What to play till GW2.......?

bmw1966bmw1966 Member Posts: 49

Decided to give LOTROL a try as currently Im playing nothing but would like to mash around a bit for an hour or two a night in a different world.

Thing is............is it worth putting all that time into it when say in 6 months GW2 will probably take up the majority of my 2 hrs gaming a night.  LOTROL is ok but its just your typical MMO.......go here do quest....blah blah blah......

So what are all of you doing in the mean time?

PS - I actually dont need to play anything as I have my hands full with playing guitar atm but its nice to be able to "get away" from reality once and a while. :-)

Even shit sometimes has corn in it. That's content.

Sometimes poo is soft and other times it's rock hard, that's variety.

Actually the only thing FFXIV even has in common with crap is that it stinks.

Well, I am currently re-subbed to LOTRO waiting for f2p to hit EU. However this is just a short term plan untill the WoW patch hits in the coming week or so.

I will be buying Cata in December and playing untill the likes of GW2, Rift and Star Wars are released. With no release date for GW2 yet I will assume one of the other big MMO's will come out first... and I really like the look of RIFT, so fingers crossed for that one! :)

EDIT: If you're looking for something casual as you have little time, maybe a f2p game... Forsaken World hits beta in a couple of weeks and Dynasty Warriors Online hits Beta next week :) .. to name a few of the new ones!

Play Guild Wars 1 lol. You can add your accomplishments to the hall of monuments thing whill will carry over to GW2. Plus any character names you create in Guild Wars will be reserved for your account in GW2.

If you like LOTR, then you might like Ryzom (21-day free trial)?

Also, Guild Wars might be a good bet (as above) if you like to mug-up on lore etc for GW2.

Vindictus hits beta 13th Oct Wed also has some dynamic combat like GW2.

Considering that some stuff may transfer over to GW2, if im going to put any effort into something it may as well be GW as it will have some benefit if lore transfers over as you mentioned so why the heck not?  Do people still play it in the aspects of doing end game type and instance group content?

Playing airwaysim atm. Lots of fun if you're an enthusiast or you're interested in business simulation games. It's an MMOG. The game uses real world data of airports (2,700 commercial airports in 212 countries), fuel trend, taxes, manufacterers, airport demand, and aircrafts covering from the 1950s to 2015 and specs are accurate. It uses google map to draw the routes and adobe flash for the charts. You compete with hundreds of players in the airline industry.

The most competitive route is usually New York JFK to London Heathrow, if you are based in either airport you can fly this route as long as you're aircraft meets the requirements to reach the destination and land and if there are enough landing slots. Landing slots are based on real world adjusted for simulation. Heathrow in 2002 has 46 departures slots per hour for the entire week. But due to night time rules in London, you can only land/takeoff when it is open from 0600 to 2300 local.

Playing now: Cities: Skyline / Ori and the Blind Forest / Banished

You'll need at least one of the campaigns and the eye of the north expansion to get the hall of monuments. EotN just went down 33% in price so it's not a bad deal. If you plan on really filling out your HoM then you will need all of the campaigns.

SC2 is the best pick, well if u wan't real mmo Idk then

For me mix of SC2 and Cataclysm beta works like a charm. Also you could try some good single player games, amnesia helps to past a lot of time when i am out of town and have no internet.

    Sounds like a plan.

Played WOW for a while and Plowed thru ICC.  Just got boring and it just rinse and repeat so I wont be getting cataclysm...I even uninstalled wow from my computer just so the temptation was not there.

Going to go the route of GW and just work thru stuff at my leisure......it will get me caught up on the GW world so when GW2 is ready at least I may know what Im talking about!  LOL

    Thanks!

people still play but most of the harder dungeons just get ran so you won't find many parties for them. i guess if you want to consider FoW, UW, etc endgame content, you may find a few random parties for those; or i know major guilds still do weekly runs of them.

Finally gave up on vanguard and reloaded eq1.  Having fun on the new trakanon server.  Will see how that goes vs whatever new comes.

I just resubbed for the 14 day trial to warhammer and it's ok, but the pvp is so repetitive in both the realms and scenarios it won't hold me long. I pre-ordered cataclysm but am really debating between trying gw1 for the first time or hanging with my friends seeing how the old world I spent years in will change. I may also give star wars the force unleashed II and maybe fable iii, but fable seems a little too kiddie like for me. I've debated trying mass effect 1 and 2 but shooter games normally arnt my thing. I guess I'm torn. What I do know is that once this and swtor come out bye world lol

Blizzard often gives dates, they just never really follows them. Diablo 2 were 3 years after the first date to mention one, and Starcraft: Ghost did get a date too before it got canceled while it was in beta.

Nowadays did they seem to have learn their lesson and just give estimates ("Maybe this summer").

People expect GW2 to release Q2 2011 but it might as well be Q1 or Q3.

I'm playing Guild War 1 until Guild Wars 2 comes out.  Shocking, I know.

I wanted to play Lotro F2P till the release of GW2, but the suspended european realease has made me move to another game.

I tried EQ2 Extended and being bashed by how much content the game has and the Freeport server being really really alive, it took me less then a week to sub to EQ2 extended.

So i guess i'll be there till GW2 releases.  So many things to do there, its not even funny anymore compared to WoW.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
