After surveying players, the Arena.Net team has come to the conclusion that the difficulty in obtaining Oppressor Weapons warrants their inclusion in the Hall of Monuments. These hard-to-get items can now be immortalized forever. Players still have the opportunity to give feedback by completing the War in Kryta survey that will continue to run through the weekend.
After reading through the feedback, one point that stood out to us was how much time and effort it took to obtain an Oppressor’s weapon—the equivalent of obtaining a Tormented or Destroyer weapon! After discussing it here amongst the team, we decided to commemorate the players’ hard-fought victory over the White Mantle by adding the Oppressor’s weapon set to the Monument to Valor inside the Hall of Monuments. This new set will forever honor those who helped bring peace back to the troubled lands of Kryta.

Updating their old game even when working on their new one.
Admirable.
It's surprising how much attention GW1 gets now around all the hype around the sequel
Btw what are these 'oppressor' items?
yup i filled out the survey and stated that those great looking weapons need to be in the HoM
its awesome for ANET to be so attentive to their playerbase, and what, the survey was just put out 2 weeks ago

Will most of you GW1 players abandon GW1 when GW2 comes out??
Actually a lot of ppl already abandoned GW1 and pretty normal if a lot more ppl stop playing GW1 when GW comes out.
By the way you have to realize things like weapons, armor, and achievements that are archived in GW1 and are legacy items that will be passed/handed down to characters you create in GW2
Oh and they will NOT be available to those that didn't play GW1. So, think about this those people that haven't unlock all those things yet will probably continue to play both, at least until they have unlocked everything. ;-)
its not unusual that many GW1 players, even fanatics, are currently playing other games, since the game is non-sub and turning 6years, but they usually come back in droves during festivals and major updates
the new War in Kryta content (rolling update began in March 2010 and concluded July 2010) brought alot of older players back
Crisis in Cantha will do the same, as well as the Halloween and Wintersday festivals
