Hello,
With the announcement that the game will continue to be free for 60 days after your start up date I have decided to take the plunge. I played beta, but wasn't too impressed, however I didn't give it a fair shot. I know what to expect this time around and the more I read and watch countless hours of youtube videos the more I want to play this intriguing yet extremely different MMO. I was wondering if there is anyone that actually enjoys this game and plans to stick with it who wants to be friends with me?

I know there is a group of players that posts here occationally and seem to be constantly recruiting, maybe they'll take you in? I'd offer myself, but my play times are so erratic I'd be an awful play partner.

They could give me a lifetime free sub and I will never log into the game. Seriously don't support a game company that charges for alpha-test level content, if you played beta and "wasn't too impressed", your probably going to regret buying the game
For the most part I'm all for the consumer sticking it to the man but if he already played it and still feels it's worth coming back, with 60 days free what is he losing? If you play console games you can get a new game for about the same price and you will get an equivalent amount of playtime out of it, no harm no foul.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
In their defense, FFXI was in the same condition when it was first released. I feel like this game has tons of potential. The reason I wasn't impressed was the numerous crashes my client had for some reason.
well it is good that you are trying it during the extended free play. You will at least be able to find out if the game is for you, and you will learn the word "temperament".
err didn't you have to have activated your account by oct 21 to get the extra 30days (on top of the standard 30)

This is assuming the playtime of said console game and this game have equal value. Most console games with 25 hours of gameplay or so have engaging stories, characters, and are packed full of value. It gets kind of annoying to hear some MMO gamers put time value as a static fun value. Like jumping out of a plane might cost you $200 for a few minutes of thrill and you might play 100 hours of an MMO in a month for $50 + free month and therefore cost/benefit analysis would say MMO gaming is way better and I'd have to disagree.
Point is, it's not necessarily "no harm, no foul" ... it could very easily be a waste of $50. Is $50 a lot of money? To some people it is...
If 50 bucks is a lot of money to you....you shouldn't be playing video games in the first place.

No worries, this is normal in this forum, even if youa sk something totally not related to the game quality like what we will have for lunch, tehre will be someone that states that the game is totally bad and we have an ongoing discussion about that topic.
BLah i cant belive i wasted 90 dollars on the collectors editions it hought this game was going to be good. Its horrible!!! Vanguard had a better launch and better game mechanics and combat and everything else. I played for 3 days and i shut it down. Im never going back tot his game no matter how much they fix it. GOOD BYE ffxiv community im going back to playing DARKFALL !!!!!

Don't do it. I just checked back to see if it was worth the extra 30 days. It is still horrible to play and none of the issues have been solved with a poor UI and a rubbish control system. I would go one but please save your money I wish I had never purchased the game myself.

So you are going back because they bribed you with a bit of money?
IMO when the PS3 version is ready for release,then we can assume Square knows what they are doing,then and only then ,it should release as a 30 day beta with NO automatic release date announced,until the game is officially accepted by most to being ready and up to standards expected for 2010.Example,say after 10 days of Beta,there is no complaints on mechanics or other mind boggling ideas,then they could announce an official release,the days of just releasing for the sake of making money form itchy fanbois,should be gone for good.

lol I love how this is 3 pages of people trying to talk him out of it and he is still playing it anyhow.
