I confess I am just fed up with this.... kids have ruined most games I have enjoyed.. I beta tested wow and look at it now..tit fed cranky kids doing the pwn and zerg of everything... you cannot get in a guild that is absent of these leeches, you cannot join a group without an asshat who cannot play and demands all kinds of consideration and NEEDS everything.

The next game I join I would pay a small fortune to have some way of banning these awful, disrespectful, greedy and unskilled players who ruin all  & are catalyst for the dumbing down of what used to be fun about MMO's.

Bring the orignal and HARD eq1 back..... when games are diffcult and create a  skill for a player to learn these 7th graders will  steer clear of it. I would pay money..and good money to get a game that inhibits these nasty unimaginative fools from taking over games that could be better...but succumb to the needs of the avg 12 year old.   I am totally done with mmo's until one gets made for the adult and skilled player.   Can anyone see my point of view?

A game's community can certainly make or break the game for me as well.  It's part of the reason I've been bouncing from MMO to MMO is that I've not found a home I felt comfortable in.  Really it seems like the WoW phenomenon destroyed our MMO culture and debased to kiddie porn chat rooms.  I miss the days of EQ where disrespecting the community usually meant your toon was screwed from ever trying to accomplish anything in the game.

I guess you haven't actually played wow on any larger scale then. At least in my experience, your reputation is important. Most of all if your in a guild, but you can make a name for yourself on the realm too. There are many examples of "famous" raiders and PvPers. But wow has such a vastly larger community than the pre-wow MMOs had which makes it harder.

Anyway, people seem to think wow is just a bunch of kids playing when in fact nothing could be further from the truth. Wow has players of all ages and it's certainly not geared towards kids. It caters to everyone, which is exactly what they want.

I've always found the community in vanguard to be mature and helpful.

Regards WoW, it has to be accepted that trade chat in general (and to a lesser degree the Dungeon Finder tool) is filled with douchebag kids, who's parents spoil them / don't supervise them. Added to this is the 20-25 old bunch that thinks they rule the universe due to the fact they have done the latest raid and have top notch gear, which in their mind gives them the right to brand everyone that is not on the same content/gear level as them "noob" or "gay".

Just take a moment to look at the real world outside your door...These people and their personality types exist there also. And theres more of them than in WoW...so whats the difference?

Realistically there is none, because you don't hang out with people you don't like in the real world and you can do the same in WoW.

However, the rule for a good community in WoW comes not from the server, but from the guild you're in. Let me explain...In a raiding guild, your relationships are as good as your raiding ability and gear score, unless there is a social acceptance element within such a guild. However, ability to clear content does not equal good community xD....

Social guilds for the most part (ones that have some supervision as to what goes on within them ie some rules) , tend to have strong communities that keep most of the people involved in what makes the community good, staying around for a long time (unlike a raid guild, where when progress stops people move on).

With all this said, I think it's clear that if you want to enjoy a good community in an MMO, you have to look no further than finding a guild that fits your expectations, and ignore all the calamity outside it, caused by douchebags, kids, elitists, and idiots.

Regards the hardness (or lack thereoff) of WoW, it's relative... let me explain... Blizzard, rightly so want as many people to see what they have created. In doing so they have made the game so easy, that if you really want to clear it you can because (a) anyone can learn to rinse and repeat a boss tactic and (b) you have access to the gear that allows you to kill that end content.... This is not a bad thing... it allows you to see the end game if you so wish...So how is all this relative??  Well, if you want a challenge, don't accept all the help Blizzard give you...raid only gear you've gained in the raids you do,  ignoring overpowered "Wellfare Gear" from badges, and earn your tier items in the raids, not from badges. When you do things this way, there is still a challenge. But lets face it.... no one does, because everyone likes easy shit ^^.

MMO's PvE content is not a challenge...imo if you want challenge, MMO's need to be PvP based encounters, with an epic PVE boss elements thrown in, that is driven by how well the players on both sides play. Where the sense of achievement comes from the achievement it's self, rather than the gear gained.... It's a dream, and will probably never happen though :P..

