POLL: WoW better or worse after Patch 4.01

spankybusspankybus Member UncommonPosts: 1,367

I have seen a lot of rants and praise on this topic, in and out of game. So lets just make a poll, shall we?

I voted "Better" - for now anyways.  I'm busy working my way through my stable of characters (leaving the poor hunter for last - since they're still really in a beta state)  Since I didn't play in the beta or on the ptr, it's all new.  While I don't like what the changes have done - specifically for levelling up characters - I only have 1 sub 80 (pally @ 64) I'm having fun with the rest of it...especially the current "QQ" about mages (30K crits is funny)

It got me to resub - if only until Cata drops - then I'll re-evaluate!

I voted no better/no worse/just different.  I too have a pali and he is very strong at level 61 however its my understanding that by level 80-85 it will not seem so.

WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.

People are easily pulling 65-70k arcane blast crits. Just reforge all the spirit on your gear into mastery, use glyphed Mage Armor and enjoy the fireworks.

Back on topic, if your talking about the current state of the game, its definitely worse right now with mass class imbalance and bugs galore but its hardly a surprise if you've been around for the previous 2 pre-expack patches. But i am sure that wont stop all the doomsayers and jaded ex-players from going on a smear campaign.

I only just started playing again after a long break...and after two days...BAMN, whole new ball game. So far though it seems cool.

I just hope the actual cataclysm doesn't happen when i am at work!!

A good read, and one that quelled some of my fears about the new patch (it's installing as I type this). I always enjoy reading your blogs anyways Teala. ^.^

Curious patch: if you had asked me that question in the first 2 hours, I would have said I was afraid Blizzard went a bridge too far.

In the second day now and I have to say GC was spot on.

Although to come back I would wait for patch 4.0.3, because the dynamic events and content and new combos will be on.

The problem was simply ... that players needed to relearn to play the classes from scratch.

The old trics didn't work anymore for many of the classes.

    Simple as that.

Foundation is back on track in WOW. Grtz Ghostcrawler.

I haven't really made up my mind about it yet, need to play it some more.

Some of it I like, other parts not so much.

I voted for it being different since I like some of the changes and I dislike some of them. Overall I think the changes balance out, the game is still quite playable as a casual friendly, quest grinding, themepark.

They improved a lot of the graphics so visually it is better, but that is not what keeps me playing. All the talent trees recieved a pruning and the glyph system had a overhaul, but both of these had very little impact on my game play. I'm one of those that tries a build and if it works I never touch it again. So far I like all the improvements to the UI and for the first time in a LONG time, I am using the in game raid frames without complaint.

Most of the classes now do more DPS than they did pre-patch which is where I feel Blizzard messed up. They've warned us, for months, that when Cata releases, we will be faced with major changes to PvE difficulty. Instead of making some of those changes now and letting the player base adjust gradually to Cataclysms more challenging content, they went the opposite direction and made PvE content easier and faster to clear than ever. So over the next two months players will get even more complacent and be extremely lost when they experience Cata content.

Not enjoying it at all at the moment (not that I was before but at least that was due to the game not the mechanics)

Broken as hell, strange tanking mechanics...not nice at the moment

It's about the same for me. I originally didn't like the death knight changes when I read them, but after playing around in Unholy, I have to admit I like the changes. I am also very happy with the state of Elemental shaman, having to watch for lava surge and fulmination stacks brings a new level of awareness and interest to elemental.

The disc priest changes are very interesting. My wife was healing the tank by smiting his target, since we outgeared the heroic, it was really all she needed to do. Aside from tossing out a heal here and there to the dps.

I like focus for hunters and love the pet changes (especially the expanded stable and new call pet mechanics), but I don't like that they are missing two key abilities.

Reforging is extremely interesting, and adds yet another level of gear customization. Now if we could get vanity slots, I'd be happy.

All-in-all, the game is different but slightly better. The tanking changes are rather abrupt, but a change in mentality can alleviate the problems that some tanks are faced with right now. I wish we would have had more viable options for talent trees, instead of the obvious cookie cutter specs. It's not like most people didn't spec the same anyway, but it's just far more obvious now.

Better.  The bugs need to be ironed out and it is extremely frustrating to see rogues 1 shotting almost everybody in the mid-level BG brackets, but overall, the changes are nice.  Balance is definitely still an issue, just like how it was right before TBC and right before Wotlk - but it's being worked on and eventually the right fit will happen.  Overall, things have been more polished, streamlined, and improved.  They just need to focus now on client stability and class balance and things will be kicking ass again.

Oh and tone boomkins down!  Everybody was crying about mages and yes, mages were godlike in pvp, but GEEZE, boomkin are just nuts atm and seemed to have snuck under everybody's radar.

So... aside from the issues people are having with learning new spec's, paying thousands in gold to regem, re-enchant, etc.... we have all of the glitches and major issues that came with 4.0.1.

PTR should've caught these... or more of them then it did.

I don't really like 'all' of the changes, but I don't hate them 'all' either.

The crashes, system hangs, bad performance in some areas... yeah, I could live without that stuff.

I voted 'better' on behalf of my son and his friends, took a poll of the 4 of them last week and they said from their viewpoint its made the game better as most of them didn't really play back in the vanilla WOW days so the differences are making it more fun for them.
