Are there still a lot of people playing this game? I haven't played this game before but I wanna try it.

When I tried it out again it seemed like every was either in the really low level areas (<10) as that's where all the F2P stuff also is or they were in the high level areas (30+). So the middle of the game will be somewhat lonely for you.
Coming from someone that currently plays the game, the game is thriving like it hasnt been in years. Sure its playerbase isn't as populated as it was in the opening months, but it's slowly rising due to it actually being fixed with bugs and balances. The game is currently in tip top shape, and to add more fuel to the fire, there's a mini expansion coming soon near Christmas. If you like the populated servers, just create a character in Badlands or the other populated servers, that have RVR action constantly day round. And as for it slowing down in the middle, thats no longer a problem after the last few patches that make the middle levels ALOT more populated. If you think it's a good game, give it a try, the PVP IS intense, no other game does it like WARHAMMER ONLINE.
Yike.
Don't listen to him. The only thriving server is Badlands, the rest are at best 1/3rd of the population of Badlands. Iron rock for instance is still calling for mergers because apart from prime time there's just too many dead moments.
Yes, there's some optimism with the RvR pack coming in a few months. Finally something new and different for people to do.
From an actualy player that plays on one of these so called "1/3rd pop" servers, I have no problem finding rvr anytime on weekends and during the week during prime time. I play on Gorfang and apparently we are the 3rd lowest in population, but I wouldn't even know. I log on when i get home from work, and within 5 mins i have a group or in a wb in the orvr lakes fighting.
From my experience, and I've been subbed for over a year straight now, every month we get more and more people trying WAR. I can recount just from the other day 5 people asking newbie questions in T4, who have never been to t4 before. The population is rising slowly but surely.
Mmocount seems to thing you need a server bursting at the seams to be a thriving server. No offense but servers who are at max occupancy only lag and are terrible to play on. The rest of the servers are populated enough where you won't know the diffrence.

Apparently you have a problem with the term 'apart from prime time', which incidentally you just confirmed in the other thread by saying 'we have rvr all the time during American afternoons and evenings.'.
Go to badlands for a server with the allround experience. And like mentioned before, they fixed the performance quite well already in the last few weeks.
Don't take my word for it OP (nor that other guys), just stroll the server boards on the official forums.
Just recently got back in WO after 2 years and having no problems with crickets with any tier.
However I did roll on the Volkmar and Badlands servers which happens to be the more popular servers today.
I can't speak to other times of the day or servers, but on gorfang server during U.S. East coast evenings and weekends, there is always a fight going on somewhere. I like the server because in all tiers the power balance shifts every few days. Much more fun to finally lock a zone when its been locked against you all day.

Badland FTW! Dont listen to those other people. if you want a good first time experience then trust the people tellin you to go to badlands. Every other US server is pretty much dead. They may have some prime moments , but badlands is still kickin 230 in the morning.
BTW roll Destruction!
Yeah, seriously, save yourself future disappointment and roll a toon on Badlands. The other servers really are not a viable option at this point. I would expect to see merges in the near future.
