Plants Vs. Zombies Quest In WoW: Cataclysm

It appears that there is to be a Plants vs. Zombies style-quest in Cataclysm.  I was on the fence about coming back to WoW, but after hearing this news, I'm going to give it a pass. While I love Plants vs. Zombies and did, at one time, love WoW. It strikes me as odd that the two would be put together. With each passing year and expansion, Blizzard has destroyed an epic story and with it a sense of immersion in a deep, fantasy world. Now, it has all become inside jokes and knee slaps. Holy Cow the Tauren paladin ftw!!

Sometimes I think Blizzard is intentionally "kiddifying" WoW because their new MMO will be geared more towards adults. Darker, deeper, more intelligent.

Or maybe that's just what I hope is the reason?

    Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN

They're really not all that clever or funny either. Witness  "Spanks the Monkey" reported to be in Stranglethorn on the Beta Servers. It's appropriate that "Tenacious D", featuring the untalented Jack Black, is their big concert at BlizzCon this year. Wonder if there's a reason why this wasn't announced before the tickets went on sale. Hmmm...

I don't see where the problem is in the slightest??

People play mini games via add on anyway and Blizzard have had an ongoing relationship with popcap now for a while, it sorta makes sense that they would do something like this.

Are you forced to play the minigame...NO
Can you happily go along with your game without having anything to do with it if you so choose....YES

It is a game, it is supposed to be entertaining and even though i am not a huge fan of the original game of plants vs zombies, really, what is the harm???

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.

Heh, he's giving the game a pass because they added a minigame.

For me, the problem is that it has gotten to the point where the silly-factor has run wild and overtaken the game world. Plants vs. Zombies is just the latest example (with Mr. T and the handgrenade being the worst). While some of these additions are fun and help make the game more popular, they also steadily destroy the fantastic elements of WoW.

Step by step, the story is placed on the back-burner and a grab bag of pop culture and mini games laid out within easy reach. Slowly, I no longer feel like an epic hero, but a consumer in a shopping mall.

If I want to play Plants vs. Zombies, why would I  play  thru WoW?  I already have the game and enjoyed it very much. If I want to experience a rich, fantasy world, where am I to go? If I want to experience once again the wonder and adventure, the sense of dread, that I had when I first traveled through Westfall and the Barrens, where am I to go?

Can't go back to WoW, cause Blizzard has watered down the magic.

    My sentiments exactly.

Blizzard has taken a half-way decent fantasy setting and story, and over the years has refined it into a putrid sludge of pop culture memes, immature humor, and other such nonsense normally only seen in the depths of YouTube and 4chan.

The more I hear about Cataclysm, the more I am reminded why I left WoW.

It's not the game taking place in an epic world that it used to be, it's nothing more than an amusement park for the easily amused and quick to lose interest. Granted, it's been like that way for a while, but Cataclysm is just the "official" regurgitation of that fact.

But by the same token, Blizzard is accused time and time again of not doing anything to spice up the usual go fetch or go kill quests and now they do they are accused of watering down the game, can't win either way??

Personally i have become more interested in the lore as each expansion came along and i think they packed so much into Lich King it was amazing. Almost every quest chain came with a healthy chunk of lore along with it or a storyline to follow which was backed up with the new phasing as well. Blizzard can and do have a lot of things they are blasted for, but i think watering down the storyline or lore is not one that i personally feel can be upheld.

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
