the game is just toooo slow, even though the game was design for console in mind, console games aint this slow. FF13 UI was fine no lag? I wouldnt mind the game if they fixed that. There is no personality to the character we play. Heck i still dont even know the story line and im rank 12 haha.
I dont know which direction SE is going with this game. I just think they think its FF so people will forgive and just get on with the game. Nothing wow about this game apart for the community if you join a good linkshell

Aww the price of pretty gfx is high. Why is it that other games can get it but this one can not? Shame too cause the (be all that you can be) type of class almost drew me in. Aw well, at least I save another ton of money besides my car insurance.
I think I'm being misunderstood. I was talking about the means to play a game (The UI for example), rather than content.
I, for one, won't put up with a UI that works and feels like it's 1992. For example .
So, if in you city you only have a burger and a restaurant, that its on a third floor without elevator, only a stairway, youll go to the burger because, who think to put a restautant in a third floor without elevator in 2010? (assuming you like good food and not fast food) The UI is a JRPG interface. Its not perfect, and you need to work a little to made it a little easy but its functional and thats is enough for me. Its true if it where posible ill change many things in it, but i not letting it interfere with my fun in the game.
It has nothing to do with being a JRPG interface, name one other similar JRPG in terms of UI.
Almost all the problems stem from it being a console game.
A lot of people hear me saying, "this game isn't for everyone, if it's not for you, that's fine move on, it's okay" and they're like, "holy bovine, dude, stop making excuses for the game." Seriously, that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is, if you're not having fun playing a game, don't play the game. There's nothing wrong with you, just no game is for everyone, and you've discovered firsthand this game isn't for you.
It's like you go to the doctor and say, "hey doc, it hurts when I do this" and he'll say, "don't do that." Except now, we're looking at a guy playing a game, and he's like, "hey guys, this game hurts when I play it," and we'll say, "don't play it."
Now, maybe you'll have a change of heart. Maybe the game will improve in such a way that you'll like it better, maybe you'll discover a whole new motivation to play the game (personally, I like that I can level up all the classes, something the OP found to be a terrible thing), maybe you just need a break from the game. I'm not discounting such possibilities. However, excluding those possiblities, the best course of action is to find a game that suits you better.

So true, but I guess some just want to yap about it because they are too dissappointed about the game. Let's just leave them be for awhile, this forum's heat will eventually settle down. As for me, I am really waiting for the AH and a little bit of faster pace on crafting. So to those that really hate it: see you next 6months or so.

Not to bash anyone, only expresing a feeling, but, im the only one seeing a similarity in that people that are rushing through the game with only one job to reach endgame first are hitting a wall and leaving, and the ones that are living in the world, doing the many things the game have to offer, leveling many jobs at once are enjoying the game?
Powerleveling is a very popular form of approaching MMOs. There are many people who take pride in exploring and seeing things first. Grinding vermin ad infinitum just to level jobs from the ground up you don't even want to level (because there's nothing else to do), is WAY to restrictive considering that there is no incentive to craft in the first place for example, because of the lack of content, the items aren't even needed. The game hides the fact that it has no meaningful content to speak of by mindnumbing tedium and forcing the player to grind on mouses, moles and the like for weeks on end. It's like beeing stuck in the starter area for eternity which is a nicgtmare with NO sense of achievment whatsoever. The only people who can possibly like this kind of "gameplay" are the ones who have no experience with MMOs, because they can't see the boring simplicity and scam behind this system as fast as others.
Ironically because of this FF XIV is mostly developed for complete newbies who mistake pretty FMVs for a good MMO.
I supose you would have not liked asheron call then. You description would have been a game in wich you only continuously grind mobs to no other reason as to level. For me its the greatest mmorpg ever created.
It's 2010. Wake up .
Yea, now we supposedly need a 1000 copy paste yellow explanation marks telling us to mindlessly travel and kill enemies that offer no challenge over and over again to feel special. :P

