Starcraft II Offline Play

I only just bought this game thinking i could play it after i stop having an internet connection. Then i found out it may not be the case.

I read about some kind of offline approval and about how the game would stop working after not logging it on battle.net for a few weeks. Does anyone actually know about this and about how to play the game without an internet conenction?

There isn't a Starcraft II section that i am aware of so i posted it here instead. Seemed like the most relevant avaliable spot.

The General Gaming section would have been better, but that won't prevent someone from answering you. It just limits who would be more likely to answer.

  • I don't know if Starcraft II specifically does this, but I've played other games that 'check in' every few days/weeks and stop working if they can't. I'd imagine Starcraft II has a similar feature, or is even more strict considering how integrated Battle.net is with the whole game. I know you have to sign in before you start playing so it may not be possible to get into the game at all without a connection.

I currently have access to internet until november first. It's not really an issue until then. I am however concerned about after i have access to internet. There is a Canadian law here that prevents the return of computer software if the box is open so i'm pretty much stuck with it. 70$ with tax in Quebec. I'd like to get it to work offline for unlimited time with adequate and safe methods.

I've done some research and it seems the "offline play authorization" is the process of adding the game to battle.net and logging on, creating at least one character.

I've done that and i can access offline play. What i'm worried about is for how long?

Bah look at steam powered games, The new Fallout Vegas requires a Steam account to activate and play it. It will be the last game i buy with this feature,

It's a security feature I don't blame em for having cause of hackers. I genuinely hate steam cause it just sucks. I forgot my password one day and steam I got it emailed to me but guess what, it doesn't email me the password, friggin sick of steam. But yea OP dude, maybe if you have a decent phone with 3g, you can hook it up to your comp and use the net connection to log into SCII. I know I can log in offline but I dunno about the few weeks thing.

We're all Geniuses. Most of us just don't know it.

The 3rd generation moblie phone seems like a good idea except my phone just won't let me do it.

Actually, I was thinking about buying this game today, does it have a LAN play option?

I'm not going to be intrested in buying it at the current price if I need to buy multiple copies. All insights gratefully received.

I don't know the first thing about LAN parties. You might want to read up in their knowledge base i linked.
