really? ff14 just came out.... aion has been out a year with an update. they are totally different games. How could we know what is more rewarding for you?
If you are using your mothers credit card and cant afford to try them both out, I suggest reading the forums a bit and doing some research to figure out which one you like better. read reviews... see which game style you prefer.. one is pve, and the other mostly pvp focused.
thim forum topic shouldnt even exist imo. what good is it other than cause flame / troll wars.
What you looking for exactly? Do you like the WoW style of gaming? If so I would probably say go for Aion. FFXIV is pretty hated right now as people seem to have expected something different(not just in stability and what not but in mechanics as well).
Hehe Kain, you will always run into people like that on these forums, as they like nothing else than to bash and insult, since you already mentioned you know they arent easy to compare (Meaning they arent alike). Just ignore douches like that.
He pretty much summed it up though, Aion is basically PVP based and established with FF14 Being mostly PVE and for PC/Console. They dumbed down the controls to make more balanced for Console limiting keyboard/mouse setups, but hopefully that will change.
Do some search on both to find out there current true Pros and Cons beyond their gamestyle.
You have to ask yourself what aspects of an MMO are fun for you.
Write them down and then check that list against each game (using reviews and FAQs as well as player opinions in each game)
Just asking which game is better for you without giving us an idea of what you like in an MMO really won't give you too many answers.
As of right now:
FFXIV has just released, and its currently in a very poor state. It is heavily intensive on a lot of PCs and also requires a lot of patience to play.
Aion - well I haven't played that since beta/early launch. To me it felt like WoW with a bit more grind and a greater focus on pvp. It runs fairly well on most PCs and has been around a lot longer than FFXIV, so it will have more content under its belt right now.
But really, make that list and then research the games based on your preferences. If you need an opinion, ask people on these forums if one of these games will meet your preferences and you will likely get a better answer.
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
Depends on your definition of good. It's very in depth and to make anything useful you'll either need to trade or spend a lot of time leveling most of the crafting classes.
Yes, because that truly answers his question. It honestly depends. I liked Aion at first but I then got FFXIV like a week later because I was waiting for it somewhat and for got the release date :P. Personally I found FFXIV was more my game. So I gave my ncsoft account to my little brother and he's now enjoying aion(i know he wouldn't like FFXIV though...).
I have played both games and this is what i could say.
FFXIV - very very slowpaced, very unique gameplay (controls might blow your mind if your new to this game), focused more on pve/rp if your a die hard final fantasy fan you might enjoy it. just a fair warning a lot of my friends who pre ordered the game are quite disappointed and it has horrible reviews.
Aion - pretty good graphics. favors pvp, unfortunately too many botters in this game and GMs are barely doing anything against them. kinda lacks end game content that being said its gets really repetitive quite fast. hardcore grinding required. if you like quests killing 5000 mobs this might be your game.

kk last question then: does ff14 have a good crafting system?
Depends on your definition of good. It's very in depth and to make anything useful you'll either need to trade or spend a lot of time leveling most of the crafting classes.
For example this is what it takes to make a sword. http://ffxiv.yg.com/recipe/brass-gladius?id=1454 Don't forget most of the materials also need to be crafted first (like the blade).

Unfortunately I will have to say Aion right now. I myself was a hardcore FFXIV fanboy, but right now I am a little let down to say the least. =/
I give up !
