Yeah they've killed a lot of the fun in raiding. Making everything buyable via BPs and various other lootable items. I can understand where they were coming from in doing so, less people playing so less raids, but still.

Oh well, it'll be fun for 14 days. Especially perfing noobs in thidranki with my 24 Infiltrator :p

just did a /who legendary on ywain, its afternoon in denmark and there are 9 crafters online. Also if you spam region in jordheim/nf/lab/watever there will prob be someone who can log a crafter on. Also ppl tend to have multiple legendary crafters so one guy might be able to relog and do sc aswell for instance. Again... ppl say stuff based on nothing.

Also i recently started on a thidranki project with a old friend, for the hell of it, and after a few hours we both had template with aurulite jewlery, crafted armor, sc'ed and procs on armor/weapons ....

Excuse me, this was a friendly notification to all that they can reactivate their DAoC accounts and try out the new game. To say that we are wrong that the game has changed in a manner we do not like is to say that you are ignorant and intolerant of other's views. Please refrain from causing a flame war, for this was only a kind reminder.

But he is correct in this manner. There are many many crafters, and the game is not nearly as dead as one would assume. You can ask for an SCer in /region and get 4-5 different people saying they can help you.

Also, I currently am a RR4L6 Warlock and very much enjoying RvR. I also like the fact that raids are no longer needed as much because my Classic Albion characters would take me about 6 months to fully gear otherwise, lol. It just merely kills the nostalgia. While zerging with 200+ people in an Artifact raid was sometimes annoying, it is still missed.

And you probably have a buff bot. Sorry, I'd prefer a twinked character (or nowadays, one close to my gear level) in World Of Warcraft battlegrounds than in DAOC anyday of the week. It's impossible to play any battlegrounds because people like you. And people wonder why this game is dead?

    p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; }

My apologies. Was not my intention to start flamewar, its just passion that gets me.

Anyways, on topic, as already mentioned daoc is not dead - there is LOT of action. People concerned with lack of crafters or rvr action needs to worry no more. We only have 1 server left (the ywain cluster), but it feels very populated and active. I can't imagine this changing anytime soon, perhaps we will take a blow if guildwars2 turns out to accomplish daoc like rvr, but who knows. Somehow I always end up playing daoc again.

Just started a new healer with 4 friends, were gonna play together and max out rps in thidranki and molvik, and then when we hit 50 I'm gonna play my rr10 healer :-)) A sidenote, you get rps much faster these days so you can reach a decent rr pretty fast!

Buffbots are not necessary, but its definitely recommended. When you start grouping in rvr there will always be people with bots in your group who can give you buffs. Lots of people don't even bother logging their bots in, unless the group needs it. In the battlegrounds there is probably not as many bots and groups, so you might have a harder time getting the buffs there – but in rvr your will be fine.

    yeah....

well, i did come back in early 2008 ( See THIS THREAD ).  I have also been messing around on Uthgar on the DAOC portal (free version of the game from 2009-2010) but again, no real serious crafters, so i do speak from significant experience.  Please do not think everyone that posts on forums hasn't done their homework nor expect them to prove it to you at every turn...

I do believe i will mess around with this game again, but only on portal.... and maybe just make a set of crafters myself <shrug> .  Unfortunately, i recall high level crafting requiring a significant investment which has to be built over time....and time is not something i have a lot of these days...

You're comparing the true server, which has approximately 2,000+ people on each day, to a private server that has approximately 200 people on each day. Of course there are going to be very few crafters there.  Truth of the matter is the game currently has been active and there are many crafters, you just have to ask for one. I am also speaking from significant experience since I have made a full suit of SCed armor in the past two days.

I logged in and found that I had forgotton how to play.

There was a surprizing number of players running around the starter bit, and the game looks surprizingly good (on my large widescreen, with a stonkingly good graphics card). As much as I did love Warhammer, you can't go back to DAoC and realise how badly they cocked up the look of WAR by trying to cater to the WoW fans.

It brought a tear of joy to reactive my old friends and see the old haunts - ah happy memories killing Bolderings and when Darkness Falls was a really scary place to be.

I wonder if I get a 14 day delay on my next subscription charge :D

I've always had DAoC subscription up since launch, except for 2 months, when I was brainwashed by blizzard.

There are a lot of crafters in DAoC. It is just that most will not take crafting jobs from people yelling in Camelot. In some regard crafting is a little like being a scout, almost everyone under-estimates the pain the guy went through to become great at his craft.

Last year ... level 39 player contacts a crafter. I want a full set of dragonsworn armor and weapons, minimum quality 99%, and I want it now. Unless the crafter spent time, energy, and gold to run through a bunch of high level craft quests it could take quite a few tries to get a full set of 99% gear.

Crafter finally gets the gear made. Player, how much is the cost? Crafter, it cost me 6 platnum to make, my cost. Player, What? There is no way in He## it could cost that much! Are you out of your mind? I am not paying!

So, the crafter gets stiffed and decides not to craft for anyone else, other than guild mates and friends.

That has happened a lot. Quite a few years ago I got stiffed for 3 platnum, which was a lot of money back then, and that was from a well known player.

If you want something crafted say up front that you have the money for the job plus a big tip included, and do not be surprised if the crafter wants some platnum down prior to starting an expensive job. If the crafter uses the money up be prepaired to pay more up front until everything is made.

If the crafter spent the time questing for his craft be ready to pay well.

You have a level 20? I do not charge for most jobs through level 20, after that, get your money bag out. However, I like to RvR, so, do not expect me to spend 10 hours a day crafting.

And, make sure you give a big thanks to everyone that helps you, big or small gift. It will matter later when the guy that helped you turns out to be a crafter and he remembers that you are a nice person.

