I read combat revamp and was exicited. Then I read the details and was disspointed. The actual combat system is one of the weaknesses of this game, IMO. But it doesnt look like they are improving the look and feel of it, just the rolls of the dice.
Woohoo i hope it will add more tactic and less counterstrike stupid action.
I really loved FE.. I didn't really have a problem with the combat per say.. But i had more of a problem with meaningless pvp.. I was hopeing these flag's would fix that; but honestly they need to do a whole faction overhaul to fix that.. No point in pvping for you're faction if you plan on "rolling the wheel" or w/e and faction jumping...
Currently Playing:
Rift + Starcraft II + Gears Of War 3 Beta
I played in the origional beta and Im still watching for them to correct the core flaws that existed back then.
one of the big ones is they have all that great looking clothing but then they fracking use a stat clothing system and they sont have a costume clothing page so basicly all that great clothing is obsolete almost as soon as you come out of the pod
thats why alot of people look the same more or less,, unless they totally dissreguard the need for stat armor
you do all that work creating your charaftors face and hair but then they dont have any toggles to turn off gas mask an helmit???
and dont give me the PVP excuse players should realize people are stat armored or they can just disable the costume clothing in PVP zones
lord of the rings added costume clothing and it was one of the best moves that turbine did. lots of diversity i went from some tacky red and gold armor to something like indian scout brown leathers looked awesome!
in FE i might even go as far as costume weapons id love to look like I was weilding a couple of claw hammers taking down some mutant regardless of my real weapon
SHIELDS
real vehicle physics
real grenade projectile physics
flame weapons like a milinkov cocktail
factions should sounded unique but its only in description not in fact.. factions need to ACTUALLY be different vista should favor horses, animals, and bows/crossbows (vistas should be able to make advanced bos/crossbow, and nature poisons they SHOULD NOT TOLLERATE VEHICLES the theme should be equil but different
lastly the world needs to be much more fracked up many places in the game it looks like plain ol desert and sky with the occasional mutant spawn i would like to see more content and have geiger counters and radio signals we can track down or smoke or buzzards in the distance
and the TRAVEL distances were the real deal killer for me it takes FAR too long to do stratigic moveing I couldnt go help out a friend if he was very far away because it took far too long I like a little distance in the game but it cripples social game play for me.
I sugested a train that you do quests to gain access in different towns where there is a station and also security and upkeep and support quests my idea is that there would be one train for each zone and a linking station when you board the train you select where you want to get off so even if you get dissconected or afk you will end up at your destonation.
I knew long ago they would use some form of half assed pod porting these guys could have a great game if they wernt so dead set on things.
make a world, not a game, we dont want another game.
There was alot of flaws to the design of FE when I played and I have to say that Combat was absolutely not one of them.
I really enjoyed the game, but there were just so many things that just weren't right about it. I could have stuck it out, but I left because I saw all this potential and saw that the dev team was on the wrong track. They cared more about this fluffy thing over here than they did about this core mechanic that kept the game from being enjoyable to alot of players.
It's good to know the FE team is still on the wrong track and is assigning their limited resources to fixing something that really didn't need to be fixed, instead of fixing the broken mechanics that plagued the game.
They should start by figuring out what PVE is for, or idk maybe figuring out what PVP is for, or hell, they could develop some tools to play in the sandbox with. Think about it, when you were a kid how much fun do you think you would have had in the sandbox with just your hands? No shovels, toy trucks, etc. etc. etc? There is a slew of other basic core mechanics that were just completely broken.

You's think people would learn from others mistakes. Star Wars Galaxies did the very same thing years ago. Which they still haven't recovered from the fallout.
When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there!
Even the crickets are silent on this thread.
I wonder if that's any indication of how well the population is doing? I saw it on a featured display at Best Buy the other day, with a collector's edition or something. I figured there would be more.

Where can ya read the details? All I got was the snippet from the OP, and a link to a forum closed to non-players.
The combat animations were one of the biggest turnoffs for me, and I was curious to see what the revamp did to resolve that.
Fact is that the combat was a dead miss from what was advertised, like so much of the game in general.
The Mutations were entirely unneeded and grossly skewed the game style into completely negating the tech/wasteland feel of the game and the primary combat resolution mechanic (namely, the FPS style interface).
Couple that with the complete failure to make Factions the meaningful driving force of the game to promote teamwork, interplay, trade and conflict (something they have yet to intelligently solve even now more than a year later, grossly unacceptable to me) and you have Fallen Earth one of the worst cases of 'could've been great' I've had the displeasure to support with my consumer dollar.
You make some good points but I cant help but wonder who will read it that really matters here on this web stie? Hopefully you posted this on the official forums for the game so that maybe the Devs might see it. I doubt they will here at this venue.

From what little I played, the Combat System was one of the best things about the game. Is it bad because its not auto attack?
When I played FE I felt the combat awkward. It tried to have an fps combined with an rpg style but it just felt really clunky. It should have been just one or the other.
Here is not the place to go into details on how to fix a game. No one here cares ... and unfortunately no on the FE team cares (anymore) IMO.
FE is becoming one of those "greatest games that never was". It had (has) so much potential, but Dev's aren't flexible enough to see the obstacles in the way of growing their subscriber base, and don't have the long term vision provide solid "end of game" play while they still have sectors they want to add to the game.
In a nutshell, the core of the game is that feeling of being on your own and being isolated ... but that doesn't encourage group, team or raid play that so many are looking for. And there is no end-game play really ... but you can hear the Dev's screaming in the background, "Because we're not done with the game!!!"
If we have to wait for sector 8 before we see group play, and end-game purpose ... I just don't seen anything getting better with FE, and I'll be moving on to the next MMO offering (I'm a 6 mo player who gave FE a shot because STO stunk so badly).
