you still feel the need to make a jab at the game itself and make some oddball connection.

It's not a defense.  It's just not that serious or important to me that I should have to try to somehow build a defense.

It was a light hearted joke and plain to see to anyone who isn't so sensitive and quick to go on the offensive for every little quib made on a forum.

For the record, I do love Final Fantasy which is why i enjoy reading this forum, because my friends and I do intend on playing FFXIV eventually.  But it is just a game to me.  Nothing more, nothing less.

Sorry, I don't share your passion.  Otherwise we could really go at it and get all "huffy-puffy" with each other.  But I am just not there yet.  Maybe next time ok.

Here is my problem with the premise of this poster's arguement:

There is a reason for your entertainment at these forum posts you speak of. There is a reason that people express expectations of some hail marry patch to come in at the last second before game release.

Most of these people in question have the memory capacity of like  -whatever is the oposite of an elephant memorywise, in the animal kingdom. Bad, is the general theme i'm going for.

They don't remember that -every- single mmo that has come out has had a crappy launch. They seem to forget that even WoW was rough when it launched.

There is a reason that AoC, WAR, Aion, all had fantastic sales at launch, and then enjoyed drastic drops in their subscriptions not a month after. Everyone gets all caught up in the hype of the release of 'the best mmo since somone put the second M and the O in the genre.'

Each of those games (which I reference as arguably among the bigger mmo titles since wow's release) has had to shut down servers, merge populations, etc, on account of people leaving shortly after launch.

Those people who last through and don't go right back to WoW feeling defeated and ripped off are the ones who went in with reasonable, well informed expectations to begin with.

Every MMO sucks at launch. Every mmo is an unfinished product. Any mmo which reaches that point of being what you might call a 'finished product' has peaked, and likely grown old with the majorty of it's player base. That's just the nature of the beast.

FFXIV is rough. What's it got going for it? It has the reputation of the previous MMO which while some may or may not like it, was definitely a success (making it to 6 or so expansions).

It's got the best graphics of any MMO on the market, bar none. It doesn't have major, massive bugs. It actually has more than two playable races and starting zones (vs aion which some measure as it's counterpart that only has 2.)

Sure, the interface sucks. It sucked in the first one. That's cause it has to work for multiple platforms. Get over it, or don't. Most of the rest.. lack of auction house, etc, can be fixed in the year ahead.

The best measure of an MMO is, does it still suck after a year? If yes, then it really sucks. That  has yet to be seen.

    Trolling, off-topic, harrassment.

On the whole human beings want to be good, but not too good, and not quite all the time.
