When this game was released I didn't have the computer to play it at the time. Anyways with all the hype behind Guild Wars 2, I don't know what to expect from it. After searching around I found you can buy the game or the whole trilogy on steam pretty cheap.

I was wondering is the game worth a shot? It's only 20 bucks or 40 for all the expansions (see no point getting expansions if i'm just gonna try it out). Do many still play the game? At least 1 Server Medium pop is fine with me.
Again main reason why I wanna buy and try now is Guild Wars 2 hype and what to expect from GW2, but would it be worth throwing money to Guild Wars just to see what I missed? Also I love the no Sub fees but does this trade away prices for quality?
EDIT: Or even better can you get a trial?

U should get the game if u can buy all the expansions that cheap, i got 2 accounts wife as one i play for 5 years now and i dont get tired and i sure plan to get 2 accounts when gw2 comes out.
Yeah that sounds awesome, however although you can get the full experience pretty cheap now, I don't have alot of money and also I only play to try it out, and see what the hype about GW2 is. Who knows I could be fully blown away and start playing it but I doubt that, I'd love it tho. To put it diffirently not quite the answer I was seeking but if you played for 5 years, what were your reasons? Great game, great mechanics, great community?

It's a 14 day /10 hour trial, should be enough to give you a flavour.
Just bear in mind it's a completely different game to GW2, heavily instanced with towns as hubs to join instances.
I had a solid blast for three years. The skill system and the secondary profession system are great, though you wont get to try the secondary profession system during the trial, you need to 'ascend' at level 20 to unlock that. If you're in to PvP you can create a lvl 20 character straight away for that and jump right in.
The game as a very good pvp, as for the community its like the wow community very very young (and sometimes a bit imature), but the funny thing on the game is if ure good with the skills ur good in everything. The max lvl is 20and i can get a charr up to lvl 20 in 1 day, everybody can but to master the skills is a lot diferent and thats why itsfunny ure learning things everyday, but if ure not sure download the trial and if u like it buy it
It's a great and very polished game with massive amounts of content to explore. Be sure, when you buy, that you get Eye of the north too, because with that you can earn things which will pass on to GW 2. Just be aware, that it's completely different than WoW and the like (that's one of the secrets of it's success: not beeing a wow-clone at all. It may take some time to adapt though, nothing works the way it works in other MMOs, even if it appears so at first glance).
ya the game is good but its not (a massive, online persistent world) there is no such thing. like wow or other mmo, this game is like a co-op mmo i hope u know that .. right

Guild Wars is a lot of fun and you don't need to buy all the expansions to play the game, though the expansions do add a lot of new enjoyable content. In fact you can test the game out for a brief period for free to see if it runs on your pc first.
Also note that Guild Wars 2 will not be the same as the Original Guild Wars. The original game was mostly instanced while GW2 will be mostly open world.
