Mortal Online Official Web Site Gets Great New Look

RohnRohn Member UncommonPosts: 3,730

Just as the title says, they've redone the look of the entire official website.

It looks a LOT better than before, in my opinion.

I frankly didn't care much for it, but YMMV

Can't say I love the white but I think it's much better than the old screen.  The menus are laid out better.

Also, they have finally removed all the stuff NOT in the game from the "Features" page.  This was always a big issue for me.. as they kept advertising things like the diety system.. and the ability to build temples to your god and attack/destroy ones belonging to your enemies.

Lastly, they updated the Refunds page to more accurately reflect consumer laws and protections.

    Both are good/needed changes.

Somehow, as soon I read the topic I knew who was the author. I would rename it to "MO website updated to look atleast a bit professional".

I pesonally too like it, despite thinking that green background color choice is a bit weird considering the games theme. It's also a bit fun that you still can bypass entering your age by simply clicking one of the menu options. The "get MO now" button also feels weird, they should try to keep same style on all three upper menu choices (chronicles, login, get MO), at the moment they feels just misplaced.

The new website look is awesome, clearly some thought and effort put into it. I would disagree with the above poster, the point of having the buy MO button clash with its surroundings is to make it clear and obvious to a reader where they can buy the game.

True, yet still they could make it have a more fitting look.

because that's exactly what people have been dying to see, a new website skin.

this actually kind of pisses me off.

work on the damn game SV! not on the stupid website!

get this epic patch rolling asap and give something for players to do instead of wasting time and resources remaking your stupid website.

serioulsy how many times have you said to yourself "hum, i wander when they will re-skin their website? i cant wait for some new layouts, and pictures."  NEVER.

i think i'v been on their website like  5 times since i bought the game. nobody cares about the website. we want stuff to battle over and do IN GAME. and we want it fast before we are forced to find a new mmo due to complete boredom.

They are planning to start major advertising after epic patch, so it's understendeble they want a nice website to lure new customers to think the game is nice and polished.

     that's exactly my point.

SV wasting resources and money on all the fluf and exterior polishing.

polish the game, not the website. the webise was fine, the game IS NOT. there is no point on having an awesome webiste if then people buying the game can only post about how broken, empty and boring it all is.

nobody is gonna stay because the website got a facelift. nobody even looks at the website more then a few times. people will come and stay if you have timely and constant improvements to the game it's self. that guy that spend days drawing up and remaking the webiste could have used the time to help speed up this very overdue epic patch. instead here we are, still waiting, looking at the new shiny website, and wanting to log onto MO less and less every day.

The things that SV has been doing to MO has been what we in the software world call "fluff". At this point it's clear that the focus is on that, hence the new build to get speedtree working (pretty), new website, etc. Next up, watch for a marketing push. It's kind of classic.

But this is what I've seen a lot of struggling products do, is try to slap a new face on the same old stuff and resell it with some advertising. It rarely works. That said, if the issues they have outstanding have been resolved, then they could retain some customers and attract more, but there's barely a place that has looked at MO in a positive light yet, and it's not because they hate SV, but because the game is flat out broken. When the problems are fixed, when there's more to do and the content isn't stale, is when MO will be a winner. It says a lot that they've spent effort to basically redesign their entire site, yet still provide the excuse of 'time' for responding to the requests of their users.

I find it interesting that the newly designed website only links to some 10 month old preview blurbs under their "Reviews" tab...

Given that it's 4 months post release... they should probably have just deleted that section.  No one is really going to care about a preview blurb that's 10 months old and the game has been released for 4 of those months.  Maybe they are holding out for positive press based on the Mortal Online 2.0 patch.  Dunno... just seemed strange.

There been no "positive" press so far what I know, even the mildest reviews said game was broken and unpolished.

Great new website with all old out dated imformation plugged into it. This is the perfect example of MO . Some of the links even point to the old websits front page its comical at best. My favorite part, the latest "Under Developement" section that was last updated on September 3rd how out of touch does a community manager need to be ??

These guys are the poster boys on how NOT to market a game.
