Admins too strict?

in Star Wars Galaxies
Is it just me or have the admins been on anyone else case over small swearing? Because it got me banned permanently. I just had a little outbreak in the Sennex Cave to one person. Turns out a few days later I go to log in and it says error.....I try all this stuff and nothing. I check my email and it says I was banned. And I JUST payed for a new month of it. Who here agrees they are too strict?

    depends on the admin, for how long did you got banned anyway?
    i've been reported 3 times i think but nothing has happened, 1 time i even had a chat with csr and he understood me because i was owned by some dot wpn guy and told him to f off (i was fs xp farming on an imp spawn) :)

    You could have been reported for "harassment" which has sever penaltys in most mmorpg:s. Swearing sometimes gets you a temp ban (from hours to a couple of days), not sure how SWG does for swearing.

    Also if you have done something "bad" in the past that is used against you (but it seems like you just started out so its probably a "harassment ban").

    Tough break , but sh*t happens ;)

    However , if you contact the SoE admins , you can put an appeal in , you never know , maybe get unbanned .

    If this was a first time offense you are usually only "banned" for a certain time period. The SOE admins can tell you how long (customer service ticket). I think its 3 days.

    You can appeal if you were banned without evidence.

    If this was NOT a first time offense but consistent behaviour you may be permabanned with little chance to get back into the game. I think there is also little chance to get any money back.

    The admins did their job if you indeed DID harass another player. So .. not too strict. If you were permabanned (with reason not being racial slurs or religious insults etc.) than yes, it would be harsh to get banned for some strong words.

    Depends on the so called "small" offense. Seems there is more to it than is being told. I actually found SWG to be very lax unless the offense warranted a ban.

     The folks at SOE think they are all that ( and WoW ,about  7 months ago. they were) and they will throw away your business at a drop of an F-word or even a little RP flaming and trolling in their forums /wink. Its a shame that its the only Star Wars MMOG out there , the competition would bring them around but then again WoW took alot of folks away and still its old west justice at SOE , everyday.

    Well I am banned for good. It was 5 offenses. 2 times for bad names, 1 for badlanguage to a CSR (not knowing he was watching me), and 2 for bad language to people. I was suspended 2 times for those total and now im gone for good.

    also, about the appeal. I don't think they would remember. Maybe one CSR I had a chat with about changing my name from Stalin to Pussycat (CSREthan). Other than that being a bit befor christmas of 2004 I think my time is up. I heard that you can initiate it back up with a new CD key but i'm not sure. If it is I may got get a new one with the expansion coming out soon.

    Half of the offenses were to my brother. Only the name change of stalin and the last one were my fault....I'm not the one naming my character deepthroat.......

     Man , SOE kissed off my business after 5 years of Sub fees. They are not the only ballgame around  - save for Star Wars fanchise - SOE EQ titles are gasping for air while being pounded by WoW.  Serves the self rightous bastards to get their comeuppence.

    Dude, don't be dissing SWG. I love that game still. I really enjoyed the crap....except Jedi grind.....But overall that game is beautiful. Don't be hating them. This is about the admins in the game....

     This IS about the admins of the game and they do not know what they are doing and in turn have tick off and P*ssed off a lot of players . If you are playing Star Wars on your PC - Say it isn't SOE.

    Technically your brother shouldn't be playing on your account... it says in the EULA that only one user may use an account. Even so, those offenses are still on our account, regardless of who commited them.

    Too bad I figured that out afterwards...It's not like anyone even reads those though.........Either way the admins really just buckle down on repeat offenders. The first charge is the hardest to get I think.

    People getting banned for using language in a game... wow, I think that's rediculous...

    I played SWG for over a year, I would rarely ever swear, never got in trouble. There were times when people would get in huge raging fits, but why does anybody care... It's a game that simulates a semi-real life in a galaxy far far away... people get pissed off, and if you don't want to hear them... /ignore or /block (i forget which is its ^_^) it's not that hard...

    Yes there is a language filter.

    But you agree to conditions every time you log in ... and racial slurs, foul language etc. are explicitly forbidden.

    They dont kick you if you do it once .. but you do get banned if you do it often. And thats ok in my book.
