This week marks the beginning of the annual Blizzcon in Anaheim, California. This year's convention promises to be very exciting with Blizzard celebrating Starcraft II's release, the imminent release of the World of Warcraft Cataclysm expansion, the as yet unnamed MMO and more information coming about Diablo III. MMORPG.com Industry Relations Manager, Garrett Fuller, has some thoughts to share with readers as he prepares to check out the 2010 Blizzcon.
The first announcement, for me at least will be the fifth and final class in Diablo 3. For the last two years Blizzard has shown one class a BlizzCon, to be honest this is getting a little old. However, the fifth class should be announced this week. The consensus seems to be pointing to some kind of archer/ ranged class and I have to agree it is the one element missing form the classic Diablo 3 archtypes of fantasy classes. The Barbarian is the melee, the Witch Doctor is the Pet Class, the Wizard is our spell caster, and the Monk is our speed, DPS style class, so what does that leave? Well some form of Ranged class is obvious. Yet, you never know, Blizzard could surprise us here with something. Though I doubt it, it seems the Diablo 3 class designs are pretty cookie cutter for classic play styles. So I expect a ranged class, yet I hope for some type of surprise from the Diablo team.

Honestly? I just want to know what is in the goodie bag. Last year's bag was....meh, but the year before was quite nice in my opinion.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
Only thing I'm interested is about Diablo 3. A release date or even beta information would be nice. There seems to have been a huge gap between information about this game.
all i want is a new mmorpg from them, but that wont be happening for a lllllloooooooooonnnngggggg time.
Yeah, I'd like a new mmorpg from them too. I 'm bored of WOW, I've tried lots of new stuff, but it's just too much arse to bother with it all. Now Blizz has made some mistakes in WOW, and their constant farting about and meddeling is getting on my tits, but I do trust them to bring something out long lasting and worth playing.
it`s just gonna be wow2, eventually it will need a overhaul and a fresh start and i bet they were thinking ahead and started that project already.
I couldn't care less to be honest.
The older (and fatter and richer) Blizzard becomes the worse their games seem to be. There is absolutely no (financial) reason for them to do anything but follow the same formula over and over BUT one has to wonder how much more of the same that Blizzard fans can take. I loved Diablo. Diablo II was mostly fun. The expansion to Diablo II was ho hum. I will read reviews for Diablo III when (and if) I realise it has come out. If the reviews are fantastic I'll look out for a cheap copy around 2014 or so.
If it isn't broken, don't fix it?
If you are referring to the mechanics of game play, maybe, but to early to tell. If you are referring to the Warcraft series it wont be. When Blizzard first announced they were making an MMO they stated it is unrelated to any of there games and will be a new IP.
It will be interesting to see what information, if any, comes out about the next Blizzard MMO. Im also curious if when it does launch there will be a pass system such as sony has.
WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.
Diablo III is a game I look forward to. I'm not so excited about the classes however. As we all know, they re-use the same material like class names across all the Blizzard games. I played Diablo 1 & 2, and was highly addicted to both. They both are great games, ones that left me feeling like I had the soulstone embedded in my own head!