With the housing market I don't see the need for searching for crafters (except for spellcrafters and alch's) as almost anything you could need in daoc will be found there, and if you look through the list u'll find the prices there very competitive.

I hope the game gets another stay of execution with this newest marketing ploy... or better still it doesn't so mythic are forced to use their last resort marketing ploy and release daoc with old frontiers on a new clean server with a decent x-realm time limit to stop x-realmers, that would make me resub in a second!

Most crafters take their title down, [I did - a long time ago], so if you saw 9 on, more than likely there were 30+. Most people that keep their title up have not reached the level they want, even though they are legendary, and still want jobs that will help pay to further level their craft.

There are 12 listed in Albion as I write this, and the toon I logged on with is legendary in everything, his name was not in the list of /who legendary, as usual.

Good point. Remember to take your new equipment to an enchanter [Magic Shop (Magus Shoppus) in Camelot], otherwise your gear will be trash, so, do not blame the crafter if you die a lot and can't hit your target for very much damage, or cannot hit it often, if you do not enchant the gear. For those who are new or have been gone for a very long time the Bonus will be 35% for high level characters. With your mouse pointer hovering over a piece of gear, if you have 0% in the lower right hand corner the gear has not been enchanted. Note: Very low level crafted gear cannot be enchanted.

And, spellcrafting is the most tedius job in the game. So, get a program like Kort's Spellcrafting Calculator and provide the spellcrafting information to the crafter. If you have never done this before, a quick and dirty way to find out what you need in the gear is to take off all armor and weapons, then under the Attributes tab start adding up what you need, Str, Con, Dex, Qui, Piety, and each resist. Remember to check each piece of gear to see if it gives a bonus, such as bonus to hit point cap or bonus to Dex cap - add those numbers in your spellcraft template.

For example, if you have +20 to Dex cap and Dex is important, you will want to add the extra 20 into your spellcraft template.

Have a web site that the crafter can go to, to download and print out the data or get his email address [many people have a seperate email account for such things] and send him or her the information.

With Korts, click on View and Materials Report, click on the Save As Text button at the bottom. Do the same with Configuration Report. Copy and send these reports in your email.

If you do not send this information to a spellcrafter expect him to reject your request.

Until they remove buff bots from this game there is no point in returning.  I played for a long long long time, and if you don't bot you don't stand a chance.  Waste of time to go back until that is done.  Oh yeah that would take half the subs away.  I'm sorry.

I do not use a bot and I do just fine. You can purchase buffs from an NPC in New Frontiers, and hopefully there will be someone in your group that can buff or heal. If you run solo just release, get more buffs and go back to the action.

One of my favorite characters is a scout [I know, they have a bad name - because Mythic nerfed them so hard, and people did not put the time in them to understand how to play them.] Anyway, they are basically casters with a bow and studded armor now.

Mythic has nerfed their AOE by taking it out of the Braggart's bow which had a large radius. Golestandt's Fire bow has a small radius proc but it is a proc and cannot be counted on every time. That leaves Volley which has a 30 second timer. Sucks.

Mythic also nerfed rapid fire which used to be awesome, unfortunately, now it basically interrupts casters. You can still kill someone with it but they have to make some mistakes.

3 scouts trained in heals can heal a full group if retreat is in order and the group has no healers.

However, I have no trouble killing purple mobs before they can get to me. I am not talking about boss mobs or high level purples. I can't solo a level 75.

And, in case you are wondering I do have level 50 healers and casters. For some reason the scout is more fun, may be it is the challange.

can people really be this ignorant? buff bot is like some sort of mythical plague  that if you dont have one your screwed. In almost all cases, this is FALSE. They added buff npcs that are easy to purchase and give full yellows not quite as good as red but it doenst matter half the time because YOUR GROUPED.   Unless you play a stealther, this games combat revolves around 8v8 and multiple groups coordinated into zergs.

And if your in an 8v8 you dont need buffbots cuz you have a dedicated buffer/healer, every good mid grp needs one shaman at a min, to be sure. The only thing a non buff bot enabled should complain about is that they dont get buffs for PVE, or if their a stealther. And most stealthers in NF like to stealth zerg so wth does it matter. And 1 buffbot with CONC can generally buff between 2.5 to 3 people fully.

I think the biggest problem is that daoc is old and most of the games pop is at the highend so if you dont have buffbot or friends leveling to 50 is a pain.; because all veterans just powerlevel their lowbies up.

For me personally the biggest gripe is that endgame its such a bitch to get a template up and running, and you have to find one that works for your playstyle.... its a very complex stat system and a min-maxer paradise...

ignorant? lmao. ok then you wanna be like that  i will knock you down.   buff bots are a plague in this game.  there is no way to pull purple buffs without fully speccing into a buff line.  with that said when you do this you gimp your healing.  in a normal 8v8 set up your healer is fully specced in heals, and you use buff bot/bots to do buffs.  You DO NOT use a grouped toon for buffs.  That would take 2-3 bots for buffs.

Then your complaining about getting a template?  How much easier do they need to make it for you to get a template?  Farm glass/scales for a week and go get the stuff.  You have no idea what you are doing let alone talking about.  Before you spout off again consider the part where I said I played for a long long long long time.  Oh and I just recently quit, and never used a bot myself so I do know.

I love this game, but bots are out of control. If they truely wanted to save this game all they have to do is wipe ToA. Get rid of all expansion class past shrouded isles..  Then go back to old frontiers.  It is very simple.  Oh and do something about the bots.

Leveling a pain LOL? WHAT? It takes 2-4 days to make 50 if you go straight there without a bot. Get a clue please

It's horrible to have slam=anytime stun.

Stealthers in the game cry about everything.  They now it is op and still cry when it is nerfed into the dirt.

SCOUTS DO NOT HEAL. Minstrels heal
