Netmarble... and how to fix it

TweFojuTweFoju Member UncommonPosts: 1,236

ok, so i finally got what people meant by the pain from the Netmarble plugins

it does crash my Firefox, yes, everytime i login, it says Netmarble plugin Vista stopped working, and my FF hangs..

my question is, is there the win7 ver?

and is it only me, or does the site too heavy to load? cause i have been refreshing for the past 15 minute and it's not even appearing, other sites works just fine

So What Now?

    problem fixed by myself

for win7 user, unfortunately, NetMarble doesn't support freakin win7

so no matter what you do, it will crash

so if you are using Firefox, just right click on the exe file, change the compatibility to Win XP SP3, then install the Netmarble plugin again

when it finished downloading the Netmarble, then change back to the normal compatibility ( or uncheck it )

good god Netmarble, where have you been, we are living in the win7 era.

I used the website, downloaded the game, installed, and played the game with no problems, and I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32b.

then i am not sure why

because i have seen many people having problem with Netmarble with win7

and it's true, once i set it to run with XP SP3, the Netmarble started the download

before, it just keep on crashing, and i dont have any other 3rd party addon / plugins on my Firefox, clean as default

so it cant be my Firefox

    So What Now?

I have issues with Chrome/Win7 and the "compatability mode fix"   doesn't work for me.

Basically if you have continuing issues, none of the fixes work for you and can't stop the browser crashes, you seem to have three options:

    1. Play the game but avoid the website (you do not need it to download the client, create an account or play the game, Only to access forums and support, and frankly I have seen very few games where support was even worth the time, I can't say whether support in this game is worth the bother or not).

    2. Play the game but log out of the website so you can read game guide content & forums without the popup. (Game login is not related to website login) The plugin is only 'active' if you are logged in, guests don't get the issue.

    3. Play the game, read the forums and cancel instead of accepting the update, and you can still post, you'll just be annoyed by the constant popups needing to be cancelled every page.

Obviously there is a fourth option, not to play the game at all. I am not going to defend the netmarble plugin as I also think it is garbage, I just like the game itself  way too much to give it up when I can find workarounds that I can live with.

But I understand that for those who are not yet sold on the game, it may well seem more trouble than it is worth.  It's too late for me, I love this game o/ so I find ways around the netmarble stuff.

As for me, I gave up on Netmarble and deleted my account with them.

Shame about the game, just waiting to see if someone else will publish it.

thankfully i am patient enough to went through almost 1 hours ( after countless restarts of Firefox ) just to get the Plugin working, although it was merely just changing the compatibility mode which prolly only need 5 second to do, lol

anyway, im 80% on the client download right now, ill be able to finally try this game tommorow

well for those of you who use win7 and changing the compatibility mode doesn't fix the problem, i am so sorry i have no further idea on how to fix it

it's a shame really that NetMarble have to include this plugin which probably have already made lots of people cancel their intention to play this supposedly wonderful game

    A. if you went to the forums, you would have seen a link directly for the download stickied at the top.  No plugin required.  I found this after 10 minutes of firefox issues on my windows 7 as well.

    B. Beta's always run into issues.  Lazy people with very little interest always find an excuse to stop.

    hmm what is the difference?

i just finished downloading it after 7 hours yesterday, i wouldn't want to wait another 7 hours if it's just the same Client

--- after seeing the link you gave ---

it's all still the same, they didn't update the Client, they only add a new download Mirror which is AusGamers

    So What Now?

did you uninstall both the game and plugin prior to re-installing the game what errors are you getting now?

Personally I don't like having malware that crashes my browsers forced on me in order to participate on the official game forums so I didn't bother reinstalling the closed beta client and will just play Pirates of the Burning Sea once it goes free to play. I can at least post on thier forums ;)

Er I didnt get any plugins.  I downloaded the game and was offered a MSN like chat system which was optional and I refused it.  I'm running Win 7 and using Firefox without any problems.

The only thing I did which I do with all progs is run them as admin.

Aside from the game not working for win7 users properly, Netmarble has bigger concerns.  Multiboxing is destroying the community/markets/fame.  The game is being flood with Asian's aswell, the asians destroyed their own servers, there on these new ones destroying them awsell.  I'd pay to play this game, but f2p, it's getting destroyed.

Er I'm running it on Win 7 and have had no issues from download, installation to actually playing.  The only thing I'm finding is that the game is doing nothing to hold my interest and to be perfectly honest is shed boring.

I have been running the game on Windows 7 just fine until I upgraded to AVG 2011 anti-virus this morning. After starting UWO at the checking version screen Windows 7 would lock up and I had to hard boot my PC just to get back into Windows. After some tweaking I found that the AVG anti-virus resident shield was the source of the crash.

Fix: Go into AVG - Tools Menu - Advanced settings - Resident Shield - Excluded Items - Add Path C:/NetmarbleGlobal/

After this works like a charm for me again.
