PvE is various and plenty. The AI is currently basic meaning they'll eaither hit, run then attack or run away. They're waiting for an update from Epic China to add in advanced AI.
As for the gankfest, i've not been ganked yet. The flagging system combined with stat loss for gankers who die results in them being fewer and more careful who they choose. Being with friends is always best for most activites.
Those are the ones I found quickly. It should give you a balanced view of what current players think about the game (particularly PvE). Look around though.. I am sure I missed others pro/con that will give you a more rounded view of the game.

Do you suggest my opinion is not honest ? I stated what's in the game.

OP: You might also want to check out this post. The poster was a longtime Mortal advocate but has recently moved onto Darkfall. He compares his experience in Mortal with his first 2 weeks in Darkfall. He specifically addresses PvE.
There is no interesting PvE to keep casuals interested. At the moment PvE is just a grind for the mats for crafting, and one lonely instance.. which is a source for mats aswell. No rare mobs, no unique encounters, no epic creatures.

The AI is lackluster so yes I'll admit the PvE isn't that interesting. We have two rare mobs, a special horse, the nitre spider queen. Epic creatures i'd assume they're waiting for the advanced AI from Epic.
I'll let you know as I now am the latest casual carebear recruit. Where is the free sandwhich and a t-shirt? Last night I figured out how to beat on a tree and sell the material for 387c.....my empire begins.
As for the idea that it feels like the old days: I see something taking shape here that I like. Albeit this is one rough gem. Video and general client opimizations are needed but I see no reason not to think they will come. Also I guess the UI is getting redone? Hopefully yes.
However, what I see is more of a virtual world feeling then I've felt for some time. Darkfall started to have it but its just a pvp game.....I think a good mmo is not just a big blue shirt vs red shirt game.
don't play this game if you want a polished AAA .....its not that yet . What it is is fresh and something I think I can get in on the ground floor at and watch grow with the understanding that it will take time.
Thanks for the update. Be sure to check back with us at the end of your month and let us know what you think about your original questions now that you are playing for youself!

I'm glad to hear you're also enjoying the game, so I'll give you a few hints!
Hit trees and rocks to get your stats up a bit - fight basic mobs for the silver to replace the pick axes.
Ask around for where sprinkboks are when you get a basic weapon + armour and farm those (Leave the bone tissue behind its worthless)

Welcome to the game.
At the start, even simple stuff like killing rabbits for their fur, and weasels for fur and emalj, will get you enough money to keep your training going (and keep you in starter swords and pickaxes). Pigs are a little better for money, but Springboks and Wisents are much better animals to farm for cash.
I believe Whitewood sells for 1 cp per piece, while Brownwood will sell for 2 cp per piece (going from memory here, could be wrong). Either is good for a steady supply of money.
I've made a nice bit of money on my mage in the horse trade. If you've got a tamer, people always seem to need horses....
What kind of build are you thinking of going with on your character? I've got a melee type, mage type (my newest), and slag hauler type at the moment.
Yes PVE in mortal online is great. There is a large variety of mobs to hunt each with there own strengths and weaknesses. Different equipment types require different materials that are dropped from different mobs making each mobs loot valuable in its own way.
Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp!
PvE is often listed as the major deficiency in the game. This last patch is supposed to allow them to start to get functioning AI in game but currently PvE is really just another form of gathering. You are killing mobs to get crafting materials or other materials to sell to a vendor.
It is something acknowledged by the developers and they have stated that they will be focusing on it in the future. We will see what improvements come.

This will get you enough money to start buying basic books, http://mortal.thamal.de/SkillPlanner.php will tell you what each skill does and leads to.
If you're looking for lots of trade I'd recommend Fabernum/Morin Khur/Meduli. If you're looking for roleplay Moh-ki is the biggest RP hub in-game.

Check the map out for where you are and how to get to other marked Cities. Feel free to ask any questions =D
