Anyone else experiancing very slow Blizzard Patcher download speeds in the E.U. ?

Have checked my firewall, internet speed etc etc everythings ok at my end also tried turning off the patcher and downloading something on steam to see if it was a problem my end and that was fine .

At present it looks like it will take several days for the patch to download .

holy crap thats a hefty patch over 4g 0.o, i try to keep mine updated wether i play the game or not just incase i get bored. hmm looks closer to 5g (4.76 for me atleast) i could be behind a few patches who knows.

but no its going really good for me actually 2hours for 4.76 is pretty good i think. i usually cap around 1mps but almost never stays that high usually drops to around 800kps average.

edit: damn it i jinxed it nowit says 5-6 hours >.<

I have to say that they new improved Water effects are quite nice for a Game Engine this old.

Oh god the game is so painfully easy now. We seem to have the power we will need for cataclysm but the things we are fighting are so much weaker.

Everyone now has 30k+ hitpoints and mana pools while the normal mobs are still sitting around 12k with elites around 60k

With everyone still learning the 5 man runs I did were stupidly quick and easy. Pull a mob onto yourself? No problem with 30k hp the healer can keep you up no problem.

I think I need to find something new to do until December

Whoa!  After dealing with the hefty download and install process I was surprised that it only took a couple of minutes for me to decide that this is a game I no longer want to play.

I would first like to get this little bit out of the way...I am not putting down anyone's playstyle, and if at anytime during this rant you feel like I am saying that your way of playing a game (outside of cheating/hacking) is wrong, then I apologize.  I understand that much like art, games are appreciated on many different levels by everyone.

I returned to WoW because I learned that some of my old friends from back home re-subbed a couple of months ago.  There are things about the game that have bothered me, but I could look beyond those since I'm spending time with friends that I haven't seen much of for about 6 years.

This latest patch seems to have brought about one of biggest pet-peeves...the cookie-cutter.  When I first started playing WoW, this wasn't so much a problem because we all seemed to be experimenting with talent builds and there were constant patches to fix (or further bork) talents and abilities.  Then, as time went on, we all became familiar with what does what and did some number-crunching and found what talents were most effective for our styles of play.  Last night, I logged on, eager to see what these changes brought about and looking forward to experimenting once again.  Unfortunately, I found that the talent trees (I logged on with my Warrior) were greatly reduced, greatly limiting any chance to experiment and try out talent/ability combinations.

Then I logged in to an alt to see what changes have been made with the Hunter.  I did some walking around to experience some of these graphical changes, when I found some Sungrass that needed to be plucked from the ground.  Huh?!!  I just got XP for pulling a weed?  Prior to this patch, I had already felt like XP was handed out too generously.

I didn't have an opportunity to explore any of the other changes since I was already saying "You've got to be friggin' kidding me."  And, I'm not saying that it was just these two things that made me quit.  These were just the last straws...GearScore, further devation from any sort of storyline, etc. were already on the pile of irksome things.

Of course, like an alzheimer's patient, I'll probably end up buying Cataclysm, devour the Worgen and Goblin content, level up my Warrior further, and finally praise Blizzard for the treasure they have bestowed upon us.

    Currently Playing: Nothing...I'm developing.
    Looking Forward To:

To be fair the gutting of the talent trees hasn't really changed much since everyone specced almost identically in a given tree anyway when they were playing seriously. It does kind of take some of the 'fun' out of the talents though and makes me wonder why they didn't just scrap the trees entirely... there's no real choice to them any more so the entire mechanic is a little defunct.

On the whole though I'm pretty happy with the changes.

    I hates this patch :(

Seems like they made tanking a little harder. My warrior is better all around, but threat generation seems wonky.

Right now it's a dog's breakfast of bugs and performance issues major and minor - and a bunch of relearning - in exchange for very little added value.  Addons are mostly broken and frantically being updated.  Blizzard eventually gets these things right, but this week is a wonderful week to take a break from the game.

I am currently leveling a Warlock (lvl 25) and I can tell you that is is ridicoulus easy to kill for me now.

A Fel Guard in lvl 10+, "the attack who makes Searing Pain 100%crit + Searing Pain + some dots and Life Drain + Sould Harvesting (get back HP and 3 soul shards, 30s CD) = Kill 1 mob in 4-5sec and still 100%hp and 100% mana (around that, atleast).

Really nice patch for players who are leveling a warlock!

From what I understand it's a great patch for casters in general. For melee, you will have a bit of a rough time, at least in comparison to caster classes and specs.

Really, I find it to be fun. More of a challange to hold agro.. Maybe, I don't really see it...besides with rend the way it is, it's like a pallys consecration. You just need to put in on once and it jumps to all the surrounding mobs on you and gets refreshed every time you use thunder clap..

All I can say is big changes and LOTS of LAG and Disconnets alone with professions poofing.

Maybe it will be stable by the time Cat goes live then it will take weeks or months to work it all out. :(

Ahhhh brings back memories of the patch trasitions from classic to bc and bc to wrath. I love it cause of all these new changes and because of all the class imbalances before they iron them out before cata. Man I'm going to have some imba fun before it ends. This only happens once every expac.

the new download launcher... idk if there going to use yet. But the cate launcher will allow u to play after the core files are done. and then it downloads the rest over time. As for how big it is for Retail wow to Cate wow, idk. Catecylsm cilent for beta was 14gigs, after the intial gig install (which took like 30minutes to install).

He, he, ... was about to post nearly same text. :-)) Patch is awesome.

95% in game chat or forum complains would be eliminated if people would only TRY to LEARN to play new way. Many thing are to be forgot .. and new learned. And that takes time.

There are only minor complains from my side .... i.e. top spells were available at 60, now 70. I really hate this. Just leveled my warlock minutes before servers went down for patch 4.0.1, was happy owner of haunt ... to discover next time is gone and will have to work next 10 levels. :-(

There is also bug with nameplates that was driving me mad. Fortunately /console bloattest 1 in game can solve problem, however have discovered DocsNamePlates addon that is avesome which is even better.

All in all ... can't wait for Cataclysm. :-))
