Why do Blizzard must take again but this time from a game that is in development? This new add on that come with the new patch was just thrown in to just have it, so that WoW player can now say WoW has that or WoW had it first, no, no WoW did not have this first it was "I be more nice" Borrowed.

This is what I am talking about:

This is what I am talking about: Random Elementals that attack the city (you have to kill them for NPC's to spawn). Guards come out with portals and you must enter portals to destroy the rift's that summon elementals to save the city.

Now this: Mysterious rifts are tearing the world of Telara apart and now no part of Telara is truly safe. Invasions can occur anywhere and at any time, and the danger to the world is growing. Two major factions have emerged to save the world of Telara.

 W.t.f?

We just may see some bit of GW2 and TERA in Cata now.

Is that just an event type thing that will go away come Cataclysm? Kinda like all the undead spawns across Azeroth leading upto Wrath?

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Don't know yet but we shall find out. The way it sound, it will be a bit like RIFT: Planes of Telara.

Sorry WoW had elemental invasion loong before Telara was even on paper. Elemental invasion mini event was added in one of vanilla patches. Main difference between then and now is that you couldn't enter the elemental plane to fight the boss, and it happened in in 4 zones, not in towns.

Does Blizzard borrow stuff from other games (even in development) yes they do. Was that particular idea borrowed from game you mentioned, nope.

While it sounds similar, I think Rifts are going to be much more dynamic in Telara than in Azeroth :P

Well, actually, part of it is...as you pointed out, going into the rifts is new.  Rift itself isn't new with that idea either though...Aion was heavily focused on the rifts between the two worlds...

WoW has always been about taking portions of ideas they like from other MMOs either live, in beta or in development, and adding the functionality to WoW.  It wasn't that long before Warhammer Online came out that suddenly in WoW you could queue up for AB while not in a city  and get returned to where you started.  And list goes on and on...

Really, if that bothers you about WoW, you should have left a very long time ago...

Right but they made it more interactive now than before right? I understand WoW must get ready for 2011, it is funny, not trying to make a big deal about it lmao.

Errrm you do know that the elemental planes spilling out into Azeroth is part of the lore of the expansion right? They aren't randomly copying Tera, this is part of cataclysm's story... why do you think half the new instances in Cata are based entirely on the elemental lords?

Not making big deal out of this too, but i believe in this particular case they didn't really borrow from Telara.

Invasion from elemental planes was in the game, portals which you enter to fight the boss aren't new either. They also did damage towns on various occasions in the past.

And Cataclysm which is in the works for quite some time has major elemental theme in it so its only natural, that elemental attack would be expansion event.

Not claiming Blizzard has any/many original ideas, no, they are truly masters of borrowing and polishing ;)

But this one was probably natural evolution rather then borrowed idea

    Calm down.

Realize all media (games, music, video) is always partially derivative.

Realize that WOW had elemental invasions, quests involving portals linking to other areas, and mobs attacking town -- in retail WOW.

    Relax.
