Looking for a Sandbox that...

I am looking for a sandbox game that is very open and political. I really enjoyed face of mankind until the open pvp kicked in and I could not go anywhere without being shot. I still want to have the ability to kill anyone, anywhere, anytime, however there would need to be a consequence. This could be you are wanted for murder or something. I have tried EVE and I do not like emptiness and aloneness I feel being in space and I dread the combat.

    Ultimate sandbox is....Ultima Online.

    I don't know what it's like anymore, but way back in the day, the game started with full PvP. Then they added some servers with consensual PvP. Back then they had both kind of servers. I think they still do, but I'm not 100%. The game is ancient.

    Also I like the idea of politics and conquering, but not if it is at random. I need some RP to back it up. Do any of the suggestions you all have given include that?

    Ultima Online and Darkfall are 2 different games. One does not unlock the other.

    There is 2 "facets". One is called Trammal. No PvP at all. The other is open PvP. Kill a person, and so many you turn Red (I think 5). Once red (murderer status), you can't go into towns and if you die, you lose a % of your skills.

     

    Takes you being online for a long ass time to drop 1 murder count.

     

    Note that the facets are within the same server. You take a portal to switch between the two.

    MO and EvE right now are insanely political. Darkfall didn't see it to much (it's there but didn't 'feel' it).

    I think your best bet would be to just try Darkfall, Ryzom, and UO, probably in that order.

    Mortal Online has what you're looking for but lacks content and polish

    Darkfall sort of has what your looking for, it's way more polished and has more content. However you have quake-like combat and a neverending grind to keep competitive too.

    well in terms of RP and politics, i would have to say Ryzom and UO

    but if you want to wait, in 2011, there will be Earthrise that offers all the points you wanted

    Area Conquering, Player Politics, ffapvp, and the best of all, no instances at all,  on top of that it's sci fi

    So What Now?
