Organised? nope. But still better the what we have. My chance of finding what i need will go high as 1/100 compared to 1/1000 right now.

lol no kidding. I've been browsing the people sitting around town or at camps when I'm there. I wonder if they will have some sort of indicator in the game as far as which ward is for what. Or will I have to print this out:

Since most people only have one retainer (not sure if you can have more yet, if not might change w/patch), we're still going to see a lot of items we're not looking for. Are they implementing a search feature?

Everyone in a single zone having to shout what they are selling is more efficient and less stifling than the current system. A system like EQ1 pre-bazaar would be an upgrade. The current system practically provides tools to make it harder to both sell and buy items in the market.

Read it once and liked how it sounded: the current market system is an unmitigated disaster.

Still waiting for the patch notes before I give them credit for anything.

Yes and there was even talks about giving us more free retainers. Not sure if they still going to keep their promise though. But this new system will still be a mess because a small hiccup on servers makes your retainer crash. So if you find what you looking for chances are it wont be there.

They really need to fix retainers after implementing searchable market.

Awesome, glad to see they're working on some of the major complaints people have. I'll be interested in watching how this game progresses.

What I truly hope is that they add some meaningful (to me of course, opinions may vary) content. Not that I want to quest to level in every game, but having some focus is always fun for me. I did however play EQ1 for almost 2 years, and never did one quest so I'm going to grind as long as I'm in a fun group of people to talk to.

Back on topic, a more streamlined market ward will be a HUGE step ahead for the game, and I'm glad to see them already addressing some of the larger issues.

Also dont be disappointed if with this patch all you get is market wards sorted out in different categories. There is nothing in game at present which shows there will be a searchable window of some kind for market wards.

I highly doubt we will get search function in this patch. Its SE after all and anyone who played FFXI knows how slow they are with fixing things.

I don't expect market wards sorted by what goods get a tax break will make a real big impact.   You'll still have to painstakingly hunt across several retainers and that's going to be a chore.

However, as a workaround, it will at least spread the retainers out a bit and make it so if you go to a ward of the appropriate category there's a much better chance that at least one of those retainers loitering about will have the specific item you want.

Do note that the organized marketplace is not considered the end of their planned improvements to the player market.

I still think catagorized market and allow people to post comments on their stall is the way to go right now.

With the current setup of item quality, AH will be a very very big mess.

It is almost impossible to know the exact quality of the item just by looking at it. The only way to know for sure is to equip the item. The star presents a range of value and not a fix one. At least that is how it was understood in beta. There's a post in beta forum but it's gone now.

The exact value does related to the maker's skill I believe. Once crafter's reputations and brand names are established then introduce AH and everything should fall into places.

They should have somethign where one can hit "shift" or some key and it brings up little signs over the sellers.

I'd rather have a list of 20 people with my specific item and gamble with the quality then have to search a hundred vendors that say "Weapons" that only have 1 weapon and 9 pieces of crap.

Personally, I'm hoping they do something a bit more interesting than just another auction house.  Apparently they were skittish about that idea because in Final Fantasy XI there was a great deal of inflation on the auction house that is thought to be brought about by gold farmers manipulating the market.  Something that is considerably more resistant to that would be a good start.

  • gold spamming is in almost every game, i'd gladly have them in game if it ment an AH. 1 month is goin bye bye soon. i really want a reason to continue playing this. AH being a partial reason to keep at it.

Also on 10/15 a level 5 Mew will be on the WFC for owners of Pokemon Gold & Silver.

You mean what we are already doing in game now? On the topic though, as much as I'ld like to see the market wards fixed and a search function added, I dont think this will change things much. Most of the buying and selling rigth now is happening outside those wards anyway. Whatever changes they make to it will only add another facet of availability to the game. People adapt, and the people playing have already begun to adapt to the ward problem, we aren't using it anymore, we have moved on already. The wards getting fixed will help the people who are not in the Hand professions the most, those in the Hand are already working in thier own live marketplaces.

(DISCLAIMER - The use of the word YOU in the above post is not directed at any one person in particular, but towards those who fall into the category itself - there is no personal attack here, neither intentional nor implied.)

Except the reasons for the gold sellers being proficient in XI are pretty much gone in XIV. Everything of value is crafted, not looted. Everyone is starting at the same time, so the NA players aren't a year and a half behind the Japanese and thus being started out in a top heavy economy, thus enticing them to buy gil to "catch up". I will give credit to SE in this regard.

If only i could tell you how wrong you are and out of touch with in game economy. People have not adapted they are just getting by waiting for proper market search tools or an AH. Check FFXIV core or any other site. Biggest complains are UI and lack of AH.

I can bet with you that the moment something better is implemented then current system the afk shops will be gone and so will the buying/selling outside the wards. i don't know who are these WE but its absurd to think that players have moved on.

If SE doesn't do something about the markets wards, once 30 days are over FFXIV is going to bleed subs. you can quote me on this and bookmark this thread and tell me if i was wrong.
