This game has more people that don't play it who discuss it than any game I have ever seen. It's amazing how often you find out that someone defending this game has "stopped playing", or is "waiting for bugs to bugs to be fixed" or "waiting for them to release content". To me that just screams that people really WANTED the concept to succeed... but are just not happy with it's implementation. Some have given up totally.... others are hoping that SV can turn it around, but are not willing to pay for it anymore.
Anyhow... back to the original topic.. there just haven't been any good sandbox games released recently. I'm hoping that Bethesda will get the job done with their rumored Elder Scrolls MMO. AAA company, AAA resources, AAA setting, AAA gameplay.... It's all there for them to make it work, but I have learned not to get too hopeful until a company delivers.

If anyone can restart the sandbox market Bethesda can, they're the last AAA company I have faith in.
Edit: And maybe vigil with their warhammer 40k MMO but I got scared when they were saying it's very friendly to WoW players I hope they keep it really dark and gritty.

well i heard its gunna be a wow type mmo which has heavy instances.
so i doubt it be sandboxy or have full loot pvp so im not intreasted, i want a game that that is more immersive then your regular wow, like owning a house, growing a farm, not doing quests, being a merchant, land quest.
btw i wrote this thread so that people keep personal experinces out and compare game facts with each other and show which area is better in which.
but its true there is not much on the market and its a shame really, because the sandbox concept is great but due to its diverse concept its hard to balance towards everyones needs from what i see and either over delevop in one spot 2 much that the game concept is different from what they pictured when they decided to design the game.
to be honest mortal online has promise, and thats why people want the game to succeed because there is no OTHER game that can achieve what people want.
darkfall didnt follow the sandbox concept. mortal online has hurdles to overcome and dawntide is 2 early to say anything and xyson has many hurdles to overcome and won't be anywhere near ready in the future but mortal online is the only one that has the good pvp system and this is why so many have hopes, or dire wishes for the game to achieve the sandbox concept.
also this thread is to compare facts of each game concept and not to bring in personal opinion and experines of the game but look at each feature and compare them and explain why each feature in what game does what better and why so that people can find out what feature the game offers and how it works and differs from other games.
my last post was explaining why mortal online surpasses darkfall online in the sandbox uo race concept.
the funny thing is i wrote up some MAJOR long post to have the internet fail on me so i keep this one short.
its not a arguement but merely a discussion on what game does what feature better that mortal online currently has to offer.

"better" is going to be very subject to personal opinion and experiences. Facts would be.. Game X has this feature and Game Y doesn't. Comparing which is better is ALWAYS going to be a matter of opinion unless you simply judge on functionality... as in the feature doesn't work because it is bugged (and list the bug).
This is particularly true with Mortal because much of the conversation inevitably truns to what the game might become at some point in the future based on promised features and fixes. If you want a factual discussion it HAS to be limited to the game as it exists TODAY... not in beta.. not in 6 months because it "has promise".

well said as you can see from my first post, i compared the features that the games currently have and then compared the games development and even stated in the post to compare what is already existing and not what to come unless its just to compare the games development but it has to be a paragraph on development in a whole and not just used to back up a claim or feauture for example.
and as you can see from my last post i was trying to make people aware who post in here what this thread was for and as you can see you seem to have a understanding of what type of discussion im trying to have but as you can see some people instead talk about personal experinces and just say this game is better blah blah without saying why and listing becasue this bug currrently etc or this feature is more smooth as it works more with this feature as seen in etc etc.
so i agree with you completely on what your saying as its what im also trying to express and achieve at the same time.

My big hopes for sandbox are with Bethesda or the 38 Studios MMO (This is where most of my hopes are). Todd Mcfarlane, R.A. Salvatore and Ken Rolston (Lead designer of Oblivion) is enough to get my hopes up a bit. Even if it turns out not to be a sandbox I'm still going to look into it and check it out because of those 3 alone.
There's not a better game like this out there, or I'd be playing it.
Darkfall has no skill caps, is extremely imbalanced comparing veterans to newer players, has a shitty alignment system, and the developers of the game have gone back on every promise they made about DF during its development. It has been an extreme Korean-style grindfest in order to overpower your opponents with your time spent in game rather than real skill.
MO has much better design, but lots of bugs and an even lower population than DF. The fact that the design is so good, and their future plans are very promising, is what makes it the best game in its genre on the market. It doesn't have much content, there are lots of bugs with every patch, and the server isn't as stable as it should be. The alignment system, skill system, crafting system, and asset destruction system are all far superior to Darkfall. The graphics are better too, and their vision for the game destroys Darkfall. The final great thing about MO is that the grind is minimal. You can max out 3 characters in MO, and in that same amount of time, you could get a character in Darkfall maybe 15% done.

MO wins, even now, and definitely in the future.