As far as I'm concerned that's pretty the same thing that FFXIV except instead of exclamation marks you have a booth and a crystal. It's boring. I think for most of grinding on mobs, in any form, as become old because almost everyone of the fights comes down to standing in one place and hitting 1, 2, 3, etc over again until something dies. There's also very limited interaction with the world in most MMOs. I think MMOs need to take lessons from offline single player games. That's just my opinion though, and my subscription.

the whole "guy with sword and shield killing things" is quite an ancient concept.
see: jousting tournaments, gladiator games etc.
yes, the medium of accessing the gameplay has changed but the idea has survived the test of time quite well and...in 2010 as well as 2100 we'll still fight with shields and swords in games.
Sorry, OT reply, but I must comment on your signature. Historically, contrary to Hollywood's portrayal, the "thumbs down" in a gladiator-arena combat actually meant to "spare" the opponent. The "thumbs up" meant to execute or finish him.
In the end, I find it humorous that your tag-line says "Ban Him" but by the picture you are actually approving him.
Everyone needs to seriously back off. Its a game... get over it. If you dont like it then play something else. Dont come a whine over and over about it. Like others have posted "the game isn't for everyone" and thats true with any game, mmo or not. Also note that almost every game is disappointing at the release. FF14 wasen't even planned to release till the middle of next year yet we got it now. So we have about 6 months of content missing and none of the whiners seem to notice that. Either you love the game for what it is and your waiting on new content or you just don't like it which is also fine, but move on to a different, start the download and check other games out instead of wasting your time and everyone elses time by posting something so tedious. Or at the very least point out some things that you liked about the game, I mean if you didnt like anything at all then why did you even want to play it in the first place since you could have read all the other hater forums on this site before hand...

You are aware that you just introduced LOGIC and COMMON SENSE into a MMORPG.com Forum right? Isn't that considered a bannable offense? Kidding Kidding!! Very well said, and pretty much exactly how I feel concerning people who aren't enjoying their current MMO.

Yeah, that's because you cant jump. Jump=immersion...
On a serious note, if youre rank 12 and dont know the story line, you're not paying attention or not actually DOING the storyline quest..

And this is a forum...get over it.
A lot of people can't find anything else to play and come here to vent. No game is for everyone, and those that it's not for will always share why they don't enjoy it. While almost every game is disappointing at release, we need to get our collective heads out of our rear ends and quit reinforcing bad behavior and shilling out the dough for dev teams before they are done creating a game, we are perpetuating our own misery. Plenty of whiners noticed all the content that was and is missing and created tons of posts regarding it, and all of those posts were flamed to all get out by the "fans" to the point that bringing it up was blasphemy. Also, how does anyone's post waste anyone's time against their will? Just like you said, if you don't like it, move on, as long as it is within the rules of the site, it's fair game. A lot of people are like me and reviews are pointless until we get hands on. I'd seen FFXIV hate and still tried it out, luckily for me I hit the OB and got to see it without paying.
I can't stand it anylonger.. This game is just way to boring.. Even in vent with my LS the conversation has run dry and my LS is all about Final Fantasy.., lvl'ing past RANK 25 is very painful, crafting was fun for awhile, I loved it.. but not anylonger...and then they want you to lvl more classes...F that. I'll just come back and try this game later.. It's just a pointless peice of crap as it stands now.

lol yea exactly... people in my linkshell are doing fine though we are all working together as a team building the game up. You would technically have no options if you had 1 class.

The game actually gets easier the more classes you work up together. If you stick to jsut a main and a sub you will hit a wall and it will feel like a serious grind. Actually it will become a serious grind, the wall actually makes you advance slower overall. Its probably that evil surplus thing they added to make you play the game instead of powering to 'end game'. :O

Now I am all for reason and FFXIV certainly blows in alot of areas, but sensible maybe even thoughtful forum debate seems to be a thing of the past.
