Most Anticipated MMO

evevaleevevale Member Posts: 5

After a dismal year for MMOs in 2010, 2011 seems to be one of the most anticipated years for the MMO genre ever!  With a long list of games coming out from early December (Cataclysm) to late 2011 (Guild Wars 2), MMO players of all gaming backgrounds will have their hands full.

There seems to be a lot of hype surrounding what I consider the "big 3": GW2, SW:TOR and Cataclysm and I'm hoping one of them can actually deliver an experience that isn't suffocated with bugs and under-developed ideas.  GW2's f2p model seems to be its biggest perk along with its innovative ideas in regards to questing and player story.  SW:TOR is looking like the next-generation LOTRO with a primary focus on story telling and NPC voiceovers and plot development.  And well, Cataclysm is WoW's newest son so we can only expect that it will stake its fair share of the active market.

In the shadow of the largest games are Rift, TERA and DC Universe which all seem to be solid games in their own right.

What game are you looking forward to the most?

GW2 or Swtor.  There is a specific crowd on these forums so GW2 will have the advantage for sure here.  SWTOR will have a far broader  player base and will bring more gamers to mmorpgs.

I voted for SW:TOR, because it will be my main in a few months.

But I am really split between GW2 and Rift has back up or 2nd MMO if something turns bad with SW...

    TERA will be great!

Among those, Rift: Planes of Telara.

    Otherwise, World of Darkness.

I think I have finally broken my WoW addiction and don't plan on leveling even one of my 10 level 80s to 85 so Cata is a nope for me.   Rifts and TERA sound good after so many BLAH mmos I am going to play the wait and see.   I have DCUO on preorder and have had it such for a while now, but honestly I just want to see how they screw up the IP.

I have high hopes for SWTOR and think that Bioware might be able to pull it off, but I am still a bit concerned about it.

About the only game coming out that I pretty much 100% faith in is Guild Wars 2.   I think ArenaSoft has earned my trust over the years.

DCUO is a bit of an odd choice to go on there....

Tbh WoD would have been a better choice to go on the list. Anyways of the list GW2 got my vote.

Might try some of the new upcoming MMORPG, but none of them seem to be very intresting from a MMORPG standpoint at this point when not having the chance to try them.

I choose Guild Wars 2 because of Guild Wars brand strength.

For me, it is hands down Rift Planes of Telara. Guild Wars 2 is going to be GW1 but with better gfx. I am going to buy and love the game... but not like I know I will love Rift. I don't see GW2 being that great. Just like its original, it will lose population at expansions and in order to do any hardcore pvp holding halls ect you will have to play every day just about and for hours and hours. The PvP system where you have to wait to party to pvp is lame in some ways.

Is that what you think? Hmm...I am looking forward to GW2 because it is NOT like GW1. It changes from a lot of instancing into a true MMORPG with a persistant world. The WvWvW aspect is also a really nice change. It also looks like they have a really nice new way of doing the fighting as well. I hated GW1, but think GW2 looks MUCH better. And as far as what you mention about needing to play every day to do PvP, I guess I don't know what you mean...I would guess no more than any other MMORPG that is around.

Like most others, definitely Guild Wars 2.

It looks like it can compete with any MMO on the market, but happens to be without a monthly fee. Yes please