Its a great Idea for a game to have adult servers. Im not against young'ns playing online games and such,as i was young once too and ejnoyed games. But these days it is getting out of hand..aspecially the F2P games.

What this guy said!!!!!! It's very annoying to hear people blaming KIDS for childish behavior. I've been playing mmo's since I was twelve and over the years I've seen more (high minded, trash talking, cocky, know it all, perverted, trolling, ranting, angry etc...) ADULTS than I’ve ever seen kids. When I was younger I spent 80% of my time in guilds that were 21+ up because I understand how to be respectful to someone who is older than me. That being the case I was never found annoying and I was considered a mature player. While being in those guilds I saw tons of mic yelling and immature chat trolling from people who were over 21 and a lot less from people under 18. Often times when I would find another kid to play with they would be very laid back and relaxed. I'm not saying that kids aren't sometimes annoying. I'm just agreeing with the post above (no matter how horrible the spelling is).  Unless you know that the person is actually a 13 year old dont holler "13 YEAR OLD RETARD". From my experience theres a chance it’s a 35 year old divorcee taking out his anger online.

I cannot speak of the quality of the gameplay for anyone else, but possibly THE best community in all MMO land is Landroval in the World of LOTRO. I belong to it And I can vouch for the amazing maturity. the game goes F2P on the 10th if any want to check it out. It is a  rp players heaven if thats your thing too.  Our most rascal server is Brandywine and it is way above average for maturity.

yea same here. i get way more annoyed by adults.. or well older people, adults im fine with... age does not equal maturity. most of the pain in the butt grifters i  have met online or know in person are adults, same with most of the un needed trashtalk  especially the arrogant trash talk and stuck up attitudes its what keeps me away form most " adult" games the community is just no fun to be around.. people talk about wow and the kiddies  i have never had problems with them.. now the bored old people straight off call of duty and ready to frag somethin are what get me..

im not sayin some of the kid talk on chat cant be annoying but thats easy not to pay attention to . some of the behaivior of some of the older groups  ,, thats something different.

I challenged my reflection to a staring contest....4 days later i won

Absolutely, would love "adult" only servers. You can often live with bugs or bad things in a game if you have a good community. But too many kids mixed in with adults just ruins a game. Would be better to have under 18 and over 18 servers, I'm sure parents would be happier if that existed.

I've not logged in to Allods for a month, but last time around every second sentence in the chat contained "your gay" in it.

Holy cow dude, if only SoE re-released VG with a HUGE patch, wiped everything, changed what they had to change, and put a team pvp server back in there, I would be as sold as I will be when GW2 comes out. The community in that game is the best I've seen hands down.

Love the sinner, hate the sin.

I do feel your pain but its funny to me that you let the situation get to you like this

Not everyone has the iron-clad resolve that you do, apparently.  On release day I tried Allods, and found what the OP is saying to be true.  I never went back.  And as far as WoW goes, I have to take breaks from the game simply for the reason of asshat players.  Whether they be kids or man-children, one must admit that the douchebaggery is high.

I would pay double to be on a 30+ server.

No matter how you look at games they are a past time and entertainment and if you are unhappy and uncomfortable in it then you should not stick it out just because you want to prove something. We do that enough in real life, all the stuff we take at work and life in general so games should be what it is designed to be an escapism and if you are going to be plagued while you play then why bother.

To be honest the only Mature community I ever found was WW2 Online. I think 6 or 7 times in the whole time playing since 2001 I have seen anyone act like a big child. That is pretty much less than once a year :o

Most mature community I've been around in awhile is Fallen Earth.

Worst I have seen maybe ever is Global Agenda, I still play it now and then but I tend to completely 100% ignore any chat there because it is horrific bad.

It sucks that you had a bad experience with the community. It can vary and I've seen trolls and helpful people. Were you on Tenses or Nezeb server? Empire or League? On League it's divided so you only talk to the high levels in town and on Empire it's divided so you talk to high levels and low levels in town.
