I've been following the game's production for quite some while, and still haven't heard any mention of the PvP content . Now either I haven't been paying attention very well or there isn't any word of if so very little. Can someone please fill me in?
This is the only word I've heard so far
Now with the PvP War Zones, they are going to be instanced as well?
The PvP War Zones are very similar to what you see in WAR and WoW.
Will there be any instances of open PvP or is that something you have on your map?
Well, we haven't really talked much about that yet, but I'd rather not say much about that. But since other games have that, it's a likely assumption.
So you are looking at it?
We will have open PvP play and we will have instances, I'll just put it that way.

They have a strict policy about not talking about features that are not fully implemented, so there has been very little said about pvp so far. You can expect "arena" type battles, as well as instanced "battlegrounds". There will probably also be a few contested planets with open PvP, but in general all PvP will be consensual so there will be no ganking.
Ahh alright didn't know that, thanks
This is all that is known about PvP for now from SWTOR forums, which is not much:

How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder, without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better, and not the world about them?

No word on PVP servers? I read different quotes and it ends up sounding like entirely different games! "Being able to decide if you want to attack them or not" sounds to me like pve servers and dueling/flagging. But then hearing things like "Yes Open world PvP" sounds very much like a pvp server. Arena has never excited me. Pillar humping is the worst video game feature I have ever experienced. Huge massive battlegrounds that are not a race for a pve objective DO excite me though. While I am VERY excited for the massively huge and amazing sounding pve story and lore I am just as excited to take part in the "War" in "Star Wars". PVE is amazing but PVP is in my opinion JUST as important. Playing against humans in competition is more thrilling and rewarding for me personally than a competition against a computer controlled AI could ever be. Humans are so unpredictable.
My greatest thrill in MMO's is random world PVP battles. Be it ganking or spontanious wars. When I first started playing wow years back my buddy was a real character. Joesleezy, the one who brought me away from FPS to MMORPG. We were in Westfall and he loved to kill alliance characters at every oppurtunity possible. Se we go to the town near the Deadmines instance (Sentinal Hill I believe it was) and he starts to kill as many people as he can. Soon alliance 60's started to fly in like crazy, but at the same time Horde 60's show up in DROVES out of the blue. His little gank fest turned into a GIANT 50+ person pvp free for all that lasted for a few hours. Ever since that day I have never felt the same excitement from a FPS that I do from an MMO. Mind you that now WOW is not much more than a game of never leave the city, que for random heroics, que for battlegrounds, que for arenas. The last time that I experienced some good random world pvp was before the introduction of cross server instant que pve instances and battlegrounds. Mind you this does fix the need to wait for hours to que up.
Alterac Valley used to be amazing. It was like 100 people in this giant battleground! Sometimes you would see MASSIVE battles in the middle of the ice lake, other times giant PVE bosses could be summoned to fight for your faction. SO many mini battles going on all over the map to destroy towers, bunkers, free pve bosses and escort them from behind enemy territority, control respawn graveyards. It was an amazing battleground. Sadly it is now a race to see who can kill the enemy pve boss the fastest. Most AV's now are over in under 5 minutes. No glorious battles exist anymore in wow.
City raids were always a blast as well. Seeing that video of the Star Wars Old Republic attack with the ship crashing through the wall called "Decieved" made me envision a faction city raid! I hope I am not decieving myself getting hyped up for this game. I like the pew pew pew and I likes the pvp. Arena, not so much. Battlegrounds could be promising if they can pull it off.
b/c there isnt any thats why they took some Mythics employees to work on it . I think somewhere alone the line they forgot they are making mmo not single player game.
You may think all you like. Until the beta arrives and the launch nears it's all speculation anyway, and I think that talk of how SW:TOR is a singleplayer game is BS talk and therefor hilariously funny in its ignorance.
