The official EVE developer blog has been updated by a new team member, CCP Omen. In his debut post, Omen discusses his role in working on Planetary Interaction. Planetary Interaction encompasses many aspects including making planets look good up close and the CCP team has a lot in store for EVE: Incursion.
Here's some stuff you can expect in Incursion.
Upgradable Command Centers will allow players to increase and decrease the CPU/Power capabilities of their colony without having to tear it all down (existing undeployed command centers will be migrated to the new system).
Only the first Command Center must be bought and hauled in space, after that there is no longer a need to haul command centers in order to upgrade
Surveying has been radically revamped and will allow players to create extraction programs that span anything from an hour to 14 days!
Extractors can now be moved when in program creation mode

do i undestand this correctly? you will be able to colonize planets? you'll be able to populate your own planet? what's next? making your own space station?
if that is correct then......WoW! that's incredibly awesome!
i'v always thought Eve needed more interaction with those planets instead of just having them as a pretty backdrop. if they truly implement this i'm subbing.

In all fairness, you can colonize the planet now, but I'm not sure if it is what you are thinking of. Colonization consists of placing your command center, and various other structures in order to capitalize on the resources available on the planet. It isn't like a "SimCity" style interaction so much as setting up your extractors and storage/production facilities to generate various commodities.
What I got from the blog is that they are tweaking it a bit and addressing some concerns/complaints with the current system. I like the idea of upgradeable command centers versus rebuilding the whole colony. Extraction programs sound pretty neat as well if they are meant as a mechanism to queue extraction cycles (versus being limited to the predefined cycles), but then why would anyone use anything other then a 30min cycles if they could create a queue?

oh...ok then, i was not aware. i'v only played the 14 day free trial....the PI never came up (and no, i never read the 400 page manual). i might have to re-sub just to take a look at this.
I haven't played around with this on SiSi yet, but I really hope they increase the profits from the colonies drastically.
Because, 4mil for running my colony with 5hr extractors constantly running on a rare 0.0 planet for a month is awesome money. Let me tell you.

The game has already implemented the planetary interaction, this is an upgrade to what is already there. You are able to crate your own "Player Owned Stations" in game as well. This upgrade to planetary interraction will make it more flexable and easier to manage, can't wait to get my hand in it!

You can already build your own stations, just requires sov and a lot of isk.
Yeah. Spend money on a subscription, use lots of isk and time to train your skills and set up your 'colony' and then have some Dust 514 horses arse with a free subscription come along and blow it all to hades. That sounds real fun.

That planets is already there, only if have 3 accounts and 75 ecractors per account it gets boring after a while. Because in beginning it took more than houer to set all extractors on. Fo some that have already elite command centes what is thepoint of decresing you have max already, If can walk in stations or on planet which must be console game dust514. The walk in station they did show us already in 2005 and yhat while again be postponed 2011.
So if read shartaker correctly i need a fence around my facturis and a good machinegun

EVE's economy is based on destruction and replacement. Why should PI get a free pass?

While these improvements are much needed and definitely a step in the right direction, PI is still sadly lacking in 'fun'. PI is currently a mini, single player game within EVE for all intents and purposes. When they finally get around to PvP and player cooperation/interaction then PI will really become a part of EVE. The system still needs a LOT of work.

It needs to make a relative amount of money before they can encorporate any sort of PVP into PI.
I mean think about it, you can make more money in an hour using nothing but Frig 3 and the basic guns skills in an hour than you can make with CC Upgrades 4 in 2 days.
