To make it clear, with having faith in, we talk about DF becomes more population and i dont know the amount of playerbase they have in mind thos who needs faith .

As for me there is no faith needed, DF is the real thing and it will get improved like it got with every patch and expansion, no much faith needed for this, doomsayers and naysayers were given DF few months after laucnh and now we got 3 expansion  and soon we celebrate its 2 years !

AV is healthy , DF their game is already fantastic and i dont care if more or less will play it, there is no faith involved its reality.

Well if you have faith that Tasos speaks the truth then you are either misinformed or worse in my opinion considering his track record, but don't let that stop you, after all ignorance is bliss.

Going by Aventurines history  I would say that they will be as ambiguous and misleading about the actual features and details of this relaunch for as long as possible, so they can string along what they have left of a community and convince the maximum amount of people to continue subscribing and resubscribing for this big event.

Then when it finally comes it will be mostly graphical improvements which are the most important thing this game needs and what the majority of its players put as the most high priority for the developers, not to mention the usual bug fixes and small ajustments that will be proclaimed as the best things ever that have totally changed the game for the better and people will make anecdotal posts about how much larger the population is now and how fast it is growing.

Then a few weeks later when mostly everyone has lost interest again  the forums will return to normal, full of the same complaints about how the game is fundamentally broken and unappealing to most people and all the suggestions on how this could be rectified that will be totally ignored and shouted down by the same few people now claiming DF2011 will totally fix the game and all its problems.

Interesting if they are officially calling it a relaunch because that is an official admission that the launch of the game was a failure, which it was.

Which would of been fine if they had admitted to their community that the launch was a pay to beta but Tasos said the exact opposite on this very site prior to launch, bad Tasos.

Only ways I can actually see them relaunching this game successfully is :

Get the game on Steam and run a promotional offer.

Get the game re-reviewed by mainstream gaming press. (yes even you Ed Zitron)

Get some targeted advertisements concentrating on the games strengths (Or using its terrible reputation as a selling point for example "you've heard how bad this game is, now try it for yourself")

Get healthy viable populations on the servers (catch 22)

And most importantly fundamentally change the core of the game so that its accessible to casual players and not only appealing to people that can play 6+ hours a day, so that new players and casual players can competitively experience the game and enjoy it from the start, not only after suffering threw 3 months of semi afk macroing and curb stomping.

Of course the whole thing could just be another ploy to get people to pay to transfer their characters to another new server again or get people to purchase the game again because its DF2010 now and totally different and the rights are owned by Tasos Co.

Problem is if they actually managed to achieve some or all of the above they would alienate what subscribers they currently have left without the guarantee that they will definitely attract more to replace them so they may just stick with what they appear to of been doing all along, making a game thats appealing to only a small fraction of an allready small niece market.

    I dont care...

The reason I dont care is because I like the game as it is. The latest expansion was a move in the backward direction but not  a game changer for me.

Its a basic rule I apply to all games, if I dont like it, i dont play. As it turns out I like DF so I play. otherwise I would not.

Pretty much sums up my own thoughts to the letter.

I play because the game is fun just the way it is, if it wasn't I wouldn't play. I do get a kick out of watching people repeat the same phrase over and over and about how the "barrier for entry" is too rough on new players, even though it really is not.

The reality of it is that most people who think it is are simply not interested in actually needing to develop there character, they think they should just be able to jump right in and start killing anyone in sight immediately. This is not the way DF works.

A new player who focuses his development on important skills right from day one can be competitive within three-four weeks, without afk macro'ing. Yes I said it, you are not imagining it, and it is entirely true. I really don't care whether anyone else believes it or not.

IT DOES NOT TAKE MONTHS OF AFK MACROING OR SWIMMING TO ACHIEVE THIS.

I've just finished proving this with a new character I rolled a few weeks back, so there is no excuse why anyone else cannot do the same, the bottom line is that most of the "grind" complainers are just not the types of players who want to have to make any actual effort to be able to compete in this type of mmo environment and cannot grasp the simple fact that if they focus on important combat related areas immediately they can significantly speed up early progression and become competitive alot sooner than this mythical three-four months people keep spewing off about.

As for DF2010, I have faith, but I will reserve judgment until I can see/experience what it brings to the table firsthand.

I played this game at release. I had a great time with it, our alliance had spent weeks on rubiat building a awesome city. And then within an hour it was all destroyed.  Majority of the alliance quit the game.  I dont know if that aspect of the game was fixed. But we sepnt weeks farming and it was destroyed in a 3am raid.  I ended up joining another guild and played a little longer. We had a hamlet right outside of the human capital. About every 30-45 min a group would run through and rape everyone in it. Again driving people to quit.  That did not upset me(but it made alot of people upset), just the only thing there was to do was fight and harvest, and they huge guilds had such a stronghold no small guilds could compete. I have alot of hope in the rerelease and probally will be playing again. I see they have added alot of things to this game to make it seem like there going in the correct direction.

At release you say , there was no substancial newbie - vet gap andt hat excuse  and your alliance lost a city and almost all rage quit ?  It was probably hard to see something needed effort to have been taken away from you but on the other hand you aliance member was just too soft for Darkfall (some pretty tough forumfallers that where pretending being hardcore during all the years probably lol - but not get offended just speculation from my sitre and indeed thos tough clans existed) .

About the 3 am sieges, the mechanic got changed so chickens can come back now lol.

I don't think losing a siege because it happens at 3am when almost everyone is asleep qualifies them as chickens. The mechanic WAS very broken at that time. Clans should not be responsible for protecting their cities all hours of the day... this is a game after all.

I started playing DF shortly after release, and continued to play for a few weeks afterwards. I remember thinking the game looked dated, and even felt dated, but I've just recently began a trial and I have to say I'm finding the game world to be rather breath takingly beautiful, that I'm having tons of fun with the character progression (exploring, wandering between cities, avoiding PK's), and that this is the only online world I've played in since UO that actually conveyed a since of danger. If DF2010 is just a model and graphical update, that's perfectly fine with me. While a skill cap would be nice, and I would agree this game takes time to achieve some form of adequacy on the battlefield, I'm enjoying the journey none the less.

That was the biggest problem. You cant expect to have people on 24/7 to guard your city. People have real lives and Jobs. I know jobs may be a bad word to some of you. But chickens no just realistic that they could not be on 24/7 and made them quit because the mechanic left you so vulnerable.

"chickens" was inappropiate on my part but having joined late on forumfall i can say there was some alliances droping like card houses  just being defeated once who was very prominent forumfallers. Its pixels after all and in a game like DF you will loose more often then you like, i  was just lol looking at their staying power.
