forgers being able to work with lyra to implementing new content in the dream?

JMandrakeJMandrake Member Posts: 139

I know this is a far fetch thing,

But selecint the forger class you would need some cool perks.

One being if you are a strong enough forger you could perhaps work with lyra and give them some material to add content to the dream, even if its a tree at one position, at least the forger will know he put it there.

And maybe on that tree he implemented in the dream he could leave a small message where if other dreamers woudl walk upon it they could see the message and see for thesemvles the froger's work and message.

What you think?

If not making a permanent fixture like a tree or something, at least being able to create things like primes that can't actually leave the game (when you wake, they stay), but can be moved from place to place.

    that sounds good selika,

Heres something else for the forgers to follow up my idea.

Forgers can't be selfless if they want to input permanent fixtures, it has to be for the dream and the writting or anything else must be part of the on-going story of the dream.

Lyra actually said they want dynamic content in game that the players cand edit.

I had posts out there but I lost them, I had written out systems for doing various things.

    • A system to make a library where you could access topics and add to them in a system similar to a moderated board rather then a pile of codecies.  Gave the option for smiths to make libraries for scratch at a per plane limit.  Their guild needed to control the plane in order for them to do this.
    • A system for making monuments, a monument would have a brief message commmemorating whatever happened at the spot.  Only a smith of a guild who controls the plane in question can erect such structures or destroy them and ruler consent is required.
    • A system to rename rooms.  It did take a week for it to fully take affect if another faction didn't like the rename they could always try to snag the plane and stop it.
    • Graffitti, possibly a low level smith art that anyone can learn, and another art that erases it.
    • A system for creating various sculptures and art and displaying it in various rooms, artist needs consent from whoever controls the plane in order to do this.

This does create a few interesting uses of controlling a plane, none of which are really helpful in combat.  ;)

Jmandrake actually posted to one of them too, saying he thought he posted that idea earlier, the irony.

The problem with placing permanent objects is over time the city will get overpopulated with tree's and monuments.

Unless there was an additional art to deconstruct these items.  And now these two arts become very usefull in warfare (combat engineer anyone).

Just think.  Guild A takes a plane.  They immediatly strip it and set up battlements, they know retaliation is comming, and soon.  Guild B storms in The Fatesenders giving coverfire to the Dreamsmiths, as they work to bring down the battlements.  While the soulmasters try to keep both teams, and themselves, alive.

Some items, like the battlements, should have Absorption and duribility (that scales with the builders abilty).  So that they can be destroyed by brute force.  They should also have a time limit, in RL days, before dissapating.  Only so the city doesen't end up looking like Beruit.  Other items, like trees and monuments would be permanent, unless specifically destroyed by the "Destroy landmark" art.

Lyra could also have tree's be dynamically spawning so that after a battle the field would recover and the trees would regrow, but only if the dreamers didn't put in tree's or whatever other appropriate landscape (a limit on the number of perm items, with a minimum, if not reached spawns a perm item every once in a while).

Also all of these art should be restrited in where they can be used, IE: not in thresh not inside a house not in libraries or sanct etc...

The idea of Selika's for perm movable items (like primes) is a no brainer that absolutly has to happen.

If you read the listed topics I did bring up arts that destroy the items in question.  In fact, one of my monument examples had DoL errecting a monument on the sight where they trashed HC.  HC takes over the plane and the FIRST thing they do is erradicate that damn monument.

Libraries would have to be VERY limited of course, and since nobody can control the threshold it remains clear.  I would allow a house to keep a library though.   They would be limited to something like one per plane because every library is like creating a new board on a forum server.  If you create a load of boards, you bog down the server real fast.  Instaed the server has a pre-existing board for every plane in the game, when someone creates a new library, it whipes the slate clean for that plane and makes the creator the moderator.  Of course all libraries have a limit for data, which can be increased by a smith with a higher level art so long as the librarian permits it.

If you check the post there's even a system there for sharing information between libraries.  The library of souls is the ONLY place that has permenant and MULTIPLE libraries, a mess of them in fact.  It breaks the rules because it's special.  And lyrans start out with being in charge of it, but the idea is to quickly hand it off to a set of librarians who'd be the maintainers of knowledge in the neutral sect of the city.

I like the idea of being able to take down monuments, and maybe
not just with an art from one player, but say you have to have at
least 5 players use the art together. HC takes over DoL and wants
to remove a statue in the entrance. HC has to have 5 members
(guards and rulers maybe) use said art on the statue before it can
    be removed.
Monuments to be built in the first place should be limited though.
And maybe you can make permanent ones if you involve so many
    players, arts, creativity, what not.
