How much will you prepare for GW2?

MMO.MaverickMMO.Maverick Member CommonPosts: 7,619

There's some stuff that isn't in GW2, but that is linked to GW2: you have the books like 'Ghosts of Ascalon' that together with Events in GW like 'War in Kryta' and other upcoming ones are meant to form a bridge between the world of GW and GW2 in lore and history of events.

You also have the Hall of Monuments in GW, that adds some benefits to GW2, as is stated here:

The Hall of Monuments is a location in the Far Shiverpeaks, part of the Eye of the North. It serves as a means to transfer player achievements from the original series to Guild Wars 2.[1] In the original series, players were able to display achievements, miniatures, prestige armours and prestige weapons in their Hall of Monuments. By "declaring an ancestor" using an in-game item[2] in Guild Wars 2, the player can link their two game accounts, granting them points based on their Guild Wars achievements.[3][verification requested] Points can be traded for rewards, and these can be claimed by any character on the account,[1] and as many times as wanted but cannot be traded between players.

The rewards are known to include titles, weapons, attire and miniatures.[4] These rewards are unique - there is no other way to get them. For this reason, their appeal will be mainly cosmetic; they will not give the player any huge advantages over other players.[5] It does not take a full hall to receive rewards.

New players to Guild Wars 2 will not be able to return to the original series and earn achievements for their Hall of Monuments.[6] The privilege is exclusively restricted to current players.

My question, to those who intend to play GW2, do you intend to read the GW books and play GW as a way to add to your gameplay experience in GW2?

Moving into my own place and getting a new pc and low hour job to support my habit.

Of which I don't have yet.

for me Its all just chance, if I take the time to sit down and read all the books. For Guild Wars 2, if they give a release date, I might play a bit of guild wars 1 before release to get more acheivements.

    1) I already have a decorated Hall of Monument, although I'm missing some, don't really matter to me. Not sure I can invest the kind of time and effort to get those displayable weapons. But my titles, armors, and pets are there.

    2) I already completed the War in Kryta content.

    3) I already read the Ghosts of Ascalon. Can't wait for the next book, Edge of Destiny.

    4) I have $150 saved dedicated for GW2. Hell yeah I'm buying the CE and some other stuff from the online store.

    5) Pending: Until GW2 revealed their system requirements, I'm holding off on upgrading my computer.

So am I prepared enough? image

Drinking goat's blood should be doable, but finding 3 virgins, that's gonna be a tough job! image

I'm stocking up with boxes of Froot Loops.  Lots and lots of Froot loops.  I've also planted extra eggplant this year in anticipation of the game's release.  And I have accumulated quite a few candles.  Am I missing anything in my preparations?

I am going to build 2 new computers. I am going to upgrade to GLAN network equipment, and upgrade my internet package as well. I will order a secondary internet service just in case of problems with my current provider. I am booking time off once I know the release date so I will be able to access the servers the moment they start up. I will dehydrate myself for two days prior to server start so that I don't have to use the bathroom as much. I will intentionally start fights with family and freinds beforehand, then say I need some time to work out my stress levels and suggest a week of solitude. I may claim to be out of country and disable any phones, and hide my car so nobody knows where I am. I will purchase a mini-fridge to have beside my computer storing an excessive amount of energy drinks. I will make sure there is an excessive supply of toilet paper, clean washcloths and towels in the nearest bathroom.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

Now these are some awesome preparations.  I especially like the dehydration part.

My HoM needs some serious attention, I'm an armour whore so I'll be alright there, I'll probably go and grind the destroyer weapons (got my tormented shield and a couple in there so far) and fill that up closer to release. My mini pets are all fine and dandy, my allies and combat pets are nice and full too, got most of my Honor trophies up but still need those last few percent across all campaigns for explorer titles and theres plenty of areas I still need to vanquish.

I'll read the books between now and release and also play the war in kryta content.

I'll book at least one week off work once the release date is set and do as much as I can to keep leaving the house to a minimum.

I already have my HoM filled, have done WiK multiple times, read the first book but was rather disappointed with it, I probably won't get the next two books.

What will I do? Play other games, of course. Comeon, the release is a long way down the road. I'm not going to lock myself in a closet until the game comes out. Many other awesome games coming out before that.

After I quit GW1 I decided to settle down and get married. I never thought a second Guild Wars would come out. I'll probably either divorce my wife or ask her to divorce me. She's pregnant but I'll just say it's another guy's kid.
