In an unusual fashion blizzard actually has confirmed Tuesday is the new patch so....enjoy! As most of you know they rarely announce patch drops until the servers go live again!

It's just for the test realm, not live.

Nope it is for live, the Internet has started to buzz. 4.0.1 has been on PTR for a while now:

Watch, after they install the Cataclysm patch, the servers will break.

Wait... isn't that what we want?

LOL...  Server crashes and takes them 2 months to fix it when they say oops you need the box released version to fix it.

The forum servers will crash yes.

All classes were redesigned. Expect a lot of whining.

    I pity GC already.

Now one thing is sure: our average guild raids will come to a halt for the next 4 weeks. It's even possible we will wipe on a single trash in ICC now.

I know my healing was pathetic on the PTR with all those new buttons to press and keybind.

    Let the whiners start. ;)

Heres a list of things to expect when the game goes live again (and knowing Blizz's track record for releasing major patches, expect the realms to come up 12-24 hrs after the given time):

    - Gear stat changes

    - Reforging - found near inscrip trainer

    - New cataclysm talents

    - Random earthquakes everywhere you go (and they are quite frequent)

    - Random Elementals that attack the city (you have to kill them for NPC's to spawn). Guards come out with portals and you must enter portals to destroy the rift's that summon elementals. I'm not 100% sure this is being deployed on live but I think it is, something to do with the Shattering.

    - Tons of new spells and skills.

    - New cataclysm quests.

    - People with 40k+ health pools.

    - Racial changes and armor specialization etc changes. (IE. Holy paladins get +5% intellect for wearing all plate)

    - People with 40k+ mana pools.

    - New currencies: honor points, etc. marks gone.. etc.

    - Everyone to be confused for atleast a month

    - Extremely imbalanced pvp. I'm warning you.

    - Glyphs completely changed. You'll always have all the glyphs with you, it's hard to explain. You'll need to use Removal Powder bought from Inscript vendor to remove glyphs and replace them.

    - On that note, new glyphs.

    - Tons of the new UI changes, and class functions: IE, holy power, etc.

    - Hunters get Focus instead of Mana.

    - No more ammo

    - ICC Dodge debuff is gone.

    - Warlocks no longer need soul shards.

Also, PVP is VERY, VERY imbalanced right now. Caster's run everything, melee suffer. It's only going to be like this until 85, since it's scaled for all that. Expect tons of crying on the forum, TONS.

    What NOT to expect:

    - Flying in Azeroth. Flying will cost 250 gold for a license available at level 60.

    - New level 80+ skills.

    - World changes

    - Anything cataclysm related; ie goblins/worgens, new zones, etc.

Thats the biggest problem with what they are doing this xpac. Heroes will still be possible but raids? Not anymore. Hell ICC, paticurlaly achievements may not even be possible at 85 now lol.

You forgot a few dozen other changes bro like paladins that heal without mana...

But I think the red says it all.

My brother said yesterday Blizzard wanted to ban Deadly boss mod add on.

If that's true ...I guess it's doing normal level 73 dungeons again :))

  • kaliniskalinis Member Posts: 1,428

Wow its not gonna be that bad. Raiding will be fine. In fact u will probably be a bit op compared to what u were. Classes are gonna be balanced for 85 not 80. Patch day always sucks. Maybe this time nothing will break and we will be lucky. This will not be a 2 month thing. they always get stuffed fixed in less then 24 hrs.

They have tested all this stuff in beta and on ptr so its be tested as best they can. I for look forward to the class changes as well as the reduced cost of ds. I will have to relearn my pally t hough. I find that to be an interesting thing to do while i wait for cata to hit though.

Relax change isnt always bad and blizzard usually has the best interest of the game in mind when making changes.

  • kaliniskalinis Member Posts: 1,428

Your brother lied. They are not getting rid of dbm at least not in any post ive read on mmo champ or wow. I think if hat were true the qq on forums would be out of control.

Blizzard fully supports add ons always has always will. They usualy try to incorporate some of the addon features into there ui though when they update there ui.

They dont support addons that they feel help players cheat but dbm doesnt help layers cheat. The fact blizzard is adding things that tell u when your stuff procs to the reg ui is good. As far as i can tell they havent added anythign that would make dbm useless or un needed.

Just think of all the poor developers working on all of those addons you love so much. The ones that you can't do without. The ones that won't work for the next few weeks.

Those developers are going to have people screaming at them for weeks. Fun stuff!

Id like to know where your bro got this info from. afaik Blizz only said they they are against mods that alter the in-game landscape or meddle with encounters, like the raid helper a while ago that allowed you "paint" no go zones for various boss encounters in the game. In fact if you go to DBM's forum on their homepage, you'll see they're busy at work on DBMv5 for Cata.

They added their own threat meter in Wrath but they did not remove Omen. So i hope they don't kill DBM or Bigwigs. After all they only help you out on timers and phase transitions (which i will admit is a big help for people with high latencies) its not like they stop your toon from standing in fire or doing something stupid.

i find the pre exapansion run in events a lot of fun - the game needs this kind of variety on a regular basis. Im sure the patch will have its issues like any others pre expansion but i think its allways going to be worth it

Tons of them are already available. The more proactive developers went to the PTR and made adjustments or are in beta and made adjustments, or both.

Curse has about 15 pages of addons that are ready for patch.

come on guys it's not like this was unexpected.  Every game that has and expansion makes enough changes taht it's pretty much a  new game.
