Screenshots? How hard is it?

I don't know about anyone else but how hard is it to add screenshots to a game?

I am so tired of wasting my time thinking "Wow this is a new and exciting game" so I register, confirm email all the normal rick-a-ma-roll (tm) only to find out it is just another Travian-Evony clone or worse a Mafia clone where they barely changed anything but the game name.

I think that if the game makers can't be bothered to include screenshots of gameplay for their browser based games, I don't think I can be bothered to register for their game.

Doesn't seem like an unreasonable request.

And to those game makers that do include screen shots...thank you so much it is really appreciated!!

I got exactly the same thinking about the screenshots.

i fcking hate when someone posts here a new game or some websites of game where there is NO SCREENSHOT !!

i think half of us MMO players dont rly need to play a game to know how good it is or how good it feels. dont know about all, but it is enough for me to only see a screenshot of a game and tell you its TOP or NOT.

hating when people are forcing us to go to the website or register to see SCs.

I don't play games that don't have screenshots.

    At all.

    Ever.

If the game doesn't have enough time to take a screenshot and post it on their website, then it's probably not a game that's worth my time to play. I at least need a very basic idea of what kind of game it is, before I even read what the game is about. You can get alot of information if you click directly on the screenshots tab of a game, before you read anything about it.

    Oh I totally agree.

I have come across games where they have a beautiful intro/sign up screen, only to find out it is a clone of...well I am not sure what the original was but you are stuck looking at a screen where it is layed out in a tic tac toe pattern each "square" represents some part of a town with several text links under each one. How many variations can people do on that model really?

But yeah, I have come to the conclusion, it doens't matter how well written and enticing the intro/or what the game is about section, no screenshots, not gonna waste my time.

You know, and it doesn't even need a lot either, one or two would be sufficient just as long as they show the main game screen.

Same here, I skip those games in  a matter of seconds. If they are afraid to post screenshots on their website, than there is probably something awfully wrong with game/graphic. so why should I even bothert trying out.

One that gets me is when they have a 5 minute CG movie setting up the game, but won't show any gameplay footage.

Nice and all, but I'm more interested in the game, not that they hired a Pixar clone to do a fantastic trailer.

LOL, I have come across a few of those as well. At first I was really excited, but like you I patiently waiting for game play footage. But nothing. GAH....talk about frustrating and a waste of time.

Lately I have noticed on the top 100 or 200 or whatever sites there are roughly the same handful of games in the top fice where you need thousands of votes to compete. And yet very few of these top games have screenshots, heck most of them don't even have good reviews. How the heck do they get a player base large enough to get that many votes?
