Good to hear more about this profession. The Necromancer is definitely the most odd-ball of the 4 professions released so far. If you look at the first 5 skills they have the least but compensate with minions and death shroud abilities and should be very useful at Support. Agree seems a good profession to get your kicks annoying people with "fear" (though this mechanic might be tweeked in pvp to be marginally less annoying still) and expendable minions and Death Shroud "coup de grace".
Out of all the professions most unsure how the necro will work, but stands out the most.
I will play a necro in GW2 as I was a huge necro fan in GW1. No other game had a real necro, aka mass minions and stuff. The MMOs I've played have some sort of a necromancer who is called a necromancer but doesn't deserve the tag. Why? Because they can't control an army of undead minions. They usually get one pet rofl
Have you played Age of Conan? I suspect you're playing it now. I don't know of any games that have "armies of undead" other then that one. Heck, many don't even have a Necromancer class.
Of the 4 so far that is shown on their website.. Ranger, Necro and Elementalist look awesome.. Looks like I'll be an ALTaholic again in this game.. but I"ll probably chose Ranger as my main..
Played a necro/ranger in GW1 and will do necro in GW2. I loved her mechanics and her minions.
Dumb question for all! Can you dual class in GW2?
Nope. Skills though, will interact with other skills and even basic attacks instead. For instance, in the ranger videos, you can see them lay down their fire trap, then start firing off some multi-shot ability. Shots that didn't cross over the exposed fire-trap were normal. But those that did? They caught fire and would then have added damage.
It is a slight shame that I won't be able to recreate my Warrior/Necromancer in GW2, but I can get over it. Mot likely I'll be interested in going Warrior, unless they make an even cooler soldier class.
Well i have played GW1 till it fell apart still play always goes back to Ranger for me. I alrdy have prebought GW 2, just waiting to see if there is a getting into beta with it, but no matter if not waiting for release but now will have to go back and run a necro again in gw1, see if i like idea enough to change my ways. Most likely will stick with my Ranger though, thats just me though...
I always enjoy playing tank classes. I plan to play a Necro in GW2, but I think I'm probably going to be playing it a little differently from most people.
First of all, I don't plan on using any pets. I may consider a Bone Fiend, but only then to just convert it immediately to turret mode for the rooting power.
I will try to make the Necro as close-combat-oriented as possible, putting lots of points into stamina, using an axe (with the Leech trait, which causes all axe attacks to steal health) and a warhorn (for Locust Swarm, which also steals health at close range).
One of the Necro abilities is Plague Signet. While not in cooldown, it automatically transfers all conditions (conditions are what they call debuffs) from your teammates to yourself. When activated, it transfers all of your conditions to your target. Sounds like a tank ability to me.
It might work. It might not, but I'm going to try my best to turn my Necromancer into a tank.

My main in Guild Wars is a necro so it will probably be my main in Guild Wars 2 as well.

Why is this news? Why would anyone care what Bill Murpgy will be playing in GW2.

Never got big into the Necro, but it had some amazing skills.
Ele or mesmer was my class.
It's a column, friend. Columns are by their very nature opinion pieces that deal with different areas of interest. GW2 is one such area of interest.
Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

Human nuker, I loved how Divinity's Reach looked in the demo.
I might have spend more time with my warrior than with my nuker (fire ele) in the original game, the nuker has been my favourite since I made it.
Sorry...It just seems odd that this will be up in the news section ...this is why some guy is playing some class in an mmo.

What I want to know is what happened to that poor girl in the picture? Must have had a close shave with a mob or something.
Way too early to make class decisions but I have never been a fan of pet classes. I am sure there will be something more melee to fit the bill for me.
Exactly.
