this hype remembers me to the STO hype we saw a year ago. a universe as big as star wars. every 2nd post started with: "I can't wait". and what did we get?
calm down guys. i cant see that the broken game mechanics of todays mmos are really changed. nothing fundamental new ....
*groan* As much as I love specializations, I already can hear endless debates with people who don't invite you because "you totally mis-skilled your char" or "we don't take any Smuggler along with THAT sort of skills". Hated that in WOW and LOTRO like the pox.
I sincerely hope the skill trees are balanced enough that every path is viable. And they don't add any "inspect" ability. If people want to know about my char, they have to ASK.
Yep, I hate that as well. We Happens to my SM in Aion all the time. "We don't need SM because Sorc is a better DPS" or "We already have one SM, Sorry" The reall kicker with SWTOR is that even if you have an template people can't use in PvP or PvE, you can spec out your companion to fit the bill in groups. It's a great dynamic, and will make grouping for PvE more fun and for PvP fights more challenging.
This game sounds more and more like a boring MMO. Tank? Healer? Come on. Be orginal.
It's kinda original, you have companions who can fill other roles in the game, so if you are a tank, you can have a companion healer. In groups if you only need one healer, and you are a healer you can just use your DPS comapnaion and worry about finishing the quest rather than healing in a group that won't need you.

You're looking at it all wrong... Comments like that are very usefull.... for profiling purposes. They help you know who to avoid
Oh and c'mon MikeB! Why you gotta put down the stealth/healer?? I saw that possibility and got hype!
Nah I know what you mean about hybrid viability. I am the dude who is ALWAYS drawn to the hybrids who's parts never quite add up to a whole class. But still, it could work right? Here's hoping it does because that's the class I wana play.
Sorry Mr. Michael Bitton , but you seem to be a bit a a "pew pew" type player (focusing on overwhelming your foe with pure firepower). Having a Smuggler that can heal makes total sense. These are supposed to be self reliant types who can take care of themselves. It makes sense that a Smugger would be able to do some sort of basic first aid. I see it working somewhat similar to a Chanter from Aion. They serve as secondary ranged DPS, and secondary healing. A lot of unimaginitive players might see this as sort of a "gimped" class, but in actuality it makes you very flexible and independant.
I can see this type of build as being very good for solo play.

With all the different classes and build possiblities I just may go ahead and try all of them from both factions.
