Need some suggestions on which server to pick, I live on the east coast btw :]

There are 4 US server of them Badlands by about a factor of 3 has the largest server population. Most would say it is overpopulated. This leads to lagginess on the weekends and some very occasional stability problems. I wouldn't say it is bad, it is fine but not ideal. But if you absolutely must be on the most populated server then Badlands is the one.
The other 3 server all have fine populations. I am on Volkmar and I have never failed to find a warband to run around with in T2 during the week. That is important because T2 and T3 (basically lvls 12-31) tend to be the slowest. T1 is always busy because those who are trying the game out on the endless trial are limited to T1. (in empire vs chaos) Of course at the other end T4 is the end game region so obviously those who play have played to end game are at the lvl cap of 40 stay in this tier.
My point with this is that in the thinest level ranges the RvR is still very good and lots of fun so don't avoid the three less populated servers for fear of getting stuck in a ghost town. All three have nicely active populations.
I would also point out that right now the other 3 all have a lvling bonus. So there is really no reason to go to badlands unless you have friends there.

Like Viking said. Badlands is the most populated server. But all i hear are stories of crashes and lag.
I'd suggest another server, you wont be dissapointed with those servers. I find wbs in all teirs during prime time American and Australian. I'm on Gorfang and Ive never had a problem with server population over the past year.

Expect to see (or join if you enjoy mindless repetitive no challenge gameplay) huge zergs hopping from realm to realm farming defenseless keeps.
I don't know all the latest patch details but supposedly it will give open rvr some loving so maybe, MAYBE there will be less realm hopping keep farming zergs but I doubt it because its easy xp / rp and their are some who don't care, no there are alot that don't care.
